Chapter Seventy-One: Community Shield in Hand

Tottenham's attack today was a change from the usual and there was no rush to launch a counter-attack.

Instead, he patiently organizes attacks in positional battles and looks for opportunities to score.

Of course, this is specially ordered by head coach Benjamin, because he knows that from this season onwards, except for a few strong teams, there will be few opponents who will play against them.

At a time when utilitarian football is prevalent, it is certainly not uncommon for some teams that consider themselves inferior to the defending champions of the Premier League to put their buses on the bus and sacrifice buckets when facing Tottenham.

Then it will be difficult for Benjamin's team to defeat their opponents again and again with their sharp counter-attacks as they did last season.

Therefore, the Lily Army took advantage of this "warm-up match" with Manchester City today to polish its positional offensive ability.

In the first ten minutes of the first half, Tottenham did not make any threatening attacks, despite having a slight advantage in possession.

However, their goalkeeper Alisson had a couple of eye-catching performances to deflect City's shots one by one.

In the twelfth minute, Lamela and Eriksen linked up front, but in the end, the Argentine's shot was blocked by a Manchester City defender.

City counter-attacked, Kolarov broke down the left and fired a low cross, Nasri, who was cut into the box, was ill-prepared and fired a backheel shot wide of Vertonghen's mark.

In the 21st minute, Harry Kane broke through and passed the ball, and Eriksen won the ball on the edge of the penalty area and turned and fired a low left-footed shot into the far corner of the goal.

Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero stood in front of the goal.

1 to 0! Or the combination of Kane and Eriksen!

Two outstanding young players have not stopped there after the growth and harvest of last season.

missed the World Cup that just ended this summer, and both of them were holding back a lot of energy in their hearts.

Eriksen let out a rare roar after the goal, and then hugged Kane, who provided an assist for him.

Benjamin also smiled on the sidelines and applauded his disciples for their outstanding performance.

Klich's pass at the back was intercepted, but Danny Ross burst into the left side of the box and fired from a tight angle only to be blocked by a quick return to the defence.

After taking the lead, instead of weakening their attack, Tottenham played more vigorously.

Eriksen cut through the middle and Kane stopped the ball and volleyed wide of the far corner at the right-hand post.

Five minutes later, from a Tottenham corner, Eriksen lobbed high into the box and Kane's header was blocked by Caballero.

Benjamin looked at Kane, who was slightly regretful on the field, and thought of something.

As a striker, Kane's shooting skills are already at a top level.

But other than that, dribbling, speed, agility and so on can only be said to be average.

It's not bad, but it's not that good either.

This also means that Kane's individual breakthrough ability is a bit behind other top strikers who have become famous.

And if he is allowed to play as a center forward, the young Kane is also not outstanding in terms of confrontation ability and fulcrum role.

There are some things that are difficult to practice, and there are some things that can be improved through hard work.

For example, speed and ball sense, Kane, who has been trained professionally in football for so many years, still wants to improve, which is tantamount to a fool's dream.

But the physicality and how to act as the offensive fulcrum of the team's front court can be further strengthened through training and learning.

In addition, just like Kane's regular shooting skills before, after mastering Ibrahimovic's scorpion tail shot with the help of the system, Tottenham's England striker's shooting threat increased exponentially.

Kane's header is the same, it can be seen that he has worked hard, and he definitely practices a lot, but it doesn't seem to work very well on the field.

If his ability to score with headers can be strengthened one day, then it can greatly increase the defensive pressure of the opposing central defenders.

As the most important scoring point for the Tottenham team at the moment, Kane does not need to waste time trying to make up for his shortcomings.

The rest of the players up front are more than capable of helping Kane create chances and give him quality passes.

All Kane needs to do is live up to his team-mate's passes, whether it's overhead or kicks, as long as he can get the ball into the goal.

In addition to this priority, it would have been a bonus if he could also act as a fulcrum, play for his team-mates from time to time, and create scoring opportunities for Eriksen and Sadio Mane.

Kane has been given more opportunities with me, so he shouldn't be a seedling, and he will grow into a full body a little earlier, right?

Benjamin sighed lightly and thought to himself.

In the 42nd minute, Mane sent a through ball on the counter-attack, and Kane leaned on Boyata's cross to the middle.

Dembele shook off City's defenders and fired a long-range shot into the far corner from outside the box.

Two to zero!

Tottenham scored again just before half-time to stretch the gap to two points!

As soon as Kane said that Kane's fulcrum role was not enough, Kane assisted Dembele to score.

Isn't this a slap in the face?

No, this doesn't tell the story, what kind of ability is it to bully a Boyata who is not very capable in the first place.

Had it not been for Vincent Kompany's injury, the young Belgian centre-back would not have been able to get a start.

Compared to the predecessors Vertonghen and Alderweireld opposite, Boyata is still a little too tender.

Kane's usual opponents in training are all Vertonghen, and he is still very good at dealing with a small boyata.

At the end of the first half, Tottenham took a 2-0 lead.

With a two-goal lead, Benjamin had nothing to say at half-time, and too much praise would only make the players get carried away and underestimate the enemy.

At the beginning of the second half, Manchester City made a series of substitutions.

Manuel Pellegrini first replaced Nasri and Yaya Toure, who had been mediocre in the first half, with David Silva and James Milner.

Soon after, he was replaced by Sucullini and Scott Sinclair.

The rules of the Community Shield are different from those of the League, with six substitutions.

This is also the reason why the Community Shield is considered a friendly by many fans.

Seeing what this means, he doesn't want to give up yet, Benjamin thought as he pinched his chin.

Sinclair's cross from the right was met by Jovetic at the back post with a header at the post before David Silva's follow-up shot flew into the stands.

Milner passes the ball and Jovetic's long-range shot is saved by Alisson.

Unexpectedly, Pellegrini's substitution really worked, and Manchester City looked to have regained the initiative on the pitch.

Benjamin also responded by making six substitutions in a row, with Son Heung-min, Frank Lampard, Townsend, Alex Sandro, Demichelis and Kaboul coming off the bench.

In the 61st minute, Tottenham made a long pass from the back, Townsend crossed from the right, and Lampard bent his bow and kicked the goal.

The ball slid in an eerie arc after hitting Manchester City defender Nastasic, but Caballero couldn't save it and the ball grazed the underside of the crossbar and flew into the net.

Three to zero! Lock in the win!

Frank Lampard came off the bench to score his first goal for Tottenham after just three minutes off the bench.

There was no more suspense and Tottenham Hotspur won the 2014/15 English Community Shield with a 3-0 win over Manchester City.

Unlike the usual championship trophies, the Community Shield champion is really a prize shield.

Kabool, who only played a soy sauce game, happily picked up the Community Shield, and Tottenham ushered in a good start to the new season.
