Chapter 514: Mavi
Garrod didn't have time to wonder about the cause of the death of the upper elf. He knew it was Mavi who did it, and that was enough. To make matters worse, judging by the way she examined the other prisoners, it was clear that she intended to speed up the execution.
Another moonblade flew towards Garrod. He estimated its speed and fell to the ground. At the same time, he raised his foot and kicked the flying moonblade from below.
He almost killed his boots and the inside of his toes were shaved off. But Garrod did his thing: the moonblade shook and fell to the ground not far from him.
But getting your hands on weapons is another problem. As he walked towards it, a second moonblade flew again. At the same time, Garrod saw the owner of the first weapon draw a long dagger and walk towards him.
Garrod rolled to the side, and the second moonblade spun and flew back towards its owner. He took the opportunity to get his goal.
But instead of using the moon blade to protect himself, he threw it in the direction of his sister.
A caretaker issued a warning. Mavi vanished again, then reappeared next to her Shadow Crescent Knife. But in fact, she didn't have to worry about his attack at all. For the real target was not Mavi, but a small golden cone that she had leaned over to inspect - with four pearl-colored stones embedded in it.
The moonblade slashed head-on. The cone shattered, and the stone grains scattered in different directions.
Garrod had hoped that destroying the artifact would free the upper elves, but that was not the case. They were still prisoners, though he saw more than one of them with relieved expressions on their faces. In any case, Garrod seems to have at least prevented or postponed the execution of the upper elves.
His sister gave the answer. "That's smart. My little brother. But I'll fix it soon. ”
He didn't have a chance to worry about it. Because the caretaker with the dagger began to attack. She slashed back and forth at Garrod. In between attacks, the flying leg kicks him in the abdomen or in the legs. He stumbled and dodged each attack, but the wound on his leg grew more painful with each movement. Out of the corner of his eye, Garrod caught a glimpse of a second enemy aiming at him with a moonblade.
Garrod knew that the second caretaker didn't know he had seen her, and continued to fend off the first enemy's attack. But he kept an eye on the other opponent with his spare eyes.
The enemy in front of him kicked him again. The captain of the guard, risking her throat being cut with her dagger, leaned forward and grabbed her ankle.
Despite being caught off guard and losing her balance, she stabbed her hand with her dagger as much as she could. The tip of the knife grazed Garrod's wrist and the back of his hand, causing him to grunt in pain. But heedless of the danger, he pulled her to his side with all his might.
At last. Gallodra spun her in a sharp circle. The caretaker jerked violently.
But it wasn't the oncoming Moonblade that hit her. The weapon swept past the two of them, then flew high and turned back to its master. In fact, the weapon that sliced through the armor and severed the backbone of Garrod's enemies from behind was his sister's Shadow Crescent Knife. Mavi had already put on her helmet, and she took advantage of the moment when the moonblade was made to suddenly teleport to her brother's side, intending to sneak up on him from behind.
The caretaker fell into his arms, lifeless and angry on his face. Mavi disappeared again.
Another caretaker reached for the Moonblade that flew back. At that moment Garrod picked up his dagger and threw it at her. The Warden jumped to her feet, and the blade struck her in the chest. The small weapon failed to pierce the armor, but it distracted the Keeper slightly.
The moonblade swept past her hand, slicing through her weakly protected neck...... The caretaker's head was then immediately decapitated.
Garrod paused to gasp for breath - and felt a terrible pain in his left arm. He looked down. A long, sharp needle was found there. Garrod looked up, meeting Mavi's gaze.
Judging by the evil intentions in her eyes. Mavi wasn't going to just hurt him. He didn't die at her hands, he was just lucky. Garrod stared at his sister calmly, pulling out the needle and aside, unconcernedly. "Another failure. Your mistake was that you didn't kill me after catching me with a trap, Mavi. ”
"This mistake will soon be remedied," she said, pulling something out of a small pocket. "It's like I've dealt with our friends......"
Garrod looked over to the mages. They writhed in pain, but could not make any sound. A dark halo slowly enveloped them.
"I want you to appreciate my work, but you might want to mess with it again......"
Mavi threw what she had taken out of her pocket towards Garrod.
But the tiny black particles didn't make it to the captain of the guard, but were blown aside by a sudden gust of strong wind. When the particles splashed down on the flowers and trees, there was a terrible hissing sound. Garrod saw green smoke rising from the place where it had fallen.
His instinct led him to look towards Malfurion. At this time, the Grand Druid was on the other side of the upper elves. The two met eye contact, and thousands of years later, they were once again comrades on the battlefield side by side against a sinister adversary. Garrod understood what the Great Druid meant, and nodded. He acted, while the Grand Druid bent down, concentrating on another identical artifact. At this time, Malfurion has his back to the mad watcher.
Mavi cursed and reached into the bag again. Garrod rushed at his dagger.
Mavi ignores her brother and is bent on dealing with the Grand Druid. She raised her hand in the air.
Garrod threw the dagger without aiming, and it struck Mavi's helmet flat near the slit in her eye, giving her a brief startle. What was in her hand—whatever it was—spilled on the ground and did no harm.
Mavi pulled out the Shadow Crescent Knife once more, focusing her attention on Garrod.
