Volume 2: The Fall of the Storm 50 The Fall of Soradin
The North County Monastery is about half a day's walk from the town of Shining Gold, but I have no impression of how big North County is. After leaving the town of Shining Gold, all the way to the north, there are large tracts of farmland that can not be seen at a glance, and villages on both sides of the road are one after another.
It seems that this should be the source of soldiers of the Storm Kingdom and the ballast stone of the kingdom's food supply.
Just follow the main road and the signs on the side of the road will lead me to the monastery. Along the way, a stone wall that stretched for miles caught my eye, not high, but showing its sovereignty. And the monastery I'm looking for is inside this wall.
The estate has patches of crops, vineyards. There are also some plants that I can't name. Surrounded by these crops, a cathedral-like building stands out in the depths of the estate.
There were no guards, only groups of peasant women watching me, and a few earth dogs following me. If there was no war, it would have been nice to be a farmer in such a place.
Standing outside the doors of the cathedral, this building is not inferior to the cathedral of Stormwind. Looking at the sun overhead, I should be able to make it to church lunch.
"The gentleman ......," before the monk who stopped me could speak, I showed the king's coat of arms.
"I'll look for your bishop." I say.
"The bishop is dining." He said.
"Then get me a copy too." I said.
The monk's face was full of surprise. "Hurry up, boy, I came to your abbey bishop with the documents of Bishop Fasien of Stormwind City on something important. You can choose to report it first, or you can give me something to eat first. With that, I sat down on a row of chairs in the church.
After a while, he walked briskly and led me to the bishop's room in the backyard of the church.
"Ahh This sir. The bishop in front of him looked a little pleasing to the eye, and when he saw me enter, he hurried to his feet to greet me, and the crumbs on his chin and beard told me that he might not have had a good lunch.
I bowed to him, "I'm Colonel Bill of the Kingdom of Alterac. I introduced.
"Uh......" he froze.
"I'm a reinforcement sent by the Kingdom of Alterac to resist the orcs." I said and showed the king's emblem again.
"Ahh He blinked, the expression on his face clearly not abrupt.
"I have come here to visit your Excellency at the invitation of Bishop Fasien of the Cathedral of the Holy Light of Stormwind." Actually, I really don't know who the gray-haired old man in front of me is.
As I spoke, I took out the scroll I was holding in my armpit and handed it to him.
He took it, opened it, looked at it, and then looked at me suspiciously.
"I'm not just reinforcements from the north, but also a clergyman of the Holy Light Holy See in the Lordaeron Kingdom." I'm talking nonsense. "Now that the war is about to be won, I don't know if adults know about it."
"Ah...... Yes. But...... What exactly are you? He looked at me with a frown.
"We'll be leaving here after the war is over, but before I do, I need to represent the Northern Curia to learn about the Holy Light research in the Stormwind Kingdom."
"Didn't you know about it in Stormwind?"
"This is only a part, and it is only the research records and documents of the Great Monastery of the Holy Light in Stormwind. As the most famous North County Grand Monastery in the kingdom, Bishop Fasien recommended that I come here to find your adult to continue to understand. "I said." After all, the research of the two monasteries is very different. ”
"Oh......" The confusion on the old man's face did not diminish in the slightest. What do you want to know? ”
"Before I came to the Stormwind Kingdom, the current Archbishop Alonthos Fao arranged several things for me." When I mentioned Fao's name, I looked at his face, and the old man had no expression on his face except a slight bewilderment and surprise.
"First of all, the current state of your country's exploration and perception of the path of light. The second is the development of believers in the Holy Light Sect in your country over the years, and the third point is the historical record of the development of the Sect in your country from scratch. I said.
He blinked, then nodded. "I see, Colonel Bill...... Well...... You are ......," he said, holding the scroll up.
"These are the materials that Bishop Fasien of Stormwind City gave me, his personal research materials, and they are also to be brought to Lordaeron to be handed over to Archbishop Fao, and these materials will be kept in the libraries of all the churches in the North, and Bishop Fasien will go down in history." I say. "When the war is over, I will bring back to the north the materials you have put together. The Holy See of the North revealed before my departure that it was considering sending a mission to visit you, and then it would pass on to you the miracles that Archbishop Fao had already understood, and you must already know about the miracles. ”
Hearing this, the expression on the old man's face softened. He nodded, "Got it, then please sit down, I'll prepare the materials for the adults." ”
"No!" I said, "I haven't eaten yet!" ”
What books I want to read and what materials I want to find in this library, the administrator will find them out for me as soon as possible. This group of people who don't have to work have probably memorized the location and general content of the books and documents in this large library. My collection was also carried out very quickly.
