Chapter 25: The Visit

Mir pondered for a moment, and noticed that the sky had become heavier, as if there was a precursor to a hurricane.

"Keep going, Vincent, I think we're almost there." Mill said.

They turned the last corner and saw a unique and detached house right in front of the park.

There were dark marble chimneys on the roof, even taller than the surrounding cypress trees, and a small amount of smoke danced into the sky.

The neat roof is brown, the walls below the roof are painted in ivory white, and various stones are inlaid on the surface of the walls, with brown oak windows, which appear rich in color and eclectic style.

Most of the renovated houses retain the appearance of the French character, but after the imagination of the designers of the Kingdom of Spain, they were designed with red sloping roofs, and there are usually flower pot racks outside the windows, and French spider plants are planted inside.

Vincent and Mill stood outside the fence of the house, and saw the wooden number plate of number 113 hanging on the wall of the gate, which was strangely quiet and uninhabited, and then they observed the layout of the courtyard, the stone pavement was dilapidated and overgrown with weeds, which were almost waist-high.

The door of the house was closed, which meant that Father Cavendish was not at home, but Vincent, fantasizing about seeing the priest, reluctantly knocked on the door and shouted his name.

In a few moments the door opened, and Adrian stepped out, walking forward with difficulty, and Mill did not see him on his cane.

Adrian stood in the doorway, saw a stranger there, looked at Vincent with a strange look, and then asked Mill, "Mr. Edward, who is this?" ”

"Father, he is now one of my members, his name is Vincent Junier, and he was sent by Uncle Amos to assist me in my case." Mill said with a smile.

Vincent, standing in front of Adrian, bowed deeply and said, "Hello, Father Cavendis, I am a Bible reader at St. Louis Church, and it is a great pleasure to meet you. ”

"Oh?" Adrian thought for a moment and said, "Is that young man with potential who is about to become an exorcist?" ”

"Yes, Father, the Priest, Mr. Hachas, is a teacher at my school." Vincent said excitedly.

Adrian opened the door and said, "Welcome, please come in." ”

The two said in unison, "Thank you." ”

They walked into Adrian's house, which seemed to be a completely different world, with the hall beautifully decorated, the furniture, tables, and paintings on the walls, set off by oil lamps, showing luxury and sophistication.

While they looked at the house in amazement, Adrian didn't know where he had gone, and they didn't seem to see any servants except Adrian.

Vincent stretched out his hands to the fire, trying to get closer to it, warming his body and soothing the slightest tiredness in his body.

On the side, Mir was observing the murals in the corridor, and he saw the authentic works of the French oil painting masters.

Mir knew this painting as a magnificent landscape of Tivoli, and he was fascinated by the scenery in the painting, and the charming castle came to Mir's eyes vividly, and he felt that he had become the master of the castle, standing under the castle with a domineering attitude, surrounded by beautiful women and children, and old people, who enjoyed the comfort of the castle.

This reminded Mir of Alina, who, like the beautiful woman, walked and ran in the garden with her white dress, and everyone behind her was laughing and laughing.

Adrian was holding a steaming cup of coffee and bumped into Mir's soft spot for the painting, which he didn't bother.

Vincent helped Adrian with his coffee, propped him up in his chair, and said, "Father, where is your servant?" ”

"She contracted yellow fever and unfortunately left." Adrian said: "This was the residence of the Doge of France, and since Louisiana sold the Confederation, he received orders from the Emperor to return to his homeland, and then threw everything he had here, including the maid, to me. ”

Vincent took the coffee from the priest and said, "Thank you." ”

"The day before yesterday, I visited General Stoddard, and he said that he was going to rebuild a church in Jackson Square, probably with the same name as the church in St. Louis, and then I would take over." Adrian asked, "Mr. Junior, would you like to come here?" ”

Vincent was a little surprised that he had been invited by Father Cavendish and asked incredulously, "Really?" Father? ”

"Of course, it may be slow in time, but at least you can be an exorcist here." Adrian's eyes were blazing, and he admired the young man opposite.

He was very willing to be promoted from the second to the third rank, and he was very willing to wait a few more years, and he thought it was a great thing to be excited to grow up under the teachings of Father Cavendish.

"Thank you very much, Father Cavendis." Vincent exclaimed with great joy: "In return, I will arrange for a maid tomorrow, who can help you with household chores and yards in case of your mobility problems." ”

Mir was disturbed by Vincent's sudden voice, and he came back to his senses and said, "No, Vincent, you need to arrange for a few more, so that they can talk to the priest when they are fine." ”

Adrian stared at the coffee mist and said, "I'm sorry, Mir, I didn't bother you, but the coffee seems to be cold." ”

"It's okay, Father, it's hot, and I like to drink cold coffee." Mill said, sitting in a chair.

"Mir, do you see her face?" Adrian asked.

Mill shook her head and said, "No, she was very far away from me, and I was afraid that she would see me, so I hid." ”

"What is she doing here?" Mir said as he drank his coffee in one gulp.

Adrian walked slowly to the fire and said, "She's looking for someone, a dead man." ”

Mir leaned in and asked, "Is she related to the dead?" ”

"I suspect she's looking for the maid's body." Adrian pointed out the window and said, "Last year, I had someone bury her in the mountains. ”

Mir frowned, he stood by the window, looking out over the hillside, looking for the unusual growth of the tree, however, that tree was where the witch had disappeared.

"Father, she went there and didn't seem to find anything." Mill said.

"Yes, though, I saw someone very special, and she met him."

When Adrian was finished, his eyes closed, his hands stirring a mysterious power around the fire, his dark blue robe swaying gently, and the mirror on the fireplace showed the scene of the witch's meeting with La Curilla Carmen.

"What?" Mir exclaimed, "Oh my God! Are they the same kind of people? ”

"I'm not sure." Adrian replied weakly.

Vincent's eyes widened and he shouted, "Sir, look! The priest put their appearance on the mirror. ”
