Kim Jong-go, former second lieutenant of the Japanese army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Republic of Korea and chief of staff of the army, general.

Born in Cheongwon, Chungcheongbuk-do, he joined the Japanese "apprentice" in 1944 after graduating from the Faculty of Law at Chuo University in Japan.

In 1946, he graduated from the Military English School of the U.S. Army Department and served as a platoon commander, company commander, and regiment commander of the National Defense Garrison.

Since 1950, he has successively served as division commander, commander of the headquarters, director of the Personnel Bureau of the Army Headquarters, and president of the Army Non-commissioned Officer School.

In 1954, he was appointed commander of the First Army and was promoted to lieutenant general in the same year.

He entered the U.S. Army Military Academy in 1955 and served as Deputy Chief of the Operational Staff of the Army Headquarters and Commander of the Fifth Army the following year.

In 1959, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, and in 1960, he successively served as President of the National Defense University of Korea, Commander of the First Army, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. He was promoted to general in 1962.

The Battle of Baima Mountain in 1952 ended with Admiralty V defending the White Horse Heights and defeating and severely damaging the 38th Army of the "Banzai Army", the ace unit of the Chinese People's Volunteers.

After this war, the Admiralty Five became famous, because his opponent was none other than China's outstanding General Konyama and the "Long Live Army" under his command.
