Volume I: The End of the World 95

Lying is a human instinct. For those who never lie, or who disdain to lie, I have always thought that they are not only noble people, but also have supreme morality, or rather saints.

But I don't seem to be such a person. I can't figure out how many lies I have to tell in a day, and although I occasionally ask myself not to do this, the reality is that I always unconsciously say something insincere or hypocritical. Perhaps this kind of thing can't be called a lie, and when it is said, especially intentionally or unintentionally, it becomes a habit. I don't know exactly when it will never have to be. Maybe I won't be able to tell the truth until I'm dead and in hell.

The lone wolf's eyes became cold and complicated, but it told me that he wasn't sure if I was lying. Every question he asks will be answered by me perfectly. I vividly remember his answer to this question...... Well, it should be called a lie.

I know very well now, he just wants to put pressure on me with his eyes. It didn't work for me though.

Just as his gentle and serious inquiry could not continue, there was a very urgent footstep from downstairs.

Able ran up from downstairs.

Able looked at me, then stared at the lone wolf. It made me nervous all of a sudden.

"What's wrong?" The lone wolf turned to him and asked.

"Eve...... He's dead. ”

Abel spoke softly, but it was like a thunderclap.

He's dead? How can you die? Miss Eve was staying in a place that might not be able to be attacked with an army, so how could she die? I was amazed in my heart, and so was the look on my face. At this time, both Lone Wolf and Ebol looked at me.

"What do you see me doing?" I was unhappy with the look in their eyes.

"When did she die?" Lone Wolf asked.

"It's the day before yesterday." Abel said.

"What the fuck was three days ago?" The lone wolf roared. He looked at me, then at Abel again.

"Three days ago...... It was three days ago. Abel was clearly a little confused.

Of course I know what it was three days ago. Three days earlier, the day after Alterac's mission had arrived in Lordaeron.

The lone wolf was silent for a long time after growling, and he kept looking at each of us but did not speak.

"What do you think?" The lone wolf asked me suddenly.

I groaned and said, "Could it be the Silent Ones?" ”

"I remember the day Alterac's mission came to Lordaeron, you went to the prison." The lone wolf finally spoke his mind.

"That's right, I went to prison that day." I looked at his face and said calmly. "Any questions?"

"What are you doing there? Why didn't you report these things? His tone suddenly became serious.

"What is it doing with nothing going on?" I asked rhetorically.

"I want to know everything you do." Lone wolf said.

Suddenly, a profanity word appeared in my mouth, but my tongue didn't spit them out. "The whereabouts of that notebook are unknown now, I just wanted to find Eve, and if I could find her whereabouts, a lot of things would be solved."

"What things."

"I'm responsible for the notebook, I just want to get your task done." I try to be as sincere as I can.

"And what did you find when you went to prison?"

"I turned around that place three times, but I felt like I couldn't get in on my own." I looked at the lone wolf, then turned my gaze to Abel. "And even if I go in, I'll come out with a corpse." I added. "So it has to be done by a lot of people."

The lone wolf's brow furrowed at the three guys.

Ebol's expression didn't change when he looked at me, but what the lone wolf and Ebol were thinking, I felt like I could guess eight or nine.

Over the next four days, the lone wolf's attitude towards me seemed to change somewhat. And I'm still trying to show myself, but it's all inconsequential and painless.

That morning, Lone Wolf and I stood on the side of the street and watched as Alterac's mission left Lordaeron with the coffins of two men.

"I wonder what King Pirenod would have thought when he saw the corpse of his son. And his prospective daughter-in-law. I looked at the carriage and muttered to myself.

"You seem to know quite a bit."

"It seems to be in Steinbrad, and some people once talked about them. It was in a tavern, and Fred kicked out all the guests in the tavern for his own convenience. At that time, there was a guy who recognized the woman as a minor nobleman from Alterac. ”

"What else do you know?"

"King Pirenold's wife is Fred's mother, who seems to have died in childbirth after giving birth to him. The king loved his wife very much, and perhaps because of some longing, he treated Fred more than he did with Olydon. "I can't say any more. I still know the proverb that if you say too much, you will lose.

"I heard you mixed well in that church." Once again, the lone wolf's gaze became as gentle as before.

"It's just a matter of chance, there's a nice guy in that place."

"The guy named Uther?"

"Hmm." I don't want to say too much.