The bishop lay on his desk and studied the manuscripts that Fatheon had written, and I told him to refer to his writing. He must have believed what I said.
The documentation here is much clearer than that of Stormwind. First of all, I found a record of miracles in the book, but it didn't mention Lothar's name. I didn't rush to ask, maybe not mentioning it would save me some unnecessary trouble.
As I continued to investigate, one of the records surprised me...... Soladin's Legacy!
This document is based on an epic poem called Francis, but rather a book about Fadil Soladin, the last emperor, but about how the Stormstorm ancestors cultivated and sowed seeds in this strange land, and fought against the troll gnolls kobolds here. The main character of the book is Archbishop Francis McConaughey, and tells the story of how he healed the sick and wounded of his wounded ancestors, and how he spread the word of light to educate the people.
Although there is this time, there is no record of what this Soladin legacy is!
"Is this your miracle?" I pointed to the text in the book and turned my head to ask the administrator next to me. The slightly wooden guy looked at the contents of the book and nodded.
"Legends of miracles you've seen? That's it? "I confirm again.
He didn't squeak.
"What exactly is this Soladin's legacy?" I asked.
"Uh......" he said slowly. It's a book! ”
The young man turned around and found a book with a slightly torn cover from a stack of books, and he carefully opened it, "Look. He pointed to the words on it.
Book! Soladin's legacy, the treasure that helped Francis perform miracles, turned out to be books! And it records not one, but five! They are the Book of Punishment, the Book of Sacredness, the Book of Protection, the Book of Justice, and the Book of Mercy.
Seeing this, my heart was already boiling, the pages of this book had been completely yellowed, but the handwriting on it was still clear. I took the book from him and looked at the cover. Unfortunately, the handwriting on the cover was very blurry, and I carefully discerned the almost faded handwriting...... "The Fall of Soladin"!
Calming my mind, I gently put the book aside and shook my head. "It seems that the Kingdom of Stormwind had the seeds of Light a long, long time ago." I looked up at the young man. "But why hasn't it taken root?"
His eyes were slightly glazed, he seemed to be thinking, and there was no expression on his face. After a moment, he slowly spat out two words. "It's lost."
"Huh?" I feel like I misheard.
"It'...... Lost. He repeated.
"You're wrong."
"It does...... Lost. As he spoke, he walked to the sea of books behind him, and there was no movement.
What a strange guy, I thought to myself. But it's also thanks to this guy. Seeing that there was no one around, I picked up this copy of "The Fall of Soladin" again.
The book is shabby, but it's not broken. The cover is already a little weathered, and the handwriting on it is not clear. I suddenly remembered Fatheon's desire to say something and not to be vague......
The sentences in this book are very long-winded, more about the useless environment, and even the dialogue is so boring and unnutritious. After turning a dozen pages, the only thing I could tell was that Fadil Soladin was very embarrassed when he landed his fleet in the West Elwyn Forest, and even more so with the word "escape".
This is inconsistent with my impression that the word "escape" is inconsistent with Fadil leading the people to migrate. How can it be to escape, to escape, to dodge? I stared at the sky and saw that there was no reason to escape.
But yes, how can immigrants not be embarrassed. I pouted at the thought of this.
Continuing to scroll down, some of the content that follows overlaps with the story in "Francis".
Fadil then gave his heirloom, one of the books in the series, to the person he trusted most...... Francis. What surprised me even more was that this set of books turned out to be one of the magic weapons of Soladin the Great to defeat the trolls back then, and it contained great energy.
It's no wonder that Francis was able to perform miracles with the help of it! And the book in Francis's hand happens to be called "The Holy Book".
Flipping back quickly, not to mention a glance or ten lines, my eyes searched hard for all the sensitive words. But the more I flipped back, the slower and slower I flipped through, and finally I wanted to copy them all, and the contents gave chills down my spine.
Lothar is not a direct descendant of Soradin at all!
