Chapter 12: Trainees appear
"Now we need to find out why the professors from Princeton are attending our summer camp?" Otilia asked in a whisper as Tommy Hawke, who was hunched over at his desk with an advertising slogan, handed over a cup of coffee.
Tommy stopped and took the coffee, "Thank you, Miss Farrell, you know what?" Although I was intrigued and convinced that the professors at Princeton would never participate because they were interested in our summer camp or any of us, I was not prepared to waste my time on such useless speculations, regardless of who it was and why, first, to use this opportunity to add a bright touch to my resume, and second, to make money now, in the name of professors at Princeton University, to make money from those who have money! β
"Okay, the school told me to increase the intensity of the summer camp, and the principal said to me that other teachers could be involved, and said that I could go on vacation normally, and he wanted to talk to you about the donation that would eventually be donated to the school." Otilia Farrell said to Tommy.
She's the big boy's mentor, but now she doesn't seem to be doing any real mentoring work, and most of the time, it's Tommy asking her to help with something.
This made her feel that she might be inexperienced, because although she participated in many summer camps in high school, she was a participant, and she did not have the experience of building such an organization from scratch, and in some ways, her instructor was actually the same as Tommy in front of her, Dennis who was collecting supplies at this time, and Pam was spreading rumors, she was a complete newcomer.
And Otilia thinks that Tommy may also need more experienced instructors who can constantly provide him with ideas, rather than asking him to make decisions every time, although she is very interested in this summer camp, she feels that she still has to leave the choice to Tommy.
"No, you've been here, Miss Farrell, and tell the principal that if the instructor changes, or if he dares to try to force us to increase our donation by providing what he calls school resources, I'll give him the middle finger on the day the professor arrives at Princeton and tell him that this is the welcome ceremony that the principal taught me." When Tommy heard Otilia's words, he immediately objected.
Seeing Tommy's objection, the smile on Otilia's face became a little sweeter: "Really? I thought you would need the help of teachers who have a lot of experience in tutoring clubs. β
"The Bible says, 'Cedar is a beam and pine is a rafter, and no one else is allowed to enter my room.'" With that, Tommy Hawk drank the coffee in his hand, handed the cup back to Otilia, and then turned around and continued to work at his desk.
Otilia took the coffee cup from Tommy, and felt that the guy had just said something strange, it was a verse from the Song of Solomon, which meant that he didn't want anyone to set foot in his room.
Tommy does use it at this point to represent the feeling that he doesn't want other teachers to intervene.
But the problem is that in the next stanza of this verse, my wife, among the daughters, is like a lily among thorns.
These were the words of King Solomon to his lover.
What is this guy hinting at? He's either gay, his best couple is Dennis or Pam, or both of them, or they're not, and he's the only woman in the group.
"Are you hinting at me? Tommy? This is not something you should think about now, and when you get your college acceptance letter, you can be generous and tell me that liking someone is not a bad thing, and you can tell her generously, but at a more appropriate time. Otilia hesitated, but finally felt out of the teacher's work ethic and uncontrollable curiosity, and reminded Tommy.
Tommy turned his head to look at her, and then continued to busily look through the stack of materials in front of him: "Of course, Miss Farrell, there will be a day, I don't have time to think about it right now, I'm thinking about finding a few elite high school students who signed up first, and asking them to act as free guidance assistants for you to share your work for the sake of gaining experience." β
"Did you find it?" Otilia breathed a sigh of relief after listening to Tommy's words.
"Found a few." Tommy handed the selected materials to Otilia: "The first place, Chris Ferguson, lacks enough competition honors and was asked by his father to rush into the Ivy League elite Los Angeles visitors. β
β¦β¦
"Chris! The other party All-In! β
In a reservation casino somewhere in Massachusetts, a young man wearing a cowboy hat sat outside the casino with a blank face, constantly placing the playing cards in front of him according to the news from a young man who ran out of the casino.
Obviously, this is a game of Texas Hold'em, and the young man is unable to set foot in the casino because of his age, but it does not affect him from betting on this game with the people in the casino.
Four community cards have been drawn, namely the 4 of diamonds, the 9 of hearts, the 9 of spades, and the 10 of spades.
βAll-Inγβ The young man outside the casino spoke, and his companion ran in.
Soon exclamations and shouts erupted inside: "Straight flush kills four nines!" "Hell yes!" "I know that the other party dares to go all-in! What guts! β
The young man stood up, pressed the brim of his cowboy hat with his hand, and the corners of his mouth turned up, and walked towards the parking lot in the distance.
"Where are you going! Chris! Attend a boring summer camp so that I can get into the Ivy League as my father asks. β
β¦β¦
"Second place, David Schaefer, a poor ghost who attended a Georgia public high school and was about the same as me, believed that college could change his fate."
β¦β¦
In Dunwoody, Georgia, a white fat high school student wearing glasses was handing two video tapes in his hand and a few change bills to the two black youths in front of him.
The black youth opened his bag, which was full of books.
"It was stolen from the Gwinnett County Library." The black man handed the bag to the white fat boy and said in his mouth.
The white fat boy greedily stroked these books, flipped through them one by one, and then changed his face: "I'll let you steal according to the list of books I gave you!" Several copies were stolen by mistake! β
"David, I wouldn't have made a living if I was literate!" The black young man counted the money, turned away, walked a few steps, and then turned back to him and asked, "I can get you some more tomorrow." β
David zipped up his schoolbag and carried it behind his back, behind the lenses, a pair of small eyes looked at the black man with bright eyes: "No, I'm going to a summer camp tomorrow, and I'll contact you when I come back." β
β¦β¦
"Third place, Zoe Winters, an Italian-American girl from North Adams Public High School in Massachusetts."
β¦β¦
"Zoe!" A middle-aged woman shouted loudly to a dark-haired girl sitting on the lawn in the distance, pensive.
The girl turned her head and looked at the woman: "What's the matter, Mommy?" β
"Paul called and wanted to ask you out to watch a movie together, and if you agreed, he could drive you up." The woman smiled: "My daughter is very popular, nice. β
"Call that stupid* to the woman poster*** go." The girl scolded in a disdainful whisper.
"What do you say? Zoe? The mother did not hear her daughter clearly and asked loudly.
The girl named Zoe responded with a sweet smile to her mother: "It's nothing, Mom, I'm just thinking about what I need to prepare for summer camp, tell Paul for me, I don't have time." β
β¦β¦
"No. 4, Catherine Nunn, Elite Girls at Private High School in Manchester, New Hampshire."
β¦β¦
"Those classmates killed countless lives! Butterflies, beetles, ants and even small birds, they brutally made them into specimens! In a luxury car, the brown-haired girl sat in the back seat and said loudly in a dissatisfied tone.
"yes." The father who was driving the car nodded: "It's indeed a bit cruel." β
"But they got compliments from the school, what about me? I didn't hurt my life, Dad, but Teacher Gianna criticized me harshly and called you. "There is a serious problem with education in this country. β
The father held the steering wheel and smiled bitterly: "Catherine, I don't think Teacher Gianna is a little excessive, but I think you frightened her." β
βWhyοΌ I'm just proposing that instead of hurting those lovely lives, we should simply choose the creatures that everyone in this school hates to make specimens, and the most hated creatures, without doubt, is the principal, so that we can complete the homework assigned by the school and never have to see the nasty creatures on campus again. The girl's tone was full of unhappiness: "We all know that Teacher Gianna actually hates the principal too. β
