Chapter 17: Surprise
Mir got up very early today and made a hearty breakfast himself, and he ate while staring at the time on his pocket watch.
There was still an hour before the detectives arrived, and he was going to arrive at the New Orleans Hotel a little later, so that Mill would show that he was insignificant in their eyes.
Despite this, Mir was still not happy, because the weather was not good at all, and the hazy white fog outside the window hid Mir's happiness.
As Mir was about to clean up the table, he saw three people standing in the doorway of the room and greeted Mir with a smile.
"Hello, excuse me, are you Mr. Detective Edward?" A polite woman asked.
"Yes, I am." Mir was shocked, "Oh! Oh, my God! She's so similar! ”
Another black man appeared inside Mill's house and said, "Hello Detective Edward, General Amos Stoddard has sent us to assist you in your case. ”
Mir was so immersed in the appearance of a beautiful woman that he couldn't hear what the black man was saying.
A tall, lanky white man stood cautiously behind them and said, "Hello, Dear Mr. Detective Edward. ”
Mir came back to his senses, and he exclaimed again, "Oh my God! His demeanor and demeanor were too similar to Ian's, they were carved out of a mold. ”
Mill didn't know what Uncle Amos had used to send two people who looked so similar to him to assist him in his case.
He was worried that he would fall in love with the woman, and his voice and appearance seemed to be like Alina's own, which made him a little overwhelmed.
"My house is a bit of a mess, if you don't dislike it, you can sit there." Mir motioned for them to sit on the couch in the living room.
"Thank you, Mr. Edward." They said in unison very politely.
Mir poured them a glass of brandy, and then Mir sat across from them, not knowing what to say, his eyes looking at the black man and the beautiful woman.
"Mr. Edward, what are we going to do next?" The woman took a sip of wine and said.
The woman's question seemed to stop Mill, who was going to stay at the New Orleans Hotel today, had already packed his belongings, and had not expected them at all.
Mir could hardly speak, for such a beautiful woman living in a hotel room with three men would be a shameful joke to be told by the French.
Mill turned to look at the kitchen and said, "Have you had breakfast?" ”
"I've already eaten it, sir." The woman replied.
"Last night I investigated the room where Ian lived, and the murder case was indeed very tricky, in order to find the murderer's trace quickly, I was going to spend the night there, waiting for the murderer to come to the door by himself." Mill changed the way he described it.
"Mr. Edward, I see, we're here to help." The woman replied heartily.
During Mircha's observations, he thought that the woman in front of him was their commander, or captain or something.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Edward, I forgot to introduce you, my name is Madeleine Loren, I'm from France, you can also call me Ruili."
"Okay, Miss Ruili." Mir said with a smile.
Ruili introduced the black man to his right and said, "This is Martin Angelus, from Saint-Domingue, and his mother is from the sun never sets, and she is a mixed race. ”
Santo Domingue? Mir seems to have a great shadow on this place.
Ruili saw that Mir's expression changed a little unusually, and she asked, "Mr. Edward, what's wrong with you?" Are you feeling unwell? ”
Mir shifted the subject to Ian, shook his head, and said, "I'm fine, seeing him I thought of an old friend." ”
"Yes, General Stoddard said the same, Martin's appearance is too much like Ian, the general has already recognized him as his godson, and the general only wants to keep Martin by his side or by your side."
After listening to Ruili's statement, Mir seemed to understand Uncle Amos's intentions.
"This is Vincent Junier, from St. Louis." Ruili continued.
Mir stood up happily and said, "If there are no outsiders present, you can just call Mir, don't see outsiders, I welcome you very much!" ”
The three of them stood up and bowed deeply at the same time and said, "Thank you, Mr. Edward." ”
Mir calculated that the time was very close to the time of departure, and Mir took his pocket watch and ordered them to follow him towards the New Orleans inn.
He was not allowed to ride in a carriage on this trip, and he had calculated last night that the time it would take him from the port of New Orleans to the hotel would be the same as the time it would take him to get from home to the hotel.
Halfway down Bourbon Street, Mill saw a tailor shop, and he asked the owner to tailor himself a dark blue trench coat, a white shirt, and a dark blue deer hunting hat.
In order to create the image of a detective, he went to a grocery store and bought a dark brown pipe, as well as a large amount of tobacco, but he did not take it with him, and wanted to store it here temporarily, he needed to wait for the costume to be made.
Eventually, he went to a leather goods store, where he asked the owner to order a pair of dark brown leather gloves and a pair of dark blue leather shoes.
He stood in front of the New Orleans hotel and glanced at the time on his watch, which was half an hour later than expected.
He walked into the hotel with great joy, and as he stepped up to the third floor, he heard dissatisfaction with himself coming from room 320.
Mir coughed dryly in a pretended gesture to signal his arrival, causing the detectives to immediately shut their mouths.
He walked into the room and saw Chris standing with the five detectives, and he unceremoniously said to Chris, "Inspector Louie, are you ready with the architectural drawings I want?" ”
Chris was so annoyed that he patted his forehead and said, "Damn it! I actually forgot, and after a while I went to the boss to ask for drawings. ”
A diminutive police officer questioned, "Are you Detective Edward?" ”
"Yes, I am, what's the problem?" Mir asked curiously.
The man's gaze was locked on Ruili, and he said in a very arrogant tone: "You are half an hour late, and we will investigate this murder first." ”
Then his eyes locked on Martin, and he pointed at him and said, "Also, I don't like him, I don't want to see him here." ”
"Shorty! What are you talking about? I don't care who you are, you can't command me! Martin was discriminated against by the French, he felt insulted, and he resisted.
"Stupid guy! Do you know what you're doing? Mir said angrily.
He shrugged his shoulders and said, "Of course, I am my only request, please cooperate." ”
"This is New Orleans, and now it's under the jurisdiction of General Amos Stoddard, and it's not your turn to meddle in this case!"
Never before had Mir seen such a brutal and vulgar man in the French Quarter.
The man was not deterred by Stoddard, and he shouted, "Mr. Edward, please do not intimidate me with the title of General Stoddard!" Even you should know that General Stoddard will never be at your disposal. ”
"Chris! Please tell them about my personal relationship with General Stoddard. ”
Mir was almost furious, but he had to remain calm and gentlemanly and not want to have a pointless argument with the vicious dogs.
