Chapter Twenty-Six: The Dragon's Egg
CHAPTER XXVI
The Weasley brothers sneered and quickly returned to the break room.
Harry suspected that the secret passage might have a few more years to liveβif the two of them could walk apart in peace.
Ron crouched in the doorway, waiting.
"Harry, did you buy anything?" When he saw a few people coming in, he couldn't wait to ask.
Harry grimaced, handing over a large bag of candy, "Well, here." β
Ron reached out and took it blankly.
No...
That's not what I'm talking about.
George teased, "Our little Ronnie is still a little baby who loves desserts. β
"Dumbledore also likes sugar." Ron didn't deny it, and casually grabbed someone to block the gun for himself.
Fred shook his head, "But he's Dumbledore." β
George chimed in: "And you're just a little Ronnie at the level of a Flober caterpillar." β
Ron shook his hand and strode over to Harry, "Harry, I mean, our ......"
Harry took off his hat and placed it on a chair by the fireplace, "You wait a minute, I have something to ask about it." β
"Thanks, it's cold outside." The Sorting Hat shuddered, "It's much more comfortable that way." β
Harry moved a chair over and sat down, "I found a problem today. β
The Sorting Hat glanced at him, waiting for a question, the tip of the hat drooping down and roasting comfortably on the fire.
"The person whose hands I cut off has the effect of the last sword oil on the wound." Harry said, "It's just that he's human, and sword oil doesn't work on him." β
"I remember the sword oil was wiped clean."
The Sorting Hat slouched: "It can absorb some of the magic effects carried in the liquid and blood. β
"Take your sword oil, for example."
"You didn't tell me." Harry pulled out his hat and pulled out another bottle of ogre oilβit had been re-boiled by him, and now it felt like a loss.
The Sorting Hat was confident: "You didn't ask. β
"How long?" Harry asked earnestly.
The Sorting Hat thought for a moment, "Ten, maybe twenty, it's been a long time since I've seen it work. β
"When Dumbledore pulled out this sword, he was in his sixties and had never used it."
"Is there anything else?" Harry asked again.
The Sorting Hat triumphant: "Of course, it can slash through water and fire, and it's immune to some spells, after all, Gryffindor has fought wizards with this sword." β
Harry was amazed that the best weapon he had ever used could only amplify the effect of the Alpha Sealβa gift from Lambert.
The most satisfying effect for him is undoubtedly the ability to absorb sword oil.
Save money.
How long can you get Hagrid's wool by yourself? Up to seven years......
Harry got up and patted Ron on the shoulder, "Let's go, let's go out." β
"Where to go? Hogsmeade? Ron was a little excited.
Harry glanced at him, "Go find Hagrid, I didn't buy what I wanted." β
"Didn't Hogsmeade either?" Ron followed behind Harry, "Why don't you send a letter for Hermione to try?" β
"Hermione has no money." Harry shook his head.
Ron was stunned: "I think she's quite rich and has bought so many books." β
"She came from an ordinary family." Harry climbed out of the lounge, "There's a limited amount of gold galleons that can be exchanged each year. β
"And it's too young, it's contraband, and we're going to Hogsmeade and we're going to run into liars."
Ron was curious: "Liar? β
Harry spoke slowly, waiting until Hagrid's hut door before he was almost finished under Ron's questioning.
"That's nice." Ron's eyes were full of envy.
A simple little wizard who went out to play, met a ruthless and vicious dark wizard, and finally successfully defeated the dark wizard with the wisdom of the little wizard.
What a fairytale experience.
Those two hateful brothers, why don't you bring yourself on, or you'll be Harry's thigh pendant now... Oh no, one of the valiant little wizards.
Harry knocked on the door, and Tooth pounced first, and when he saw who it was, he immediately grabbed his tail, whimpered, and hid back in the house.
"Harry? Why are you here..."Hagrid was a little surprised, "Oh, it's not that you weren't welcome, I just didn't expect it. β
"Merry Christmas." Harry congratulated, didn't say much, and got straight to the point, "I have something I want your help with." β
Hagrid welcomed them in: "What's the matter?" β
"I need bicornus horn powder and African tree snake skin, do you have one?" Harry asked.
Hagrid shook his head: "Why do you want these things, but they are all contraband." β
Harry didn't hide it, he was very sincere: "The first level of the Gryffindor Trials requires this thing. β
"The trials of Gryffindor?" Hagrid's eyes widened, "Oh yes, you drew the Gryffindor Sword when you entered school, and I don't have any of these in my hand right now. β
Ron was disappointed.
"But I'm going to Diagon Alley tomorrow to buy some potions to get rid of foxes." Hagrid reflated, "I can go and show you, you know, there are always wizards who do these things." β
Harry pulled the money out of his pocket, twenty Galleons, and placed it on the table, "Thank you, Hagrid. β
"No, no money." Hagrid blushed and waved his hands.
