Chapter 228: The Moon
Making something out of nothing, trying to develop a new potion is a very challenging thing.
Not to mention, there are almost no potions to refer to.
Wolf poison is a solution to brain problems and has nothing to do with wolfism.
This is also very different from Harry and Snape's research on the witcher's potions - the witcher's potions are a headache, but at least Harry is familiar with them, and knows what their effects and properties are.
But. The potion that lifted the curse of the werewolf, Harry had only heard of it, and knew that the most crucial ingredient was "virgin tears", which was not uncommon, and it was good to make Hermione cry a few times.
Other than that, nothing is known.
This was a headache for Harry and Snape.
Dear Dean Slytherin, more than once he scolded Harry in his letters for not being infected by Sirius, and suddenly doing this kind of thing.
Although he is honest and honest, every time he scolds, he will give his own ideas.
July is coming.
Sirius didn't go out much to race, only occasionally playing games with Dudley, and spent the rest of the time huddled in the living room, asking Penny for advice and knitting clothes.
Parsley is common.
However, it is very difficult to weave them into shirts, and there is a limit to the number of them, so you can only use five pieces.
Sirius was in a hurry.
The Dursleys had been eating parsley for seven days in a row, and Dudley and Fennon had the color of parsley on their faces, especially Dudley, who could barely stand the creature.
There is a weight loss potion here, why eat grass!
July 10th.
Lupin moved out, and instead of going to Potter's house, they moved to a deserted open space, pitched their tents, and Harry had to go back to sleep every day.
On the day of the full moon.
Lupin drank the last vial of wolf poison: "Harry, your potion is much better than Snape's. β
"He didn't poison you, so he was already very restrained." Harry took the flask back from his hand, cleaned it up, and stuffed it back into his pocket, "But. You've only drunk the potions that Professor Snape and I boiled? β
Lupin was stunned, realized something, and turned his head aside: "The weather tonight is really good. β
Sirius vaguely sensed that something was wrong, but for a moment he couldn't catch it, frowning, thinking.
"George and Fred should pay you a lot of money every month, can't they even afford wolf poison potion?" Harry frowned similarly, his tone suppressed.
Lupin sighed, "The Weasley brothers pay me a lot of wages every month, thirty-fifteen Galleons a week!" β
"Their net profit in a month is only more than 500 Galleons."
Harry's brow furrowed.
Thirty-five a week is not a low salary, and ordinary Hogwarts professors, such as Hagrid and Trelawney, are only paid forty Galleons a week.
And Ron mentioned that his brother Bill, the one who worked as a spell solver in Gringotts in Egypt, was even paid only twenty-five a week.
Lupin is already considered a high-income group in the wizarding world.
"But I still can't afford to buy a wolf poison potion." Lupin rubbed his face, "A bottle of wolf poison potion, although the price is only twenty Galleons, but there is also the cost of asking a potions master to boil it and the cost of the loss of medicinal materials."
He folded his fingers and counted: "A bottle of potion, if you really want to buy it, it will cost at least thirty Galleons." β
As he spoke, he paused: "And if you want the wolf poison potion to take effect, you need to take it for a whole week, seven days, one bottle a day before the full moon." β
It costs more than two hundred Galleons a month.
Even if he has a high salary now, the money he can earn still can't afford the cost of the potion.
"Awesome." Harry applauded him, "Have you become a werewolf a lot, and your brain has also become?"
Halfway through the curse, he thought that his Animagus was a wolf, paused slightly, and said, "The brain has become as small as a troll?" β
"I'm such a big living person, and I'm still your boss's classmate, and I call you uncle, and I write to you at least once a week, and you haven't even mentioned it to me at all."
Sirius gritted his teeth and hated that iron could not be made of steel: "Remus, it's only more than three hundred a month"
"Two hundred and ten Galleons." Harry corrects his mistakes.
Sirius paused: "It's only more than two hundred, and I can't afford it, my uncle's savings should be enough for you to drink wolf poison potion for a lifetime." β
"Even if my uncle doesn't have enough, and Blake's, you know, we Blake are the least short of money."
Lupin opened his mouth and was about to speak.
Harry then spoke: "You have also seen the process of boiling the wolf poison potion in the past few days, it is not troublesome, it is very simple. β
"I have to boil potions every day to practice, and other potions are no different from wolf poison potions."
Lupin nodded and sighed, "Well, I'll talk to you next month." β
"That is, I don't want to take care of it." Sirius shook his head and triumphant, "Otherwise, with the people I know now, I would have no problem being the largest herb supplier in Great Britain." β
"Remus, there will be no shortage of potion materials in our house."
