Volume I: The End of the Outlaw 88

Today is the second day of Fred's death. The city of Lordaeron is as calm as ever. The people got up in the morning, went out, ate, worked, and everything was as usual.

But I overheard from the security department in Lordaeron and learned that all the security and intelligence services in the four areas from the palace to Lordaeron had blown up. The nobles who had not left the royal city had quietly left Lordaeron as fast as they could.

I immediately sent a message to Lone Wolf, but my mind was full of doubts. Who did this? It is said that King Alterac's illness has been cured by the princess who has returned from Dalaran. It stands to reason that it shouldn't have been Oliden's doing, but if it was really Oliden, who would he throw this black cauldron to?

I've been out of Ravenhold's grip for a long time. Some time ago, Lone Wolf sent someone to Lordaeron to investigate the situation, but I was left out...... Could it be that this matter also has something to do with Ravenhold? If Ravenhold had sent someone to kill him, what kind of benefit would Ravenhold receive?

In the last case, if it wasn't Oriden or Ravenhod, who would have done it? Could it be Barov who borrowed a knife to kill again?

Ralph's fate is now uncertain, if Ralph is still alive. So what happened to him now? Could Ralph have defected? If Ralph hadn't mutinied, had he become a rotting corpse in the sewers?

Squatting in the courtyard of the church, I drew circles on the ground as I pondered these questions, which had so far had no answers.

I couldn't just stay there, I stood up. Although this matter seems to have nothing to do with me, I am always at ease. Even if it really doesn't have anything to do with me, it probably doesn't hurt to know more about it.

Taking advantage of the darkness, I entered the offices of the Security Department of King Lordaeron. In a place where people only stare at each other, the guards have a much higher chance of making mistakes than with machines. The main thing is that in the second half of the night, people who have nothing to do can become very sleepy.

Searching for information in this place is much more dangerous than in the Alchemy Academy, but it is much easier to retrieve information. The papers of Fred's violent death were stacked on the desk in his office.

I quickly flipped through the contents of the document. In just two days, they arrested and interrogated nearly 100 people. However, from their confessions, in addition to not knowing, it is some garbage information that seems to have heard about speculation.

I had no clue where Gilnes' group of catfish were hiding now, and the lone wolf's instructions had not yet arrived. I'm back to where I started. There was no change in the room, and it seemed like no one had been here since I left.

I suddenly remembered that it was during this time of the celebration. The king and prince of Gilneth are here, but I didn't even think to follow them down! And they are probably gone now, and they don't know where they are.

In a mess, I lit the candle on the table on a whim. Standing by the window and looking out of the window, the scenes from some time ago appeared in front of my eyes again.

How I wish I could see a figure flash outside the window, or some movement in the house. Even if I kill a few more mutes, I'm not afraid.

I stood by the window for a long time, and when it seemed to be dawning, I blew out the candle on the table. I turned over and walked out of the courtyard, and when I was about to walk into the alley and return to the church, I suddenly felt a chill behind me! I subconsciously slammed my turn. The sword was unsheathed and stabbed backwards.

There is indeed someone behind it! The guy flashed back, but he didn't show his weapon.

The guy reached out and lifted the cloak from his head, revealing his face.

"How are you?" I looked at the face carefully and said in surprise. I recognized him! He's the guy I used to work with in Talenmere. But I can't remember his name for a while.

"It's me." His tone was flat. It seems that he is not happy to see me.

"What do you want to do?" I asked.

"It's just a coincidence that I ran into you." He said it naturally.

"Hah! Is it really such a coincidence? What are you doing here? I asked.

"I said, just passing by."

"Who sent you?"

"I'm just here to help you!"

"I wasn't notified."

"He asked me to come to you."

"What else?" My sword is not in its sheath.

"It's gone." He said.

I concluded he still hadn't said anything, but I didn't want to ask him.

"Help me? Haven't you been here for a long time? Why do you only want to come to me now? ”

"We don't have the same division of labor."

"Helping me is in danger of my life." I say.

"I'll protect myself."

The fact that this guy didn't say a word about Ralph made me even more suspicious.

"How do I contact you?" He said.

"Right here." I say.

"Here?"

"Since you happened to be passing by, this is the place of our fate. We'll meet here later. I paused and said, "You'd better be careful, it's haunted." ”

"Ha, long time no see, your humor hasn't changed at all." His words made me suddenly a little disgusted.

