Chapter Eighty-Four: New Prey
Petro nodded in satisfaction, and after holding hands with his wife Darcia, he was confronted by a noisy crowd holding signs.
"Cheap hostels, the cheapest hostels in all of Tingen."
"Sir, ma'am, do you need a tour guide in the university town? I am a native of Tingen. ”
"Sir, the journey is so lonely, do you want to relax at night?"
A crowd of people of all ages, genders, and dresses flocked to the city, and the only thing they had in common was that they all had overly enthusiastic smiles on their faces, holding signs and waving frantically to the tourists who had just landed.
Darcia obviously didn't like such a scene, she gently tugged Petro to signal to leave here quickly, and the middle-aged manservant with a serious face covered the two masters with his body, quickly avoiding the crowd.
There were still a few local guides holding signs at the back of the crowd, but most of them were elderly people and children, and they couldn't squeeze to the front and could only look at the back to see if there were any "fish that slipped through the net".
Rejecting one self-proclaimed guide after another, Petro walked briskly with his wife and servants.
Suddenly, a young guide stopped their progress by bowing slightly, this guide was not disheveled and sweaty like the previous ones, but he was very well-dressed, his demeanor was quite polite, and his body exuded a refreshing smell.
The only thing that is a little incongruous is that he has a long beard that covers the area below the nose, an image rarely seen in young men.
Despite some doubts about the other party's aesthetic of beards, the young guide immediately won Petro's favor, a sense of identity from class.
Maybe this is a gentleman from a middle-of-the-road family, Petro thought to himself.
Out of sight of the newlyweds, the young guide quietly hid the silver bracelet on his wrist.
The bracelet was inlaid with a crimson eye in the center, with a carved word on each side, which was slowly dissipating at the moment: "Hunter" and "Warrior".
The young guide's gray eyes flashed with a hint of joy, and he asked in a polite but enthusiastic tone, "Do you two need a place to stay?" I have several single-family homes for short-term rentals, suitable for couples like you. ”
After a pause, he said with a smile on his face: "These houses are far from the downtown area, the surrounding environment is beautiful, and some of them have manors for hunting and private carriages that can be rented for a short time, so they are the first choice for many decent tourists to Tingen, where did you come from?" ”
Petro bowed slightly and replied politely, "We just returned from an overseas trip." ”
Then he turned to his wife and asked, "What do you think?" My dear? ”
Darcia seemed interested in the manor where she could hunt, and she nodded in agreement, "There's nothing to lose by looking at it anyway." ”
Petro was convinced.
Daouria, who was transformed into a young guide, eagerly and unobtrusively, helped the two to the carriage, and after two steps into the driving seat, he reached out to help the middle-aged manservant and maid get to the front of the carriage.
After smiling slightly at the stern-faced manservant, he reached out and lowered the brim of his hat, whipping his horsewhip and driving the carriage all the way northeast.
The carriage soon left the city and came to a small estate near the university town.
"This is the Margaux estate, five minutes west of the Tasok River, and further east is the university district, and it's quiet during the summer holidays." Daouria leads the way as he introduces his surroundings.
"It's a nice environment." Petro looked around at his surroundings and nodded slightly.
Darcia frowned and said, "It's just that there are not enough people, how long are we going to stay here?" If it takes a long time, you may need to hire some servants. ”
"It won't be long, I'm coming back this time mainly to see my mentor, and one of my distant relatives, and to show you the city I stayed in when I was in college."
"Okay." Darcia bowed her head lightly and continued, "Then hire at least a few maids. ”
"I can help with that." Daouria interjected at the right time, a sincere smile on his face.
After looking at the inside and outside of the house, including the small hunting grounds, Petro nodded and said, "It's good here, just here, I don't know what the rent is?" ”
"£2 a day, plus my agency fee is 5%." Daouria took off his hat and stroked his chest and saluted.
"It's a fair price." Petro lifted his chin slightly, and continued: "You can discuss these matters with my male servant Somar. ”
As he spoke, he let go of his wife's arm, looked at the house with interest, and said, "This house is some years old, isn't it?" ”
The corners of Dauria's mouth hooked slightly: "Yes, this house is very old, and the original construction dates back to the Quaternary period. ”
"Oh? Dating back to the Quaternary? Petro was suddenly interested.
Darcia glanced at her husband helplessly, Petro had always been fascinated by history, he had studied history in college, and had dreamed of becoming an archaeologist, but unfortunately, his wealthy family did not allow him to pursue his dream, and finally had to return home to inherit the family business.
She shook her head slightly, lifted her skirt and walked up to the second floor quickly, wanting to see the bedroom again.
"Yes, this house originally belonged to the Andraillard family, do you know anything about this family?" Daouria asked with a smile.
Petro had a blank look on his face.
"It's not strange, it's just a small family that is not famous, and it's normal that you don't know about it." Daouria shook his head lightly and continued:
"The current owner of this house is in Tingen, but he has a lot of real estate in his name and is willing to rent some of it to tourists like you, in order to better show the visiting gentlemen and ladies the friendliness of the city of Tingen."
Petro nodded again and again, and said softly in approval: "This is a real gentleman, are you familiar with the owner of the house?" Maybe I can visit him if I have a chance? ”
The smile on Daouri's face was even more enthusiastic, and he nodded affirmatively: "Yes, there will be a chance." ”
Perceiving that Petro seemed to be interested in history, Dauria took Petro to the door of the storage room.
"You seem to be interested in history?" Daouria smiled.
"Yes." Petro nodded.
Daouria took out the key and unscrewed the door of the storage room, and the smile on his face was even better, "The owner of this house is too, he has a lot of antiques, you can visit it."
"The owner left antiques to rent in the house? Isn't he afraid of being stolen? Petro asked in disbelief.
"This room has always been locked, and I usually don't tell the tenants what is in it, and I also took you to visit it, and I will lock it after reading it." Daouria explained with an unchanged smile.
"That's a little too risky." Petro said with a frown.
Daouria smiled and said, "Indeed, but I'm sure a gentleman like you wouldn't do such a self-defeating thing as stealing, would he?" ”
"Of course." Petro nodded reservedly, feeling the usefulness of Dauria's words, and continued to ask: "It seems that the master of this house can hand over such an important key to you, it seems that you know him well?" ”
Daouria chuckled and said, "It's very familiar, kinship." ”
As he spoke, he pushed open the door of the pantry and made a gesture of please.
