Chapter 472: Sharp Teeth

As she had promised, Tyrande personally arranged for Garrod Shadowsong to arrange his wife's funeral. Dressed in a sorority attire, Sarah Hill lies quietly in an area of the temple dedicated to this type of sad scene. She was placed on a marble platform flanked by emblems of the goddess, like a hooked crescent, and her face was serene in the light of Elune's light. People who knew her came to mourn, kneeling on one knee and whispering prayers to the Lady of the Moon for her soul.

The temple never turns away devotees to visit, although most come at night to mourn Sarah Hill. But time meant nothing to Garrod, and he leaned over his lover all the time, either praying to Elune or silently saying something to his wife. The traveling cloak had been folded aside, but Garrod was still wearing the brown and green coat he had come. His beard was slightly unkempt; He didn't care about these subtleties at the moment.

Usually there would always be two priestesses present, but the captain of the guard asked Tyrande to send them away. As much as he appreciated the gestures they had done for his wife, Garrod wanted to have some personal space when no other mourners were present.

He rested his head on clasped hands and whispered to Sarah Hill again. This time he told her about how they had built their first home together. It was a modest house, originally intended to shelter from the wind and rain until a more permanent apartment was planned. Every mistake they made in building made them closer to each other.

Garrod looked up, his sharp instinct alerting him to the presence of someone else. So he turned his head to look at the entrance.

"I mourn your loss. Santis whispered. "May Our Lady of the Moon guide her soul. ”

The Sentinel General walked over as lightly as a nightblade leopard, and in Garrod's opinion, her form and appearance had barely changed since the last time they met. She tucked her helmet into the crook of her arm so he could see her face more clearly. As usual, Santis hid her true feelings, only a strange look flashed across her face. In Garrod's view, it was either annoyance or apprehension.

Santis is Tyrande's adopted daughter, but they look like mother and daughter. Garrod, however, had never seen the gentle expression of a high priestess on Santis's face. The general's attire is also consistent with her character, with glossy violet armor covering most of her body. The armor was designed to be both flexible and defensive, and even the shoulder armor was shaped so that Santis could instantly raise his bow and swing his sword without any hindrance. Her helmet, which only covered the top half of her face, was built along these lines, allowing it to be quickly put on or taken off without touching the Night Elves' long, pointed ears, or to the long, dark blue hair of Santis.

"Thank you. Santis strode over, and Garrod straightened up to face her. The expressions of the two were equally gloomy.

"I remember her," the general continued, looking at the motionless figure. "She's outstanding. ”

"She was alive. She was once full of life. Everywhere she goes, the whole world is colored by her. ”

Santis turned towards Sarah Hill's body, so Garrod couldn't see her expression. "You really love her. ”

"Of course. ”

"Then I envy her. ”

He stammered. "Santisβ€”"

The Night Elf woman looked back at him. Her eyes were moist, but it was clearly not all because of the dead. "I'm sorry, I was so rude. You know, I totally understand how you feel. In the ...... of so long After losing her. It shouldn't be that way. ”

"...... Santis"

"I have to go. She whispered, looking more upset than Garrod.

He tried to grab her arm gently, but Santis didn't hesitate to dodge it. But she couldn't stop him from following, so the two walked out of the room in silence.

Garrod looked left and right, and when he saw that there was no one around, he whispered. "I've always owed you a word of sorryβ€”"

"You don't owe me. Nothing actually happened between us. ”

He looked back into the room, guilt on his face. Then he said, "I confess that I rejoiced in your favor, especially when you were an adult. But we took different paths in life. In the years after the war, we were all struggling. All I wanted was to forget about the killings and deaths. I never wanted to be a leader...... A hero ......" Garrod uttered the latter word rather self-deprecatingly. "I don't feel like I'm in place, and you're the opposite. You have your own goals. You have a responsibility to the Temple of the Moon and the High Priestess. ”

"She'sβ€”"

Garrod held up a hand and told her to say no more. To his great surprise, Santis did so. "Tyrande not only saved your life, but also replaced your dead mother. I have nothing to blame for you doing things for her. But she ...... And behind her, our people...... It has always been, and always will be, your primary concern. ”

Santis opened her mouth, then closed it again, her eyes showing no denial. Instead, she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. There was no hint of temptation in this move, but only an understanding of his unfortunate situation.

"If you want to talk, just look for me. The general said.

With that, she turned and left. Shantis didn't look back, and Garrod didn't say goodbye. He just watched her walk in the direction of the High Priestess's shrine.

The former officer began to walk back, only to notice another armored figure standing in the distance across from him.

"Our Lady of the Moon!" Garrod whispered, thinking he recognized the helmeted figure, and beckoned to her. Unlike Santis, however, she did not come forward when she was discovered, but immediately turned away.

"Mavi!" Even if she heard it, she didn't answer. He stood in utter confusion for a moment, then briskly chased after his sister.

By the time he was halfway through the chase, she had already turned a corner. Garrod knew he wouldn't know when he would see her again if he couldn't catch up with her, so he ran away. He sprinted around the corner, only to see his target disappear outside the temple door.

Garrod chased after him, to the long bridge leading to the garden. By this time Mavi, if it was her, had crossed the bridge and gone away. He followed him through the garden, and then followed his sister's disappearing figure eastward through the city, all the way out of the borders of Darnassus and into the woods.

Garrod wasn't too far behind, but he didn't think so. As he stormed into the woods, he wondered if the pursuit would be in vain. But he decided to keep along.

Garrod rushed through the first row of trees as he tried to find the right path. He caught a glimpse of what looked like an arm flashing between the trunks of the tree on his right, and immediately turned to chase after him. Despite being unfamiliar with the forest, Garrod chose to follow the guidance of his natural instincts. He quickly judged the easiest road to pass, and guessed the direction in which Mavi was most likely to be based on the scenery in front of GuΓ².

Even though he couldn't see her, Garrod believed that at least he was getting closer. A sudden rush of relief swelled up in his heart, and he struggled with the guilt of leaving Sarah Hill's side. He must not let Mavi prevail over-

A large mouth full of sharp fangs appeared in front of him. (To be continued.) )
