Chapter 19: A Gift to Hagrid
Calvin wanted to find the mysterious Room of Requirement in the castle, and he targeted the corridor to the right of the fourth floor, which Dumbledore was forbidden to enter. But alas, there is only one stupid and ugly three-headed hellhound out there.
Calvin left the fourth floor disappointed, found the kitchen in the basement, and gently scratched the pears on the fruit bowl with his hand and entered the kitchen. With a few words of "please" and "thank you", I got a few pieces of beef pie and pumpkin juice from the house-elf.
Looks like I'm going to have to see my old friends. Calvin thought to himself on his way back to his office.
The next afternoon, Calvin left the castle and walked through the greenhouse to the hut on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
As soon as he got closer, a majestic poodle bared its teeth and barked at Calvin.
A dog is no different from an ant to Calvin. He crouched down and scratched the sides of the dog's neck, and the dog lay down quietly and enjoyed Calvin's petting.
Soon, a burly half-giant with a full cheek and unkempt hair came out of the hut.
"Yaya, are you okay?" Hagrid heard his big dog bark twice, then went silent, thinking that something had happened to him.
"Hagrid, your teeth are good, he seems to like to eat the dog food I make." Calvin stood up and walked over to Hagrid.
"Haha, Yaya, look who's coming," Hagrid walked up and gave Calvin a hug, "Calvin, why did you remember to see me in two weeks since school started, come in." Hagrid led Calvin into the cabin, and Toothtooth followed them in, lying on his stomach by the fireplace.
"It's a bit busy at school, sorry, Hagrid." Calvin said apologetically.
Calvin looked around the inside of the cabin, "Hagrid, you haven't changed here since thirteen years ago, and honestly, it's the place I've been most familiar with since I came back." ”
Hegla sat Calvin down and handed him a cup of tea and a plate of rock cakes.
After a brief catch up with Hagrid, Calvin pulled a pumpkin-sized, silver, glittering egg from the space in his sleeve and placed it on the table. "A gift for you, Hagrid."
Hagrid's eyes straightened, his breath was short, and he stammered, "Calvin, this can't be, Thunderbird?" ”
"Yes, it's a Thunderbird egg," Calvin nodded slightly, "it was laid by a pair of Thunderbirds I raised." A litter of six, its older siblings have hatched and let me release in North America. I'll give it to you. ”
Hagrid carefully picked up the Thunderbird egg from the table, as if he were treating some rare treasure, and the flickering arc on the eggshell did no harm to the half-giant: "Let me think, Ptarmigan eggs, rainy days, high places, damp ...... Ha, don't I have a magical beast expert by my side? ”
Calvin smiled, "Hagrid, you're right. The Thunderbird breaks out of its shell in stormy weather, and you need to keep it in a high and humid place. However, I suggest that you raise the Ptarmigan and put it in the Forbidden Forest so that no one else finds out. ”
"Thank you, thank you, Calvin." Hagrid picked up his handkerchief and wiped the corners of his eyes.
Calvin noticed that something was rubbing his leg under his feet, and when he looked down, it was Hagrid's stupid dogtooth. So he took out another can of dog food from his sleeve and opened it to feed it.
"Tooth tooth!" Hagrid shouted angrily.
"It's okay, Hagrid," Calvin twitched his head, "this was originally the dog food I made for the three-headed dog, I'll keep a little more for you, and you can feed the one in the hallway on the right side of the fourth floor when the time comes." By the way, Hagrid, I have to say, you left the three-headed dog in the castle is a very dangerous move. ”
"Lou Wei?" Hagrid was surprised, "Have you seen Lowe?" ”
"Oh, it's called Louwe, isn't it?" Calvin took a bite of the crust cake and put it back on the plate with a calm face, after all these years, Hagrid's cooking skills still hadn't improved.
"I just saw it last night." Calvin stared at Hagrid solemnly, "You should put it in the Forbidden Forest, it's too dangerous in the castle, even if Headmaster Dumbledore doesn't allow students to enter there." ”
"Actually, Headmaster Dumbledore borrowed a treasure from me," Hagrid shrugged, "and he asked Louwe to guard a treasure. ”
"Is it the Philosopher's Stone?" Calvin thought for a moment and said quickly.
"How do you know? You didn't tell anyone, did you? Hagrid's eyes widened in surprise as he muttered, "Headmaster Dumbledore, I didn't say this on my own initiative, Calvin guessed it himself. ”
Calvin smiled helplessly, "Hagrid, I'm a student of Nicolamay. ”
Just then, there was a knock at the door.
Calvin quickly pulled out a piece of black cloth and placed it on the Thunderbird egg, and Hagrid asked in a loud voice, "Who?" ”
"It's me, Hagrid."
It's Harry.
Hagrid opened the door, and Harry and Ron squeezed into the cabin.
"Hi, Hagrid."
"Hi Harry, Ron. This is Professor Capet, my good friend. Hagrid introduced the two young wizards.
"Oh, Professor Capet, you're here too." Harry was a little embarrassed, which reminded him of being caught by Professor Capet last night.
"Hello, Harry, Ron." Calvin greeted the two.
"Hagrid, what were you talking about?" Harry asked, taking Hagrid's cup.
"Old friends are just catching up." Hagrid said stiffly, whether it was a Thunderbird Egg or a three-headed dog, Hagrid didn't want Harry to know.
"Let's talk about the three-headed dog on the right side of the fourth floor." Calvin said quickly, and Harry and Ron quickly remembered the ugly creature they had seen last night and shivered.
Hagrid was a little annoyed and placed the teapot heavily on the table, "Hey, Calvin, we can't tell the students about this. ”
"It's okay, Hagrid, they already know." Calvin sighed and winked at Hagrid, signaling to Harry that they only knew that, "Harry and his friends were discovered by Filch on a night trip last night.
These people were dizzy, and they actually hid in the corridor on the right side of the fourth floor, and wanted to enter the room at the end. If I hadn't stopped them, they would have been eaten by Luwe. ”
"Really?" Hagrid crossed his hands on his hips and looked angry, which reminded Ron of his mother's angry look, "Kids, it's bad. I mean, you better listen to Headmaster Dumbledore and don't go back to the hallway on the right side of the fourth floor, it's dangerous, you're going to lose your life. ”
Harry and Ron looked a little dejected. They had come today to find out the whereabouts of the filthy little parcel in the underground vault of 713. But looking at Hagrid's anger today, he won't answer them.
