Chapter 8: The Duke's Coffee (Part II)

"Bell-!"

Without much thought, Edward almost instinctively pulled out the bright star on his waist and blocked it in front of Barrion, the gray blade exploding a burst of fire in midair, and the black shadow that flew into the window was knocked away, and the sound of tearing the air was inserted into the floor beneath his feet.

Edward's heart jumped, and just as he raised his head to look out the window, there was a faint sound of bowstring fluttering in his ears, and he was so shocked that he didn't even have time to think about it, and directly pressed Berion behind him to the ground.

Suddenly, a rapid whistling sound rushed into the room like a gale, and Berion, who was pressed to the ground by Edward, could only hear the terrible sound in his ears.

Soon, the rain of arrows stopped, and Edward, who was clutching the hilt of his sword, looked around, and in just a few tens of seconds, the entire room had been destroyed—broken teapots, walls full of arrows, shredded curtains...... Not even the slightest intact thing can be seen.

"What the hell is this......" The startled Berion was just about to stand up, when suddenly a knife flashed outside the dark window—windows, balconies, ceilings, and suddenly an assassin rushed into the room like a ghost in the night, and pounced on Berrion Marcherus, who was still in place!

The sparkling blade exploded with silver light from its sheath, revealing its fangs in the flickering light, and the bloodthirsty color stabbed Berrion's throat with the sturdy figure.

The duke seemed to be stunned, although his right hand had subconsciously pressed the hilt of the sword, but it was too late. The assassin couldn't help but lick his lips when he saw that his target was about to succeed, and the color in his eyes became more and more fanatical. It was as if I had seen the figure lying in a pool of blood......

"Get out of the way!"

The thin assassin glared viciously at the black-haired knight who had held the short knife in his hand. The scolding sound of baring teeth was like sandpaper rubbing on the ground, making you want to cover your ears. Flicking his left arm, another short knife appeared in his left hand, stabbing straight into Edward's eyes.

However, at the same moment, he actually saw the corners of this guy's mouth curl, and then the gray knight's sword shattered the blade of his right hand as if by magic, slashing at his body with shards of steel blades and the sound of death......

The screaming Assassin collapsed in a pool of his own blood, his severed right arm falling beside him. In the last moment, only the black-haired knight could be seen, once again blocking another assassin who was rushing towards Berion.

A sword pierced the assassin who was about to attack from behind, and Edward, who kicked the corpse away, twisted his head, only to see that the duke's sword was still in its sheath. It seems that it was because the situation was so sudden, that he completely lost consciousness.

"Duke of Berion!"

Edward's shouts came from his ears, waking up Barrion from the chaos, and just as he looked up, he saw a smiling assassin raise his short knife and stab him in the cheek!

In the moment of life and death, Berion's right hand almost instinctively drew his sword, the blade stabbed into his throat, the sound of breaking wind and bones breaking pierced his ears, and the blood spurting from the mouth of the unwilling assassin splashed on his face with a hint of fear, and there was a strong fishy smell.

And the moment the bloodied Barion turned back, another Assassin pounced on him. The dagger in his hand was already raised, but the excited assassin heard a sudden whistling sound of the air being torn apart. Subconsciously turned his head......

"Poof!"

The bright star thrown by Edward streaked a gray afterimage in mid-air, and only the blood flying with the sword could be seen directly piercing the assassin's mouth, and the blade of the sword sticking out of the back of the head caused the corpse to fly out with inertia, piercing the other assassin behind him through the neck, and falling to the ground, throwing the dagger in his hand with the last bit of strength before vomiting blood and swallowing his breath.

The sharp dagger pierced directly into the side of Berion's calf, and the distorted duke's body squatted down with some trembling, supporting the ground with his left hand to barely fall to the ground, but it could be seen from his expression that he seemed to be in considerable pain now, pursed his mouth and his body was still trembling.

It was only then that the assassins in the room paid attention to the black-haired knight standing on the other side, Edward, covered in blood, with his empty hands, did not flinch at all, and a pair of black eyes swept over them one by one as if he were looking at his prey.

"Die, Barrion's lackey!" Seeing that there was no weapon left in his hand, two Assassins lunged at him. As if strolling through the courtyard, Edward's standing figure suddenly dodged the slashing blade and kicked the assassin against the wall with a scream.

"Smack!" Edward, who suddenly stretched out his left hand, suddenly pinched the face of the guy behind him who wanted to sneak up on him, and before he could resist, the Hidden Blade that popped out of the arm guard had already torn his lips and stabbed into his throat with broken teeth!

Turning around and wiping the neck of the Assassin who was still screaming, Edward, who was covered in blood, turned around, unabashedly withdrew his Hidden Blade into the arm guard in front of a group of assassins, and slowly stood in front of the Duke of Barrion. The room was suddenly eerily quiet, and there was not even a single assassin who dared to pounce on the black-haired knight standing there.

Eventually, the silence was broken by the sound of a rush of running outside the door, and all the Assassins who were still alive fled from the balcony, and Edward did not stop him - he couldn't stop the group now, not to mention that there was something more urgent to deal with.

"Bang-!" Gavin, who looked panicked, pushed open the door, and at first glance saw the Duke of Berion lying on the ground and Edward squatting next to him in the messy room, and he wanted to pounce on him without caring about anything, and the voice in his throat turned into a frightened scream: "Lord Duke!"

Before he could take a few more steps, he was stopped by Edward, and the anxious and terrified Gavin Brindis was furious: "What are you doing, Viscount Edward?!"

"It's you, it's you who want to kill the Duke, right? In vain, Lord believes in you so much, this is all you have to do to your lordship, you treacherous villain with no chivalry at all, either kill me, or I will let this matter spread throughout the city of Turin, and His Majesty Horace will stick your head on the tip of the gun to avenge the Duke of Berion, and I swear I will take revenge!"

"If you don't want to kill the duke, shut up. Edward glanced at him indifferently, the black eyes oozing with the smell of blood made Jiawen tremble, a few drops of cold sweat were left on his pale face, he closed his mouth and said nothing, just a pair of eyes full of resentment kept staring at the back of the black-haired knight.

Edward, who had finally quieted down, swept his gaze over the corpses of the Assassins...... Who was the hell who wanted to kill the Duke of Barrion tonight, and how did he know that the Duke would be in such a café in the East Quarter? There was something strange about the whole assassination, and Edward could even smell the conspiracy.

If the Duke of Berrion dies here tonight...... In other words, if he dies in a place where he meets in secret, then even if he can argue the next day, there is no doubt that he will go to Huangquan Road to be with the Duke as his companion.

In any case, Berion must not be found in this café by anyone else, and must leave here as soon as possible and find a safer place.

Marco Tasker crept in through the door, and after a few glances around, he crouched down beside Edward, his eyes carefully observing Berrion lying on the ground.

"The Duke is not dead, but he has been poisoned. The silver-haired wizard carefully pulled the dagger from the duke's calf, pointed to the wound that was dripping pus, and said, "But if you don't heal the wound as soon as possible, I'm afraid death is not far away!"

"You don't need to say much about this, we need to get out of here, we can't stay here for a minute. Edward glanced at him, "Can you find a way to get us out of here undetected?"

"Absolutely. Marco raised the corners of his mouth with confidence: "As long as it's your order." (To be continued......)