Harry shook his head, "It's not for you, it's for those who sell these things." β
The friendship of friends should not be mixed with money, even if the relationship between the wolf faction is good, the entrusted matter is clearly calculated - rubbing alcohol does not count, this is another matter.
Hagrid nodded reluctantly, raised his hand and slapped his chest with a bang: "Okay, don't worry, I will definitely help you take it at the fairest price." β
Chatted with Hagrid for a while.
Harry and Ron leave, politely rejecting Hagrid's bag of rock skins, which the witchers are helpless to eat.
Until the Christmas holidays are almost over.
Hagrid's owl passed the book to Harry.
"Got something?" Harry hurried through the door and asked.
Hagrid hesitated, pointing to the table, where there was a wooden box, eighteen gold gallons, and a pile of silver sico: "I only bought the skin of the African tree snake, and there was no powder for the horn of the two-horned." β
Harry picked up the box and opened it, and saw that the black snakeskin was very fresh, and it had been less than a month since it was removed.
"Thanks, Hagrid." Harry looked serious, "Half of my troubles have been solved. β
Hagrid pushed the money to Harry, "I have an idea for the powder of the two-horned horns, there are some in the Forbidden Forest, but they are a little naughty. β
"And it's snowing a lot right now, so it's probably not easy to find them, so I'll need a little time."
Harry smiled slightly, "Don't worry, I'm only in the first grade, and I still have six and a half years to go." β
Hagrid was stunned: "Harry, you should smile more, you really laugh like your mother." β
The Christmas holidays are coming to an end soon.
One of the things Hermione did when she returned to Hogwarts was to find Harry, who was inexplicably sad when she learned that Harry had already obtained the recipe for the Polyjuice Potion and was only missing the last "Twohorn Powder".
"How long will Hagrid get it?" Hermione held the book and read the information of the two-horned beast, "This is a dangerous creature of four 'X' classes. β
"I remember if he wasn't a proper wizard?"
"Don't worry, Hagrid can handle it." Harry waved his hand, "He's strong, at least the troll I dealt with wasn't his match." β
Hermione was still frowning, "Why don't we go to Snape's pantry and steal?" β
"I said, it's the most convenient." Seeing that someone was making the same opinion as himself, Ron pinched his waist.
Harry shook his head, "That's the last option. β
Hagrid's efficiency this time around was much slower than Harry had expected.
By February.
He hasn't been heard from yet.
Harry couldn't wait, and he was going to ask for it himself.
As soon as Friday's class was over and after lunch, they hurried to Hagrid's hut.
Almost in front of the house, Harry stopped and frowned.
"What's wrong?" Hermione asked.
Harry pulled out his wand: "Something isn't quite right. β
The weather was warmer, but the house was deep, the curtains were closed, and the temperature of the room was frighteningly high.
Hermione and Ron didn't dare to speak, held their breath, and followed Harry slowly to the door.
Knock Knock β
Harry slammed on the door, "Hagrid, are you at home?" β
A muffled voice came from the room in response: "Who? β
It was Hagrid's voice, and it was healthy, which made Harry breathe a sigh of relief, "It's me, Harry. β
"Wait a minute." Hagrid's response suddenly became panicked, and it took a few moments before he opened the door and let them in.
It's hotter inside, and the fire in the fireplace is brighter than in winter.
"Harry, you'll have to wait a little longer." Hagrid muttered, "I haven't been ...... in this time"
Harry ignored him and walked straight to the fireplace, pausing, "There's an egg in the fireplace, Hagrid, is this your lunch?" That's pretty crude. β
"Oh... This, well... The eggs of a very cute creature. Hai Qi urged, and said in a bit of a panic, "I'm trying to hatch it." β
"It's a dragon egg?" Hermione said coldly, "I've read in books that only some types of dragon eggs need to hatch like this. β
Ron raised his voice and exclaimed, "Dragon eggs? β
"Hagrid, it's illegal to raise a dragon! As early as the Great Council of Wizards in 1709, it was forbidden for individuals to keep fire dragons. β
Hermione gave Ron a surprised look - she didn't know that Ron, who had only slept heavily in history of magic class, was talking like that.
"My brother Charlie, who raises dragons in Romania." Ron scratched his face.
Harry felt the majestic breath of life and magic on the dragon egg, a very high-quality material.
"Where did you get that? When you helped me buy African tree snake skin? Harry resisted the urge to reach out and asked.
Hagrid pulled his beard: "No, I was drinking in Hogsmeade the other night, and by the way, I wanted to ask you if anyone has the powder of the bicorn's horn in their hands." β
"A stranger came to me and played with me, and after a few rounds he took out a dragon egg as a bet - honestly, the man was desperate to get rid of it."
Harry stood up and raised an eyebrow, "Bet on dragon eggs?" Is there anyone else but you? β
Hagrid shook his head: "No, it's just the two of us, the dragon egg is too eye-catching." β
"Tell me more about that night." Harry walked back to Hagrid and sat down.
