Chapter 35 Pink Toad
Amos led Newt and Calvin to the door of the office of the senior assistant minister on the basement level.
Amos wasn't in a hurry to knock on the door, he straightened up his black wizard robes and took a deep breath, but stopped before knocking. He took another deep breath, his expression pained, as if he was making a big decision.
Calvin doesn't really understand, isn't it just a knock on the door? It's like drinking a potion of live hell.
Amos didn't knock on the door, though, and the office door opened on its own. Out of it came a short, stocky witch in a fluffy pink cardigan. She was startled at the sight of three wizards standing in front of her office, and the black bows on her short curls trembled.
"Amos, what are you doing standing here!" Umbridge had a shrill voice that sounded like a little girl's fuss.
Calvin frowned slightly, he didn't like this woman, she was like a toad. But this disgust cannot be easily expressed.
"Well, Ms. Umbridge, you made me here." Amos swallowed his discomfort and said.
"Ah, yes, I asked you to come." Umbridge said in her distinctive, sweet voice. This made all three people present a little sick to their stomachs.
Umbridge pulled out a roll of parchment from her pink pouch, which didn't match her age at all.
"It's this Mr. Calvin Capet who plans to establish a magical beast sanctuary, so he wants to meet with the minister." Umbridge automatically ignored Uncle Newt who was standing on the sidelines, and looked at Calvin with a smile, she kind of liked the wizard, at least from the outside.
Calvin only thought he saw a smiling poisonous tree frog. He forced himself to respond with a gentle smile, "Yes, this beautiful lady, I, as a myrzoologist, would like to meet with the honorable Minister Fudge about the establishment of the Fantastic Beasts Sanctuary. β
"Em, I'll take a look," Umbridge smiled brightly when he saw that Calvin was kind to her, but Amos and Newt only felt that they saw a lump of blooming stool, "Oh, what a coincidence, Minister Fudge hasn't been idle lately, Calvin, you have to wait eight days before the Minister has time." β
After saying that, he threw a wink at Calvin, twisted his ass and left.
Calvin sighed secretly, his expression contorted, as if he was making an important decision. If Newt were to look at it, he would see that the expression had just appeared on Amos's face.
Calvin hurried up, walking side by side with Umbridge.
Umbridge stopped and asked coquettishly, "Mr. Cape, is there something wrong?" Secretary Fudge was really busy, and I couldn't coordinate. β
Calvin bared two rows of white teeth and smiled brightlyβa smile that was fully qualified for the Wizarding Weekly Most Charming Smile Award.
"No, no, no, you're mistaken. Ms. Umbridge, I'd like to talk to you more now than Secretary Fudge, what should I call you. β
"Oh, I didn't expect that," Umbridge exaggeratedly covered her mouth with her hand in a little daughter gesture. Calvin saw that her hands were covered in pink nail polish.
"Dolores Umbridge, you can call me Dolly." Umbridge held out his right hand to Calvin and motioned for him to kiss his hand.
Calvin couldn't help himself, and he politely pushed Umbridge's hand away and took out a silver pocket watch from his sleeve. "Mrs. Umbridge, I want to give this to you."
Umbridge's eyes straightened, and she felt that this should be a valuable goblin artifact.
Calvin's hand shook, and the silver pocket watch began to swing regularly. Umbridge's eyes began to lose focus as he stared at his pocket watch.
"What's your name?" Calvin asked coldly.
"Dolores Jane Umbridge."
"Go and help me schedule my meeting with Secretary Fudge for this afternoon, and forget what happened to me and you today. After a minute, you will wake up. Calvin put away his pocket watch and walked quickly away from the disgusting woman.
Newt and Amos didn't know what Calvin had said to Umbridge, so they stood nearby and waited for him to come back.
Calvin said to them with a fly-eaten expression, "Let's stay a little farther away, and the woman will come back to us in a moment." β
Amos was dumbfounded, and Newt subconsciously took a half step back.
"Calvin, this woman Umbridge isn't as stupid as she seems, and her relationship with Secretary Fudge isn't easy. There are rumors in the ministry that the two of them have maintained a high-level cooperative relationship for a long time. Amos kindly reassured Calvin, "You'd better not beat her upset, and if you're not married, I can introduce you to a few of my little girls." β
"Amos, what do you want?" Calvin's expression twitched, "I'm going to vomit the pumpkin juice she drank three years ago when I see her." β
Newt frowned and said, "Then what did you just do with her?" β
"Ask her to schedule our meeting this afternoon."
"Umbridge isn't a reasonable person, and you can't convince her."
"Of course I can convince her, two Hufflepuffs," Calvin smiled, "in Slytherin way." β
"Shhh Whether you use the Imperius Curse or the Confusion Charm, as a high-ranking official, she will be able to react quickly. β
Calvin chuckled and shook his head, "It's just a little bit of a Muggle, hypnosis." The advantage is that there is no trace of magic and will not be easily discovered by wizards, but the disadvantage is that the control time is very short, and what can be done is very simple. But it's enough to deal with this woman, is she still a master in the field of memory magic? β
The two of them gave Calvin a strange look, and invariably took half a step back. Calvin was a little helpless: "You Hufflepuff students are so serious. β
Soon, Umbridge found them, as if he couldn't see Calvin, and said to Newt, "Mr. Scamander, you're in luck." Secretary Fudge will be available this afternoon, and at three o'clock in the afternoon, you have fifteen minutes. β
After the pink toad left, Newt glared at Calvin, "How did you do that?" β
"I said, a little bit of a Muggle." Calvin shrugged.
"What a little trick, I think it's crooked," Newt said viciously, "just like you went out to do bad things with my face in the first place." β
"Newt, how do you remember this." Calvin was surprised to find that Uncle Newt was still holding a grudge, "Let's go, it's still early at three o'clock, I'll treat you to a cup of coffee." β