"He said you learned the art of Light in that place?" The lone wolf's tone became intriguing.

"It's an expedient measure, after all, I didn't have anywhere to go when I was down."

"He said you were a special person."

"He's always chattering."

"He's the second person to say that about you."

"Who's the first one?"

"Farad"

"Is he still in Ravenhold? I'm missing him a little. ”

"If you get the chance, you'll see him later." There is something in the lone wolf's words.

"I want to go back and see him."

"You can't go back now. You can't go anywhere. He was expressionless.

I looked at him in amazement.

"You're going to stay here." He looked at me. "The third person who said you then is Archbishop Lordaeron."

"Archbishop of Lordaeron?" I looked at him quizzically. It even knew the tall, skinny archbishop of Lundane?

"The archbishop named Fao. You know him. ”

"He's just a bishop."

"Hmph, I'm not wrong, from today onwards he will be the new Archbishop of Lordaeron."

I was speechless in amazement.

"You're going to stay here, stay with him." He stood in front of me, just like the way he had when he first met me.

"I don't think my job is done yet, Gilney's group doesn't have a clue yet, and Ralph is now uncertain! And I don't think I'm any worse than those three people around you! ”

"There's a good chance Ralph is dead." The lone wolf gently patted me on the shoulder. "You don't have to worry about it. And it's up to you to investigate the Silencer. From today onwards, you will remain in Lordaeron as our informant. ”

"But!" His tone suddenly became serious. "Whoever has ever said about you, no matter who has said anything about you, remember who you are and know who you are! I would like to receive information from you in Lordaeron as well. His eyes were calm, but I knew what he meant. Just as he had just known that today was the news of Bishop Fao's promotion to Archbishop of Lordaeron.

When I came to the place again the next day, it was already empty, as if nothing had happened here.

Lone wolf, they're gone!

But I still don't dare to take it lightly when I walk on the street. The most important thing I should do at this time is not to think about anything, not to do anything. It is enough to live as quietly as it has all passed.

I consciously put on the same clothes as Uther and tried them on. When I saw Usr's surprised eyes, I immediately went back to my room and changed my clothes. And no matter how much he persuaded him, how he explained, and how he apologized, I refused to change my clothes back.

Actually, I feel funny to see him, I really can't connect the future him with the current him. I can't imagine what the stern Uther of the future would be like now.

Since then, I've been hanging out in major pubs. Lawrence also returned to Lordaeron. I didn't want to cause trouble with him, although I advised him that it was better to do something law-abiding and be a good citizen. However, this young man does not seem to be a guy who can honestly do business or work hard.

Soon he threw himself into the arms of another gang.

Summer in Lordaeron has arrived. This vibrant city is filled with the smell of hormones. The haze of the plague has vanished without a trace with this hot sun.

This day I tasted wine from my distant homeland, Stormwind Kingdom, in the tavern. A strong sense of homesickness welled up in my heart.

Without hesitation, I bought a large jar of wine and took it back to Lordaeron Cathedral. Archbishop Fao no longer works here, but he preaches here every Saturday.

The church was packed, and the doorway was packed. He is now known as the "Father of Winter", and the children on the street affectionately call him "Grandpa Winter". I don't know if I can see him in this hot summer and feel the coolness of winter.

And indeed he was a very generous man, and he did not hesitate to show his love and his kindness.

However, this old man is so low-key. He sang the praises of the Holy Light all the time, hoping to use the Holy Light to influence and save all beings in this world, but he put the credit on the Holy Light and their great king from the bottom of his heart.

I don't know if this king is that great. However, in the eyes of the many civilians who knelt down beside him, in the eyes of those ordinary people, he was a savior, the spokesperson of the Holy Light in the world, and he was hope. At one point, it even made me feel that his prestige in the hearts of the people was higher than that of their king.

After the sermon ended, the believers of the Light were still in love. If Archbishop Fao hadn't ordered them to go back and live well in the name of the Light, I guess this group would have stayed here forever.

As I pushed away the office where he was resting with this jar of wine. The folds on the face of this lovely old man were all unfolded.

"It seems like I haven't seen you in a long time, kid"

"I haven't had a drink with you in a long time, old man."

"Have you been studying the Light lately?"

"Don't come up, just like parents ask about their children's academic performance, I'm not here to discuss with you how to study today." I shook the jug in my hand.
