Chapter 49: The Poison Scheme
In complete contrast to the previous months, the royalists are now receiving good news and momentum. The rebels, on the other hand, were demoralized and wailing.
In Randall, the nobles were sitting together, their brows full of anxiety, discussing their future plan of action.
Of course, rather than hoping for any substantive result through deliberation, they were more willing to criticize Duke Arman, who had lost Iron Wing.
"Shut up!"
This unnourishing argument continued until Jermaine couldn't take it anymore and slammed his fist on the arm of his chair.
"I don't want to hear any more criticism about Ironwing. Listen, Duke Arman is not wrong, and if the enemy had shown such a miracle, I don't think any of you present would have been able to avoid this tragedy. β
Germain said categorically, which made Arman look at him with gratitude.
"Your Majesty, don't you think that what Lord Arman is saying is really incredible, a blue barrier that is completely impenetrable, and it seems to me that this is just an excuse for the Duke to shirk his responsibility. β
One nobleman retorted.
"Anyone who loses on the battlefield will choose to find excuses, and we can find a hundred ways to pass the buck, but trust me, the blue invincibility barrier must be the worst of them all. If you want me to say, either the guy who said this kind of thing is a fool, or that's the truth. β
Germain shook his head.
"I don't think the Duke is stupid, and I'm sure you don't think so, so unfortunately we shouldn't think about how to blame each other here. It's about how to fight this unknown force. β
Germain's words silenced everyone, and no one would question the Duke's IQ. It would be an insult, and it would have led to a duel notice from Randall's strongest warrior.
"But that's it. We will have no chance of winning. The enemy has a colossus, teleportation magic, and that eerie blue barrier, and our warriors can't fight this kind of war that doesn't play by the cards at all. β
A nobleman stood up, his face covered with gloom, as if he had seen the destruction of the royal city not long after.
"Calm down, gentlemen. Take it easy, this war is not as desperate as you think. β
Germain clapped his hands. Signal the crowd not to be too busy and depressed.
"Let's explain it bit by bit. First of all, the Colossus, if I'm not mistaken, the behemoth is no longer usable. β
Germain's words stirred up a thousand waves, and everyone immediately talked about it.
"Yes, I think so. β
Duke Arman nodded.
"Gentlemen, think carefully - if the Colossus could be used, why didn't they use it in the assault on Ironwing?
Of course, I have prepared a large number of siege weapons, and intend to annihilate them with the power of Catravad. I must admit it, though. I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to beat that big guy.
In the end, however, the Colossus did not appear. If you want me to say, it's not that the other party doesn't want to use it, but that they can't use it. β
The Duke summed it up.
"As far as I know, the Colossus has a big drawback to this alchemical weapon. That is, the magic of the hearth needs to be consumed every time you use it. β
Germain learns about the Colossus's weakness from Finn. Of course, now as a member of the Holy Sect Nation, it is not easy for him to openly announce that he has an alchemy master in his hands.
And the thing which can be the heart of the Colossus hearth. Even in the entire kingdom there are few. Thinking about the frequency of their use of the Colossus during this time, the magic of the hearth dries up. The judgment that it is not possible to proceed should be fine. β
A reasonable idea, and most of the nobles accepted Germain's explanation. One of the shadows that had been haunting them for days finally dissipated, and some could not help but breathe a sigh of relief.
"Then there's teleportation magic, which goes without saying, although there is no good means of countering it at the moment, but it is quite powerless magic in the face of siege warfare. I'm sure none of you here would be foolish enough to let an enemy plant a teleportation crystal in their castle.
And there's a one-and-done solution here. β
Germain said.
"What's the solution?"
Duke Arman asked.
"It's going to be with your opponent's third card - the blue barrier. According to the information we have obtained, both the teleportation magic and the blue barrier were brought by Leah Farain, the last daughter of Brown Farain.
Then the question is simple......"
"Assassination?"
Some of the nobles present understood what Germain meant.
"It's a real way to do it, but I have to say, it's inefficient. β
Germain shook his head.
"Now that the opponent's cards have been played, it's our turn to fight back. Go negotiate with the Loyalists and get them to hand over Leah Farainn directly to us. β
Germain's words caused another riot in the venue. Because it sounds ridiculous, Leah Faren, the girl who can awaken the blue miracle, the archmage who uses teleportation magic, and the princess will only send such a figure to their disposal if she burns her brain.
"Germain, you want to!?"
At this moment, Bishop Albin, who had not spoken, but was quietly present in front of an audience, frowned, and his voice was full of warning, and it was evident that the other party's thoughts did not satisfy him.
"Yes, my dear father, and all of you, do not forget, although they call themselves royalists, where is their king!? Yes, we are in our hands!!
Let's bet the king and queen for the life of Leah Faren. If they did not agree, Cliff Randall VI and his princess were to be beheaded. β
Germain said cruelly.
"But what's the point? The princess is not a child of a family, she is born into the blood of the royal family, and when the king dies, she can justifiably become the new queen. β
One of the nobles shook his head, thinking that Germain's idea was too naΓ―ve.
"No, wait, first of all I think the king has a great influence on the princess, she is the only daughter of the king, and we all know how much Cliff loves his own pearl, maybe - this is really a good move. If you want me to say, it's good to bet, even if the princess doesn't care about the king's life or death, we have nothing to lose, right?"
Another nobleman retorted.
"It makes sense, and if they refuse to redeem the king, then the so-called royalists will become a joke, and we can make a big fuss about it and destroy their morale in one fell swoop. β
"Yes, yes, if the princess renounces the king, it will be tantamount to indirect patricide, and even if she ascends the throne after that, it will leave an indelible stain on her throne. β
"Haha, what's even better is that this will completely divide the relationship between Fareen and Randall's royal family, as far as I know, the old Duke Brown is very spoiled by his third daughter, maybe without us doing anything, Farain will break with the princess. β
"That's right, once there is civil strife among the royalists, we are no different from winning. β
The nobles praised the vicious scheme. Germain, on the other hand, sat on the throne and watched with satisfaction the every move of the nobles below.
β......β
Duke Arman did not speak, although as a knight he despised such means. However, now, this man has become an executioner who can swing a sword at anyone for the sake of the family, without blood or tears.
β......β
Also unspeakable was Bishop Albin. He looked at Germain quietly, and Germain looked at him quietly, he never imagined that his son could become so vicious. Even so, however, he acquiesced to Germain's approach, and the old man turned his head and retreated in this battle of sight and sight.
In order to unite all of humanity with the smallest possible sacrifice and thus concentrate on dealing with the coming evil gods, Leah Fareen will be the biggest obstacle to this purpose.
Bishop Albin knew that as long as Leah was there, the war would be in the same stalemate as before.
For the great cause of all mankind, he did not hesitate to dye his noble heart black and black. (To be continued......)