"It's not humor, it's fact. If you're interested, you can go in and check it out. "I turned and left.

"I'll be waiting for you here at dusk today." He said.

I walked away without looking back.

Walking all the way back to church, I didn't remember what that guy's name was. But I clearly remember the success of the Barov plan, and this guy contributed a lot. He seems to be very capable of working, and that letter came from him. He must have known about Ralph, but he didn't say a word about Ralph's disappearance.

I thought I was just silently investigating and understanding something, and being an outsider! But now it seems that I have stepped into the quagmire again.

It was just getting dark, and I arrived at the meeting place as promised. Like last time, he was waiting for me at the entrance of the alley. But this time I wasn't interested in falling from the sky and crushing him to the ground.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"That's what I should ask." I said.

"There's a woman next to Fred."

He looked me in the eye and said, as if he wanted me to give him something to add. I just nodded.

"This woman has been protected. Do you know about her? ”

I pursed my lips and shook my head.

"Fred has a notebook." The words floated softly out of his mouth.

He seemed to be waiting for my answer. I nodded, "Did you get the notebook?" I said.

"Haven't you been in charge of this all along?" He asked rhetorically.

"I haven't been able to handle this matter." When I said this, he stared into my eyes.

"Lone wolf means to keep you going to investigate the matter."

"Lone wolf...... Already in Lordaeron? ”

"He'll be there soon."

"That's the best thing to do, and let him see the mansion he chose. I believe that in the future, he will be able to improve the aesthetics of choosing a house when buying a house. I said.

"He'll be in Lordaeron in two days."

With such a big event as Fred's violent death, it is estimated that the Alterac Palace has already been full of chickens and dogs. And for some speculators, this is definitely an excellent opportunity. What's the use of him not actively operating in the palace and coming here?

But on second thought, could it be for that notebook? My heart twitched at the thought of this. I had a sudden panic that a little secret was about to be revealed.

But at this point, I felt like I couldn't do much. If the guys hadn't found any clues about the notebook on the woman or in the intelligence services, there's a good chance that I'd been under surveillance as the person who had been assigned to get Fred's notebook.

When I got back to church, I couldn't sleep at all while lying on my bed. Uther sat on the edge of the bed and flipped through his book.

I looked at him, then reached out and pulled the key out of my neck. "Hey!" I shouted at him.

"You seem to have been restless lately." He spoke, but he didn't lift his head.

"I feel like something big is going to happen lately." I said.

"Hope you're okay." He still doesn't look up.

"Would you be surprised if you didn't see me one day?"

"You'll be fine."

"I said what if."

"I think so."

"Your answer makes me so sad." I say.

He looked up and looked at me a little confused. "It's not like you're usual."

"Your answer just now isn't like your usual one." I said with a smile.

"Why don't I look like that anymore?" He asked curiously.

"I think if it had been before, you would have been very patient in comforting me, and even said that you would have comforted me with your theory of holy light." I'm saying this like a coquettish little girl.

"I said, I believe you." He smiled at me.

I rolled over and got up and handed the key in front of him. "Take care of it for me." I say it solemnly.

He looked at the key in my hand, looked up at me and reached out to take it.

Two days later, the lone wolf arrived in Lordaeron. He still came alone, still neatly dressed like that.

didn't have much to say hello to him, and the lone wolf went straight to the point. "When was the last time you saw Fred?"

I was thinking about whether to lie to him. "The day after the Lordaeron celebration, I remember."

"What did he do?"

"He's busy every day. It seems that the nobles of Lordaeron have been in contact with each other. Of course, in the process of the celebration, he found a lot of nobles, but some of them were not nobles from the Lordaeron Kingdom, as well as the Gilneth Kingdom and the people of Stormgard. ”

"What about his women?" He said it unhurriedly. "How much do you know about his woman?"

"This woman seems to be a little out of her mind." I'm making this up.

"Where's that notebook?" His tone was somewhat severe.

"I'm sorry, I didn't get it."

"Did you go to the security office in Lordaeron to investigate?"

"Of course I went, but the notebook wasn't there. Now the only clue is in the woman. I said.

"From now on, we're going to do our best to find that notebook. At all costs! I'm going to find that notebook. I don't care what method you use. The lone wolf's eyes were fixed on me, but I could feel it as if there was more suspicion in his gaze.