Harry looked over and looked at the sky, "Let's go, the moon is out." β
As they stepped out of their tents, Sirius carefully holding his garment made of five parsley leaves, which swelled and grew when the werewolf was deformed, and his robes would break, not to mention that.
The breeze pushed through the clouds, and the full moon was revealed, and the silver light sprinkled down and covered with a layer of hoarfrost.
The night was beautiful.
Lupin was in a bad mood.
The more beautiful the moon, the more affected it will be.
Harry and Sirius immediately turned back into Animagus, and Lupin's body froze, his head elongated, his wolf beak and pointed ears, his body also expanded, his hands and feet stretched narrow, and his sharp claws popped out along with his gray fur.
The Wolf Poison flask takes effect.
Lupin restrained the conflict of looking up to the sky, shook his body, sat down helplessly, and opened his mouth to speak hoarsely, roughly: "Hey, Harry, this is the first time you've seen me like this." β
"Werewolves are ugly."
Harry turned back into his human form, leaned over, and reached out to touch: "Tsk, the fur is short and hard, and the color is not good-looking. β
Lupin was stunned, is this the focus?
Sirius also reverted back to human form.
The two of them, carefully helping Lupin put on the parsley shirt.
"Don't you think werewolves are ugly?" Lupin sat tense, not daring to move, for fear of tearing his shirt by accident.
"Except for the color of the coat, it's all fine." Harry commented, "It would be nice if it was white." β
"Or pure black." Sirius added his opinion, "White is not white, black is not black, the gray color looks stuffy." β
"That's right." Harry agreed.
Lupin couldn't cry or laugh, and his heart warmed slightly.
He looked up at the moon.
It was no longer as hideous as it used to be, no longer out of reach, as if it were all around himβhe suddenly understood why so many poets loved the moon.
Now, he's a little bit of a liking too.
Harry and Sirius didn't sing the same arias Lupin, they were busy making a fire - Sirius didn't want to use a spell and was going to try drilling wood for fire.
Sawdust, hay, a drill made of magic.
Sirius had a good idea.
But after half an hour of busy work, there was only some smoke and dust, and no sparks could be seen.
He finally gave up on the idea, gave up on himself, and a bonfire raged.
"Uncle Remus, do you want to eat cooked or raw food now?" Harry asked, pulling the ingredients out of his pocket.
"Delicatessen." Lupin replied succinctly.
The lamb and the beef, and some vegetables and fruits, were roasted on the flames, and Sirius sang songs that they had learned in Hogwarts, much better than the Yard Hat.
Harry watched Lupin intently.
Parsley leaves blend with the moonlight, but nothing magical.
They ate and drank, and the Sorting Hat greeted them with Godric and Fawkes, until the wee hours of the morning, when the moon was about to set, and Lupin quietly changed.
His mouth and ears were shrinking, his body was shrinking, his teeth and claws were shortening and he was becoming more like a normal person.
Not for a while.
All that was left was Lupin, naked, dressed in a parsley dress, sitting on the ground in a daze.
"It worked!" Sirius jumped to his feet, looking excited, dancing with his hands.
Harry didn't speak, and raised his wand.
Lupin immediately held out his hand.
Harry took a little of his blood, and put it together with the potion that had been prepared on the side, the werewolf's blood was very different from the blood of a normal person.
"How?" Sirius couldn't wait to ask.
Lupin also had some anticipation in his eyes.
Harry shook his head, "It's not cured. β
The two of them were stunned.
"But it can't be said that it doesn't work." With a flick of his wand, Harry undressed Lupin.
The moonlight shines.
Lupin's face and body immediately elongated again, turning back into a werewolf.
Sirius looked at this scene dumbfounded, his brain was down, and he couldn't quite understand it.
"When the power of the moon phase decays to a certain extent, parsley can produce a certain inhibitory effect." Harry took out his quill and parchment and summed it up, "But the force of the inhibition is weak. β
"Now it is"
He raised his wrist and glanced at the time: "It's four fifty-two, and the sun has less than half an hour to go." β
"If you don't take off your clothes, it's just for Remus to become a human half an hour earlier?" Sirius kicked a stone and pouted.
Harry nodded, "To be exact, I'm afraid it's only ten minutes or fifteen minutes early, but that's good news." β
"There are things that can suppress wolfosis, we just need to study and understand why parsley works, and if we understand the medicinal properties, we may be able to develop a cure for wolfosis."
Harry had long been prepared for nothing.
The forces of the two worlds are not interconnected, and this method can have even a small effect, which is an unexpected surprise.
When the last letter falls on the parchment.
Harry whistled.
Reluctantly flying in the distance, Hedwig grabbed the parchment from Harry's hand and flew off into the distance to send the letter to Snape.
