Chapter 8: Rescuing the Mystic Light (Part I)

July 932 of the new calendar.

It was the height of summer, and it stands to reason that a large number of nobles would take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere after the war to come to the coastline of the Endless Sea to enjoy the sun and sand.

However, the wheel of fate has already begun to turn, and since the return of the goddess of time and space, this is destined to be an extraordinary time, leaving countless epics and legends.

Today, countries with coastal territories - the Republic of Isha, the Kingdom of Randall, the Holy Church of Salman and other countries have built long fortifications near their respective coastlines.

Ever since the sea was dyed red, countless sea beasts began to swarm to the land, and although most of them could only live in water, even so, amphibious monsters such as the multi-headed sea serpent alone caused enough trouble for various countries.

And this phenomenon also reminded Leah and the others of Orona Andahir's other title in addition to "True Ancestor" - the Mother of Ten Thousand Demons.

Unlike Rain Hime, who dominates destruction, Orona dominates desire, and brainless beasts are always full of appetites, and there is no doubt that they are a type of being that is susceptible to Orona's corruption.

Snakes and sea serpents, in order to be able to catch more prey at the same time, they grow more heads under the power of Orona, these hydra snakes are found all year round in dark swamps or deep oceans. Attacks using multiple heads at the same time are always frustrating for adventurers who strayed into their territory. Among them, the Hydra is a monster that can be on a par with dragons, has caused waves in history, destroyed villages, invaded kingdoms, and haunted the mouths of novelists or minstrels.

Octopuses, under the power of Orona, become huge enough to strangle a ship's branches with their wrists and feet. Perennial sailors are afraid of this strange creature, giving them the cursed name - the sea monster. No one dared to mention these sea monsters at sea, and the superstitions of the sailors led them to believe that if their names were called, they would wake up from the depths of the ocean and find them.

There are also huge fish, whose backs resemble an island, that allow unsuspecting crew members to anchor and dock, only to die in the belly of the fish. Legend has it that pirates would hide their looted treasures on the bodies of these monsters, and since they always swim, it is impossible to find their treasures except for those who know their habits.

Today, the crimson waters are imbued with an evil power that mutates the beasts, and in order to satisfy their appetites, they evolve into powerful monsters that march to the land and feast.

For Leah and the others, the top priority is to go to the mermaid kingdom and then seal Orona. However, these sea beasts kept them from moving. It's not that the Republic of Isha needs their defense, to be honest, although the Republic of Isha is very small, its military force is definitely not low, and it is not too easy for powerful warriors to defend a small coastline.

The problem is - there is no old captain. Whether it is the Republic of Isha or the Kingdom of Randall, the old captain who can set sail on the sea ravaged by this magical beast is even rarer than the Pā—‹3 left by the goddess Evite.

So Leah and the others had to stay here, looking for possible candidates from various countries, and by the way, help the soldiers clean up the "seafood".

"It's not going to work like this, anyway, the ship is sturdy enough, I think we'd better find a reliable captain and try it first." ā€

In a makeshift fort on the shoreline, Rowan flipped a multi-headed sea snake steak in a pan.

"I agree with you, Rowan. Even if we can't go to the deep sea right away, it's good to have those captains gain some experience on a short voyage, and if we don't have the right person, we'll train one ourselves. ā€

Once the steak had changed color, Alec began to sprinkle salt and pepper on top.

"Tomorrow the scouts from across the Galoa Desert will come back, and if there is no suitable candidate, we will do so. ā€

Leah held up the red wine sauce to put the finishing touches on the steak, and today it was Alec and Rowan who had come to join in the fun.

During this time, little Lori has set her sights on the desert captains who are driving the sand boats. To be honest, she didn't have any hope for it.

As for Hanufain, she has not been able to be contacted so far. In a world without internet and telephones, the speed at which information is transmitted on the continent of Evette is despering.

Unless Hanufain returned to Mage City and saw the message she had left behind, Leah couldn't imagine how long it would take for the story of the seaside to reach the ears of the Great Sage by word of mouth from the bards.

After the discussion, the sea snake steak was also out of the pot, and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal. That's the benefit of fighting sea beasts – seafood is eaten every day, and the taste is up to you. From multi-headed sea snake steak made with red wine to sea-inspired octopus salad with olive oil, and even sea salt-baked tide crab.

Accompanied by a glass of white wine, you will feel that there is nothing wrong with guarding the line here.

Just as everyone was feasting, the alarm bell suddenly rang.

"What's the situation?"

Rowan jumped to his feet, quickly shoved the rest of the steak into his mouth, and walked out of the room as he chewed.

"It's a ship!

On the watchtower, the guards shouted loudly.

This is a bit unusual, the people who can sail in this environment, except for the old captain, whose existence is doubtful, are basically guys who are so abnormal that they want to commit suicide.

"Alec. ā€

"Here you go, Lord Leah. ā€

Leah took the telescope from Alec and looked into the distance. I saw that on the crimson sea, a huge ship was struggling to move forward under the siege of sea beasts.

"Oh my god, that's not true, is it?"

The ships reflected in the telescope are a little familiar, no, very familiar. Strengthened magic arrays, shield magic arrays, and wind magic circles on the sails, if it weren't for these magic arrays, I'm afraid this ship would have gone to the bottom of the sea long ago.

"That's the Mystic Light!"

The Mystic Light is the ship of the Fareen family, which Leah used to hunt down pirates during an outing between the two cities when she was a sophomore at the Academy of Magical Arts. Afterward...... It was stolen by a female pirate named Katrina.

"What to do, Lord Leah?"

Alec asked.

"Save that ship, move fast! Maybe the captain we want is up there!"

Leah shouted. She remembered that Katrina was a madman who could drive a ship into a maelstrom and out again.

"Rescue the ship!"

Rowan gave a loud order, and the soldiers immediately picked up their weapons and acted in an orderly manner. (To be continued.) )
