Chapter 10: Cole's scheming
"Okay, Mir, I'll leave it to you."
Chris picked up Alina and handed it to Mir, who stood on the deck and looked in Mir's direction, as if he didn't see anything.
Chris hesitated and said, "Mill, where is she?" I didn't see it at all. β
"She's right there in the open space behind the crowd, right in the middle of the two oil lamps, but you need to be cautious."
After Chris leaves, Mir prepares to find a way to wake Alina, but he doesn't know what kind of spell the ghost has placed on her, making her limp and drowsy.
The ghost appeared here without warning, and Mir couldn't figure out what it was for, why it was doing it to Alina, why she had taken on Ian to get close to herina.
Mir had to make the connection between the ghost and Ian's death, and at least he could confirm that she was the most suspicious and most likely the murderer.
Mill hoped that Chris would catch her, or, if Chris couldn't catch her, he would chase her away, preferably not letting her get close to the boat and get close to Alina.
Mir carried Alina to the beach near the harbor, and he was about to use his hands to get a little cold water to wake herin.
After repeated the attempt several times, Alina let out a dry breath and coughed dryly, she seemed to have signs of life, and when Mir touched Alina's chest just now, Mir couldn't feel Alina's heart beating.
"Honey, are you awake?" Mir approached Alina and asked, "How are you feeling?" β
Alina said weakly, "I'm fine, I just feel dizzy." β
Alina looked around and found herself sitting on the beach in the harbor of New Orleans, and she remembered why she was on the boat.
Alina asked suspiciously, "Mir, what's wrong with me?" β
"Honey, you're probably so tired that you passed out on the boat."
Mir didn't want Alina to know that the ghost really appeared, and was about to hug her, wanting to take her soul away, so in order not to worry her more, Mir chose to hide it from Alina.
While Mill picked up Alina, Cole was running towards the beach, and when he saw that Alina was able to walk independently, he bowed to Alina and said, "My dear, Miss MassΓ©na, I am glad to see that you are all right. β
"Cole, thank you." Alina said with a sweet smile.
Mir fears that Cole will tell Alina about the ghost's appearance, and when Cole walks with him, he realizes that his worries are unnecessary.
"Mr. Detective Edward, Lady Rosalie has nothing to do."
Cole overpowered his voice to the lowest, and his voice came out almost at the same time as the sound of the rising tide of the sea, which confused Alina's hearing.
"Thank you, Dear Mr. Miller."
Mir also suppressed his voice, but he did not come out at the same time as the sound of the rising tide, and unexpectedly, the words were heard by Alina.
Alina turned her head and stared at Mir and Cole with strange eyes, in Mir's house, she heard that Mir hated him very much, but instead, the two of them were now very close, as if they were on a very good relationship, much to Alina's surprise.
After only a short period of sleep, Alina felt as if something had changed in the world, and as for what had changed, Alina couldn't say anything at all.
Cole didn't reply, he just nodded, and walked away from Mir and Alina's gaze.
"Mir, don't you hate him anymore?" Alina looked into Mir's eyes, and she couldn't feel the change in Mir's heart anymore.
Mir was greeted with respect by Cole, and was reminded by Chris that he didn't feel as annoying as Cole used to be, and Mill smiled and explained, "Because I've gained respect, that's all." β
Alina blinked in disbelief and said, "Really? β
"Yes, dear." Mill replied.
"You're always so fickle, I once suspected..."
"Your suspicions are wrong."
Mir gave Alina a gentle kiss in the most brutal way, he had no way to gag Alina's mouth, and Mir had explained countless times in the past few years, but he could not make Alina give up such skepticism.
After a deep kiss, Mir put Alina on the ship, and the two talked about their happy times in New Orleans, and Alina looked back in the direction where she had lived, and she couldn't bear to leave, and as she stepped into the cabin, her eyes welled up with tears.
Mir gave Alina a light kiss on the forehead and said, "Alina, please wait for me in France." β
Before Alina could reply, some of the French nobles crowded into the cabin one after another, separating Alina from Mir.
"Mr. Detective Edward, we're about to sail." Cole leaned over to Mir's side and said.
"Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Miller, they are entrusted to you."
"You're welcome, that's my duty."
When Cole saw Mir who was about to leave, he suddenly remembered something and forgot to explain it, he called out to Mir and took out a piece of paper from his pocket.
"Here is the address where I live in France, and you can write it down when you send it, and I will forward it to Mademoiselle Alina."
Mir was very surprised by Cole's private address, whether it was his good intentions or something, he could hardly refuse, and the ship was about to leave, so he had to take the letter from Mir.
"Thank you very much, Monsieur Miller, and I will pay a visit to your home when I get to France."
Cole stood on the deck and gave a military salute to Mir as a sign of the most respectful manners, however, Mir's letter was snatched by Chris, who rushed to the stationery, and Chris was amazed as he carefully read the contents of the letter.
"Mill, this is his scheming, do you know what is written on this letter?"
Chris had to admire the despicable tactics used by Cole, he could hide from Mir, but the contents of Cole's letter could not be hidden from Chris.
"I haven't had time to see it yet."
Mill's focus wasn't on the letterhead at all, but he was focused on Alina's imminent departure from New Orleans, which he hoped would be waiting for him for the next four years.
Chris handed the letter to Mir, who withdrew his gaze and took the letter, although the handwriting on the letter was extremely neat, but Mir couldn't read what was written.
"Chris, please translate for me." Mill thinks Chris can read it.
Chris shrugged and said, "What the hell! All right! I'll tell you the easiest way possible, and it's your address on the letterhead, but Cole has rewritten it in Germanic. β
Mir suddenly remembered what Chris had reminded him of, and he instantly became furious, and raised a middle finger at Cole, while his mouth kept spitting fragrant fragrance.
For Chris, he probably understood some of the meaning of the curse in Mir's mouth, but it was the first time he had seen Mir use strange and unfamiliar gestures.
