Chapter 52 Rita Skeeter
Calvin couldn't stand the story of lies and speculation anymore, and looked straight to the end of the story: Writer: Rita Skeeter, gold editor of the Daily Prophet, author of twelve best-selling books, best-selling book record holder. People familiar with the matter are welcome to break the news.
"Hmph." Calvin snapped his fingers and burned the newspaper to ashes, drawing the attention of the teacher on the side.
"Professor Capet, what are you doing?" McGonagall looked at Calvin with cold eyes, her lips pursed into a straight line, she hadn't forgotten that the last time the Great Hall was burned was the work of the previous professor of the Magical Beasts Protection class.
"Nothing, Professor McGonagall, just burn the garbage." With that, Calvin turned and left his seat, ready for the morning class.
Before Calvin could get to the office, Harry caught up with Hermione and Ron, still holding a newspaper in his hand.
"Harry, are you better?" Calvin noticed that Harry was still pale, and took the initiative to stroke the scar on his forehead.
"It's better, Professor." Harry gasped and held up the newspaper in his hand, "That's what I'm going to say, Professor, look at this. β
"Oh, I already know about it, you don't have to worry about it, I'll fix it, take care of it myself." Calvin took the newspaper from Harry's hand.
Harry was a little puzzled and said, "Professor, we haven't talked to anyone else......"
Calvin patted Harry on the shoulder, "I know you don't, and you're not that kind of person. As for the students, some of them may do have complaints against me, but some of them will not betray me. β
Ron kindly reminded, "Professor, you should fix this problem as soon as possible." Rita is a very powerful person, the Minister of Magic has suffered from her, and I don't know how she is going to arrange you. β
"Don't worry, I'll take care of this bug."
In the afternoon, Calvin dressed formally, was teleported from the office fireplace with Floo powder to Diagon Alley. After emerging from the public fireplace, Calvin walked down the street to a tall building on the south side of Diagon Alley, which was the editorial office of the Daily Prophet.
Calvin pushed open the door, and a good-looking wizard at the front desk politely asked, "Hello sir, who are you looking for?" β
"Rita Skeeter."
"Okay, do you have an appointment?"
"I have big news to break."
"Please wait." The sorceress hurried out of the front desk and returned a moment later.
"Please follow me."
The Witch of Beauty led Calvin through the hallway and knocked on the door of one of the innermost offices.
A moment later, a well-dressed woman opened the door, her gaze scanning Calvin from beginning to end through a pair of jewel-encrusted tortoiseshell glasses.
"Come in." Rita's voice sounded capable.
Rita poured a glass of red wine in her office, put her left leg on her right leg, and asked proudly, "You said you had big news to me?" β
"Yes, Miss Skeeter." Calvin looked around Rita's office and saw that it was as delicate and neat as she was.
The tables, chairs and bookcases are neatly arranged, and the bookshelves are full of books, trophies, newspapers, and photos. On the opposite side of the bookcase is a large wine cabinet, filled with precious red wines from all over the world. It seems that she is really favored in the Daily Prophet and can still drink during work hours.
"Tell me about it," Rita demanded forcefully, as a piece of parchment and a green quill flew on the table. Calvin could tell it was a shorthand quill pen.
"Looks like Miss Skeeter really doesn't know me." Calvin laughed.
"Know you?" Rita gave a skeptical look from behind her jeweled glasses, "Why did I know you, we only met for the first time today." β
"That is," Calvin chuckled, "that you wrote me a feature story, even using a photo of me six or seven years ago, and now you don't know who I am?" β
Rita looked at Calvin again for a moment, and this time she finally recognized it. Put on a bright smile and say enthusiastically, "Oops, it turns out that you are Calvin Capet." Would you like a drink? β
"No, I don't." Calvin rejects Rita's kindness.
Then he saw Rita's quill write on the back: "The visitor is the new professor at Hogwarts, and he walked into my room with a little anger, showing strong displeasure, but not to the author, but to the whole of Hogwarts......
Calvin shook his head helplessly.
"Are you worried about the damage to your reputation? Don't be afraid, after my polishing, you will make a name for yourself. Rita saw that Calvin was a little resistant to herself, and the corners of her mouth curved slightly into a suitable arc.
"Fame?" Calvin dragged out his tone and repeated the word.
"Yes, I'm digging into the story of Harry Potter's parents' generation, and you're a first-hand witness to it, and if you're willing to tell me interesting stories about them, I think your name will soon be on the bestseller with me."
"Is it like this one?" Calvin pulled out a copy of Armando Dippert: Master or Idiot? I flipped it up. Then he smacked his tongue and said: "It would be nice to have half of the content in this book true, I only saw the whole book of lies and speculations." It seems that your readers are very much in this way. β
Rita raised her two thick eyebrows, walked up to Calvin, and said with some contempt, "Calvin Capet, I've heard of you. An old colleague of mine who travels a lot advises me not to trouble you...... It's ridiculous, no wonder I haven't even had an editor-in-chief until now. β
"Readers nowadays love to read these thingsβ" Rita said, taking the biography of Armando from Calvin's hand.
- exciting, unknowing, shady, with a bit of conspiracy theories. That's how there will be sales. β
"Would you rather sacrifice the truth for this?" Calvin interrupted her.
"The truth?!" Rita chuckled and put the book back on the shelf, "What everyone believes is the truth." β
"So, let's talk," Rita sat back in her seat, "I'm interested in you, and your relationship with Lily. β
"You were raised by your Muggle uncle, but you were sorted into Slytherin House at a time when mysteries were rampant. I'm sure Lily Evans must have helped you a lot, what do you think of her? Like? Adore? Esteemed? Or, love? His eyes were fixed on Calvin.
"Rita, Rita," Calvin sighed, "why don't you listen to your colleague?" β
"I just want the reader to see a different side of the world."
Calvin chuckled, "Very well, then I'll show you the other side of the world." β
He waved his right hand as if to wipe a piece of dirt off the glass.
"What?" Rita was about to ask Calvin what he meant, when she suddenly noticed that everything around her became strange.
For a while, the light and shadow flowed, everything faded color, and the whole world was only black and white.
