Chapter 156: The Back of the Soul
Calvin raised his head slightly, supported his chin with his right hand, squinted at Royina, and said slowly, "I used to think you were, but then I saw some of your behavior, and now I'm a little uncertain." β
Calvin took out the Thestrals, and this time Royina didn't stop him. Calvin looked through Thestrals' glasses, and sure enough, he saw a small piece of soul in the existence in front of him.
This soul is not like the soul of a normal person, it is small and fragile. But it's not like the soul fragments in the Horcruxes, it's a whole whole soul, and there are no traces of splitting.
Calvin was somewhat familiar, as if he had seen a soul in this state somewhere. Soon, he remembered that there was also such a small fragile soul in the Sorting Hat.
"Actually, I didn't lie to you about this," Royina looked serious, "I do have a memory. β
With a wave of her hands, her memories began to play in the meditation pool, like a water screen movie.
"But memory breeds souls, although the conditions are harsh and it takes a long time, but this is a fact."
Calvin frowned, and began to consider the possibility of such a statement.
"I, or Royina Ravenclaw, were the first to find out about this. You may have heard the saying that the path a person has traveled is his life. β
"Indeed......," Calvin was still somewhat skeptical, "there is indeed an inseparable relationship between memory and soul. β
"But I still think it's a bit strange that memories breed souls."
Rowana nodded, "This is indeed very subversive magic. I, or Ms. Ravenclaw, discovered it by accident and succeeded in creating a soul. β
"Wait," Calvin interrupted Royina, "you don't mean that, the Sorting Hat! β
"That's right, the Sorting Hat," Royina nodded, "The Big Four poured some of their memories into it, and Lady Ravenclaw cast that magic. It wasn't long before the Sorting Hat gave birth to a soul of its own. β
"But there are many drawbacks to souls created with magic, first of all, there needs to be a lot of mana to sustain this soul, the magic of the Sorting Hat comes from Hogwarts Castle, and my magic comes from the meditation pool."
"Secondly, if you want to give birth to a soul, you need to have enough memory, if you only have a small memory, you can't give birth to a soul, at least you need a memory that spans up to a few decades before you can give birth to a soul. The degree of wisdom of the soul is also related to the length of memory. β
Calvin tapped his finger and finally said, "I guess Ravenclaw didn't give you all the memories. β
Royina nodded, "She deleted all memories of marriage and Helena. β
"No wonder," Calvin felt everything made sense, "no wonder you didn't care about Helena, no wonder you acted like a naΓ―ve teenage girl in the Muggle world." β
"Yes, I'm not really Royina Ravenclaw." Royina's eyes were distracted, and there was a rare look of loss on his face.
"There's nothing to be upset about, maybe for a real Ravenclaw, those memories might be her greatest pain," Calvin smiled at Royina, "So, Royina, let's close the final deal, I have a lot of questions for you." β
Royina quickly adjusted his mood and crossed his hands on the table, "Excuse me, Mr. Capet." β
"Royina, my first question is: What is memory? What is Soul? β
"It's an interesting question, I thought about it at the beginning," said Royina solemnly, "I heard that you are a painter?" β
"Sort of." Calvin nodded.
"To put it simply, the soul is the painting paper, and the memory is the painting on the paper."
This answer caused Calvin to ponder, and he quickly retorted, "No, the soul fragments on the Horcrux have all the memories they had before the split. If you follow your words, then there is only a small piece of memory on the Horcrux fragment. β
"Don't measure the memory it can carry by the size of the soul, that's scientific thinking, we're talking about magic." Royina smiled, "The soul is the carrier of memories, and even a small piece of soul can carry a large number of memories. As you can see, neither I nor the Sorting Hat have big souls, but we carry a lot of memories. β
Calvin then understood the relationship between the soul and memory, and then asked, "So how do you repair a damaged soul?" β
"You made a Horcrux?" Surprised, Royina reached out and pressed Calvin's forehead.
"No," Calvin patted Royina's hand away, "I have two friends whose souls have been torn apart by the Mind Curse, like a piece of paper that has been cut and put together. β
"You want to cure them?"
"Yes, I used the method of strengthening memories to cure the after-effects of the Forgetting Charm, but this method may not work for the Mind Drilling Charm." Calvin sighed.
"You're right," Royina approving, "memory does heal soul damage. β
"But to cure the Heart Drill Mantra, memory alone is not enough." Royina's hand swiped through the air, creating an intricate landscape with the water of the pool.
"As I said earlier, the soul is like drawing paper, and memory is like a painting on it. In your friend's case, the paper is broken, but the soul has the ability to heal itself, so the broken paper is spliced together into the wrong picture. β
The complex landscape was stitched together under the direction of Royina into a haphazard picture.
"So why don't we take a look, what's on the back of the paper?" Royina said seductively.
"The back of the paper, the back of the soul!" Royina's words woke up the dreamer.
Royina's fingers spun in a circle in the air, and the misaligned piece of paper spun around.
Calvin saw some simple lines on it, and it was easy to see that they formed a circle. Royina split the paper again, moved it simply, put the lines together into a circle, and then flipped the paper over again, and Calvin saw a beautiful landscape.
"So what is the back of the paper, or the back of the soul?" Calvin asked.
"It was the first magic unleashed by the ancient wizards, the Patronus Charm." Royina said calmly.
"Patronus Charm?" Calvin was stunned, as if he remembered something bad.
"Yes, the Patronus Charm is a symbol of the heart, it is a positive force, it represents hope, happiness, the desire to live." Royina said.
"The Patronus appears on the back of everyone's soul the moment it is born, and even if some wizards can't cast the Patronus Spell, it doesn't mean that he doesn't have a Patronus, it's just that he doesn't have enough mana." Royina babbled on about the Patronus Charm, "Are you listening, Mr. Cape?" β
