Red Pupil Section 40 Sweeping the tail

In the dead of night, the library is silent, the shadows of the bookshelves cast onto the stone walls, swaying back and forth with the candles. I picked up the dark magic book and decided that they would never speak again.

Only the dead do not divulge secrets.

Elvis and Zeny lay quietly on the cold floor of the parchment library, like two lifeless corpses. I took a deep breath and calmed myself down. There is no doubt that if there is a disappearance at Bromin College, I must be the biggest suspect. The key to clearing suspicion lies in two things: proper disposal of the body and finding a scapegoat.

The first is to fake the deaths of Elvis and Zeny so that no one can suspect me, and secondly, to throw the body at the right time and point the suspicion of the murderer at a dead man who will never be found, Fresen Bukalem.

Only by muddying the waters will I be able to stay at Bromin College and study the dark arts in secret - in my mind, black magic is not synonymous with evil, slaughtering enemies is justice, and slaughtering women and children is evil.

Since the Book of Dark Magic has been so tightly hidden by the High Priest of Gufrein, its value must be worth the risk to me.

Clearing my mind, I no longer hesitated, pulled out a parchment book from the bottom corner of the shelf, tore off a few pieces of parchment, moistened it with the tea on the table, and covered Elvis and Zeney's mouths and noses.

Zeni groaned, showing signs of awakening, and I punched him again in the back of the head.

Ten minutes later, it was all over.

I took their hands, scratched at my chest so hard that my fingernails were filled with shards of clothes and flesh, faking the symptoms of suffocation, and then carefully sent the bodies into the chamber in a position of agony and struggle.

Before leaving the chamber, I kept an eye out for the magic charms inscribed on the altar, they were too esoteric for me to be of any value. I suspect that these charms are not meant to deter thieves, but are likely to do what Zeni says, preventing insects and ants from biting the magic book.

The finishing touches are far more arduous than you think. I patiently filled the granite back into the stone wall piece by piece, trying not to leave any traces of prying, and the peeling stone chips were swept away and wrapped in parchment to take away.

It took more than an hour for the stone wall to regain its original shape.

When I tore off the blindfolded glutinous rice paper, I deliberately left a few fragments as a clue for latecomers to open the secret room.

The magic once again penetrated the Eye of the Array, the "Cayhilla's Guardian" was restored to its entirety, and the Parchment Library became part of the Magic Array.

Leaving the temple library with the book of black magic in my arms, the mist was thick and wet my hair and clothes, and I reached the kitchen from memory in the darkness, covering April's mouth and shaking him carefully.

April's heart was beating hard, and he thought he had revealed his identity.

When he was fully conscious, I lowered my voice and told him to spread the rumors that Zeny and Fresen had been devoured by the library, and if anyone asked, be sure to mention the black scabbard around Fresen's waist.

That's a clue I left on purpose.

Aprile stared at me in a daze, not knowing what was going on, but as Carben's loyal down-line spy, he would carry out his orders to the letter, taking my elaborate lies to heart, as if he had experienced it himself.

Aprill is my biggest weakness, he knows too much, but in the current situation, I have to enlist his help.

When I got back to my dormitory, I lit the candle and flipped through the dark magic book in my hand, the first page of which was the legendary "Red Pupil Technique".
