Chapter 69: Halloween

After a month, Connor finally had a new harvest.

It wasn't a scholarly achievement, or an abrupt progress in the events he had been investigating, but he found that there seemed to be some kind of estrangement between him and his classmates.

Although it seems that they have been living similar lives all along, nothing more than having different interests and hobbies, their positions have become completely different before they know it.

It seemed that in the eyes of him and his classmates, Hogwarts were two very different things.

His classmates were involved in various activities within the academy, such as the Witches' Guild and the Men's Wizards' Guild.

As for Connor himself, not only had he not heard of it, but he was busy with things that he couldn't tell anyone else.

If you think about it, you are really a hard life to some extent.

After getting so busy, Connor suddenly realized that he seemed to be missing out on a lot of interesting things, and there was no way to enjoy the various activities of the academy without any guilt like a normal student.

"After all, there's no way......"

Returning to his room, Connor finally just sighed.

"Who made those people slow to move?"

Scratching his kitten's chin, he helplessly confided in his pet.

But complaining is complaining, and he can't really rush up to his face and press Professor Quirrell and Peter directly to the ground.

The guy behind Professor Quirrell's head was easy to solve, the Dark Lord was notorious after all, but Peter wasn't necessarily the same.

As a 'hero' who once received the Order of Merlin, it is impossible to get him to confess his crimes by simply suspecting him, let alone to make the Ministry of Magic directly admit his previous fallacy.

And under the front hooves of abiding by the rules, the best solution is also in front of you.

Again, the same sentence: grasp the current.

So, when Professor Quirrell and Ron's big rat didn't move, they could only continue to wait.

Time passed slowly, and the days passed like this.

Then, the selection of the so-called 'most popular witches and wizards' came to an end, and it didn't even cause much of a stir.

In Connor's opinion, it is nothing more than a lot of people who want to give themselves gifts.

On weekends, you can always find all kinds of small gifts delivered through owls, most of which are small snacks or something.

Walking on the road, I will be abruptly stuffed by some big sisters, and I look like I am very enthusiastic.

But Connor wasn't happy about it, he was depressed.

Because there was no plot on the part of Professor Quirrell or Mr. Pettigrew in those gifts.

He was expecting to grab a piece of evidence to prove that someone wanted to murder him, and it was a good idea to add weight to his own evidence.

But he didn't have that opportunity, and the warm gifts of the big sisters were only contributed by him and divided among several classmates in secrecy.

For Connor, the somewhat frustrating and boring college life went on like this.

There was also news about other academies circulating in the middle.

For example, Filch seems to have noticed that a student is wandering at night, or a student seems to have broken into the restricted area on the fourth floor, and at the same time, there are students who report the teacher or something.

These are quite normal, and there are some outrageous treasures buried inside Hogwarts.

Under the bombardment of that series of unverified news, the time finally came to Halloween, and Hogwarts officially ushered in the first major celebration after the start of school: Halloween.

For this day, the professor and students were busy from early in the morning, and the Hufflepuff students followed their own Professor Sprout to fetch a large number of pumpkins from Hagrid.

The pumpkins are given to Professors McGonagall and Flitwick, who cast a spell to turn them into jack-o-lanterns that emit blue fire and hang them high.

In addition, the students also actively prepared a series of fancy costumes.

Perhaps in the eyes of some ordinary people, Halloween may seem to be inseparable from religion, but wizards don't really pay that much attention to it.

They did allow believers to exist - the Fat Friar, for example, but Halloween within the academy followed an even older system.

There is no mass, no assembly ceremony, just celebrations and small holidays.

When the time comes, the whole castle will not only serve a sumptuous dinner, but there will also be celebrations after the dinner, as well as Halloween misunderstandings.

While it's a bit sad that the day wasn't Friday and didn't look so complete, the laughter still filled the campus.

When Professor Binns's nourishing, textbook-like history of magic class was finally over, Ernie changed his sleepy personality and pulled out the boar hood he had always carried.

"I'm going to have to wear this today!"

He declared loudly.

"What are you trying to pretend?"

"Have you thought about your outfit?"

With nothing to do, Connor asked.

"No, but Justin said he had more than one set of clothes over there."

Ernie replied honestly.

"But I remember that Justin was preparing...... Clown suits? Is that so, Justin? ”

"Yes, Wayne and I are going to play the clown in the gala, and the masks are ready."

Justin took the opportunity to pull out his mask from under his robe.

"Anyway, the prom or something shouldn't have anything to do with us, so it's better to run around as a clown."

That's pretty good, Connor was going to say that.

Justin and Wayne's arrangement looks normal, but Ernie's side is ......

"Do you want to think again?"

Thinking of this, Connor couldn't help but ask a tactful question, but this was only his confusion.

"What else to consider?"

"Boar's head with a clown suit, do you think it's appropriate?"

"Hmm...... I think it's good! ”

“……”

Since the parties themselves were so convinced, Connor himself could not say anything.

"It's good if you're happy."

He said helplessly.

"I have a hunch that you will definitely be in the spotlight at the gala."

"Uh-huh, it's no wonder that Halloween is still called Halloween! It's better to say that I'm close to the primitive. ”

From the point of view of the origin of Halloween, this seems to be true.

The clown is already a modern popular element, and the ghost component is actually not that serious, but this boar head of Ernie is more suitable.

"Why don't you wear a boar's fur coat?"

Just as Connor was about to reverse Ernie's aesthetic, he found that he reached out and bumped into himself.

"Huh? Do? ”

"Hey, look ahead!"

Not just Ernie, but even Justin and Wayne tapped Connor on the shoulder.

And following their guidance, there seemed to be a first-grade girl standing at the corner of the corridor.

The long silver-white hair was casually draped, and the red eyes were staring intently at this place.

"Isobel ......"
