Volume I: The End of the Outlaw 29

The long cold winter finally slowly returned, and the summer of Ravenhold suddenly followed.

As my training progressed, I was scared to find a lurker in the forest. They were all defenders of Ravenhold. The more I keep discovering lurkers, the more I feel a chill down my spine. There are far more than a few dozen of them. I guess the average scout might not really be able to spot them.

Then I heard Farad say that I wasn't just living in my cabin, and that I wasn't feeling well. I don't know if he was scaring me or teasing me, but I never noticed anything unusual in my bedroom. Farad insisted that as long as the bed in the room was covered with sheets, someone was sleeping. But maybe I'm thinking too much.

It's been more than half a year since I came to the manor, and I haven't set foot in the duke's castle. It wasn't until this day that I was called to the luncheon that I had the privilege of seeing the castle in full force.

But to my great disappointment, it is extremely unluxurious, and it can be said to be a bit shabby. There are no marble floors, no carpets, no strange hangings, and no paintings of family historical figures. Except for the large and bright hall on the first floor, there is nothing else to appreciate.

One after another, many strange fellows of all sorts appeared in the hall, and there were ten people sitting at each long table, and I think there must be at least twenty tables. The hall quickly filled with people. They don't seem to be very familiar with each other or very close to each other. They hardly speak to each other.

Standing in the doorway, I haven't been getting in, I don't like to join in the fun. What's more, I don't know anyone except Karl and Farad.

Farad and Winston sat on the chair, and Karl Ru sat on the side seat next to him. He all saw me, and Karl gave me a look, telling me to find a place to sit. But I still couldn't get off my ass and stood in the corner. Winston nodded at me, and kept talking to Farad.

I guess the people in the room are all extremely dangerous guys, or maybe a group of assassins. I don't know what level I am among them. But I didn't want to compete with them, maybe it was just because of poor self-esteem.

After the banquet was opened, I still didn't see the mysterious Duke, and I didn't covet the meal, so I quietly left.

It feels like something is going to happen, maybe in recent times. But in my heart, I always felt that I was not ready, but I didn't know where to break through. Farad and Karl Ru only laughed and didn't say anything when they heard me say this.

In August, when the grain in the fields is almost ripe. I finally received my first official assignment after coming to Ravenhead...... Travel to Talenmere.

I don't know if I'm really ready to take on this world. But I don't think I'm going to die anytime soon. After spending more than half a year in the mountains and forests, I finally got out of here.

Ravenhold is tucked away between towering mountain ridges, which are deeply covered by forests. If you don't have a guide, it's really not easy to find a cave in the mountains. I really want to be a bird and fly through this forest! I'm a little impatient.

Like a bird that has opened its cage, a prosperous fortune that has loosened its chains, a wild horse that has taken off its reins, and a child who has been freed. Looking out at the vast forests and mountains in the distance, I shouted.

I don't remember how long we walked in the forest when we came, but it took two days to get out. After a big circle, crossing an unknown river, and reading the signs, I officially stepped into Talenmere County.

I remember the road and the vast wilderness I had walked last year. Autumn doesn't seem to have come yet, and the warm wind makes me a little fluttery. Even when I saw the occasional beast on the side of the road, I didn't feel any danger, and even Farad's warning before leaving seemed a bit alarmist.

After passing through more than a dozen villages, I finally saw the roof of the tower in Talenmere, and the endless farmland around Talenmere had already begun to be harvested.

It's still the same road, it's still the town. Talon Mill, I'm back. But are the hooligans still there? I still remember that face!

At Farad's arrangement, I went to an inn called Bear's Paw, on the edge of the town square in Talenmere, and stayed in a room on the third floor of the inn.

The room is at the end of the hallway, but it is spacious and has two large windows.

How can there still be clothes? There's someone inside!

I was taken aback by looking at a piece of clothing thrown on the bed. Oh? Or a woman's dress. Is this sending me a female companion again? That's a good treatment.

Except for the clothes room, I went to the window to check the surroundings. Looking at the bustling crowd on the street, I felt a little trance, and the scenes of the past like dogs resurfaced in front of me. But when I looked back, I was shocked to find a woman sitting on the chair next to the table!

A cold sweat broke out on his body. I didn't hear her come in!

She was playing with a dagger in her hand and staring at me.

"A fool was sent." The woman said to me with a blank face. This woman is not ugly, she can be said to be quite good-looking, and her words disgust me.

The afterglow of my right eye flashed, and my face subconsciously ducked back. A throwing knife slammed into the wall to my left. If it hadn't been for the quick dodge, the knife would have been stuck in the right side of my face by now.

Glancing to the right, I found nothing but the slightly swaying curtains. But at this moment, another flying knife flew towards the door in front of me. I ducked to the right again. Throwing knives are nailed into the window frames.

I had pulled out the dagger from my waist, and when I looked up, I saw that there was a man who was not very tall behind her, except for the woman who was sitting.

"Is this a welcome ceremony?" As I spoke, I reached out and pulled the knife off the window frame and the wall. Staring at a man and a woman in front of him.

"Ravenhold's brother needs a pair of eyes behind his back." The woman chuckled and looked at me.

"I have ears."

"It's a pity that I wasn't alert enough."

"Your name is Bill?"

"You're Alyssa?" I stared at the woman, who had a similar name to Ellie.

"His name is Kevin." The woman tilted her head and said.

"Kevin, you can't feel his tenderness in the dagger he throws at all." I stared at this guy who wasn't tall, but had a bit of a big nose and a little small eyes. I have the impression that the men who bear the name Kevin seem to be very gentle.

"Bill's people seem to be good-tempered."

Am I good-tempered? Hum......

"Lone Wolf sent you to assist us, and we hope to have a pleasant cooperation." Actually, she looks good when she laughs.

The woman gave a place to meet in the evening. The next afternoon I spent the rest of the afternoon walking through the streets of the town. I also found the tavern that I had been kicked out of, but I didn't meet the guys before.

Familiarizing yourself with the terrain of your area is the first thing to do, and this is an important lesson that Farad taught me.

When night fell over Talenmere, I arrived at the meeting place on time. I was startled when I pushed the door in, and there was a room full of people staring at me, at least twenty people.

Alyssa stood up from behind the crowd and clapped her hands, and the group stopped talking.

"New here, Bill Max." She introduced.

I looked around and nodded in response, but I didn't see a hint of friendliness in their eyes. So I leaned against the doorway.

I don't know if it's better to talk about things in the evening, or if some things can only be talked about in the evening.

It could be tonight, and I find myself being shut out. They seemed to have finished talking when I came.

Alyssa waved her hand. "That's it, let's do it tomorrow night. Ralph, he's over to you. Alyssa pointed at me.

"I'm not a babysitter."

"Lone wolf named you to be responsible."

"Hmph, the sword has no eyes."

The guy named Ralph squinted at me as he spoke. His eyes were clearly disgusted, disdainful, and disgusted! What a fuck!

Alyssa looked at me, smiled and said, "Follow him, eh...... Don't die. ”