"You seem to be exhausted, brother, and you are tired—old? It is all to blame on the great and glorious Great Druid! Everyone cheered for him. Because he participated in the purification of Tedahir. Cleaned up the nightmare pollution. But they forgot. He was also opposed to giving the World Tree proper blessings, so that the Night Elves could truly live in the world. Welcome to death! He killed your dear Sarah Hill, Garrod, so to speak, and she would have lived in good health and good forever, if it weren't for his self-righteousness!"
"Sarah Hill died because her hour had come," Garrod replied to his sister. "We're all the same. ”
Mavi laughed again. "Then you don't mind dying now. ”
She suddenly teleported to his right and swung her Shadow Crescent Knife violently. Garrod desperately turned around, and although he escaped with his life, he was inevitably injured. The blade slashed across his waist. He screamed in pain. He clutched his wound and staggered forward.
Although the knife did not injure the internal organs, it was still a heavy blow. Garrod pressed his hand against the six-inch-long wound as he searched for the moonblade that had killed the second Keeper.
In Mavi's opinion, her brother was no longer important, so she immediately turned towards the Great Druid. Malfurion was preoccupied with his work, not only to free the upper elves from their shackles, but also to prevent them from being killed by traps before they could do so. This made him unable to take his attention off Mordant and his compatriots, and he was defenseless against Mavi.
The pain and blood loss nearly overwhelmed him, but Garrod walked over to the Moonblade anyway. He only had one hand to use now, but he still did his best to grab the weapon. He could barely stand up straight. And I knew that if I did that, the blood would bleed even more. But Garrod forced himself to do so. He had to stand up straight to throw the Moonblade. Worse. He couldn't throw with his dominant hand.
He was a captain of the guard, an army commander, a leader, and then struggled to survive in the wilderness with his beloved wife. In many ways, life with Sarah Hill, regardless of his profession, has forced him to learn to be on the right track rather than to be on the right track.
Garrod threw the Moonblade.
The Moonblade flew towards Mavi as Garrod had expected. She heard the dangerous scream, and raised the Darkmoon Knife to mount the incoming weapon. Her careless movements reveal contempt for his "all-or-nothing" actions.
But instead of throwing the Moonblade horizontally, as is usually the case, Garrod threw it almost vertically. And in order to parry the imaginary flying weapon, the Shadow Crescent Knife in Mavi's hand was also held almost vertically.
And so, the flying moonblade slashed at her forearm near her wrist without hindrance. The blade cuts through the armor and into the flesh.
Mavi screamed and dropped her Darkmoon Blade.
Garrod's throw wasn't perfect. The moonblade flew back, only to fall in front of him instead of returning to his hand. He had to quickly bend down to pick it up. This action brought a new burst of sharp pain, which made him shiver for a moment.
When he stood up, he found that Mavi was no longer where she was. Garrod glanced in Malfurion's direction in fear, but the Grand Druid continued his work unscathed. His efforts eventually relieved the upper elves of their suffering, even though they remained immobile.
Garrod spotted Mavi running towards the far end of the clearing. Her injured hand hung limply, and she clutched the wound with her other hand.
With just a few more steps or a flash, she can enter the forest and escape. Garrod must stop her.
"Mavi!"
She stopped and looked back. Through the slits of the helmet's eyes, her eyes still radiated defiance and mockery.
He clenched the moon blade in his hand. "Surrender, Mavi! you're at the end of your rope. I don't want to kill you. ”
She laughed. "And you won't. As I said, that's the difference between us, Garrod. I'll do whatever is necessary, whatever it is. ”
Garrod began throwing the Moonblade. He heard voices of movement and speech coming from behind him. It sounded like they were clearly searchers from Darnassus and not Mavi's men.
Mavi's eyes shone with a sparkle of victory. "You idiot. I will see a great revival of our people...... You're just putting off what is coming. ”
When Garrod's moonblade came out of his hand, Mavi teleported away. The moonblade, which had been aimed at her calf, shot into the bushes without harmlessness, and finally bounced off the side.
"Elune, forgive me......" he whispered.
There was a faint ** sound from the direction of the upper elves. Garrod held his hand to his waist and staggered towards the Grand Druid. He had finally found a way to free the mages. At this moment, many upper elves collapsed to the ground unconscious.
Malfurion, who was helping Mordant, looked up. Gallode's heart swelled up with guilt again.
"I'm sorry, I failed. ”
"You didn't fail," the Grand Druid replied bluntly. "They're all alive. ”
Garrod swayed back and forth, the adrenaline that had supported him was subsided. He shook his head. "I'm talking about Mavi. I could have stopped her. I could have killed her. Instead, she's going to kill me. ”
"I know. Malfurion turned his head and watched as several sentries and two druids rushed out. "They'll find her. If they could, they would capture her alive. He looked at Garrod again. "You're not failing, Garrod. You are worthy of the Night Elves. Mavi is different. ”
"I—" Garrod felt the world begin to spin. His hand slipped away from the wound, allowing Malfurion to see how serious his injuries actually were. "I—"
"Cenarius is on top! Garrod! You should have told me!"
"She's my sister—"
Garrod collapsed, and the Grand Druid jumped to his feet and grabbed him. (To be continued......)
