Chapter 32: The Centaur Council

Kano entered the door and saw an old centaur with a silver mane and brown eyes.

He had an old countenance, but deep eyes, and wore a simple linen robe with a few blue stripes dyed with unknown plants.

"Welcome, Son of the Oak." The old horse man stretched out his hand, and Kano reached out to hold it.

"Hello, Elder. My name is Canopus. Blake, thank you for your help last night. Kano said.

"No thanks, I learned from the fact that the stars changed last night because of your arrival." The elder pointed upward.

"Your name is interesting. It's closely related to the stars, right? The elder pulled over a chair, and Kano could tell that it was for humans.

"That's right, my name follows the family tradition. The star Canopus belongs to the constellation Austra. Kano explained.

"Your life is intimately connected to the oak tree, and the southern constellation was formed by the ascension of the Argo into the sky in Greek mythology." The old centaur smiled intriguingly, "The only oak-related thing on the Argo is its talking planks made from the branches of the Dodona holy oak. ”

"It is also said that it was made to make a bow image that can open its mouth to guide the course and predict the future." Kano nodded, "I prefer this statement, after all, the planks on the bow of a ship are nowhere near as majestic as the bow of a ship. ”

"But the southern vessel has no bow." The old horseman's smile was still the same, "Because Iasong was stoned to death in his later years by the bow statue that fell from the decaying Argo, it did not rise into the sky with the Argo and became a constellation." ”

"Interesting, isn't it?"

"It's really funny, there's a subtle sense of dislocation." Kano nodded, "But unless you know the constellations as you do, you won't notice that." ”

"You don't want to talk to me about mythology today, do you? Elder, do you have anything to do with me? Kano didn't go around in circles, but the old horse man looked like he couldn't get enough of it.

"Don't worry, I told Dumbledore, you recuperate here for a day today, and then go back to the castle tomorrow."

"Wait until the evening, and we'll talk about business. Now let's take a walk around the settlement, you're our guest. The elder smiled and sent Kano out the door, telling Abby to take him for a walk.

"Understood, Elder!" Abby jumped and ran away with Kano, and the little unicorn quickly followed.

Kano's steps were still a little vain, after all, a ceremony had been held last night, and then a lot of blood had been lost.

After a few steps, Abby stopped and shook her little head in confusion.

"What's wrong, Abby?" Kano asked.

"I'm wondering where to take you, but there are no flowers or fruits this season. I can't take you to the river to catch fish. Abby said with some distress.

"Actually, I don't mind... What have you all been up to lately? Kano asked.

"Recently, the elders have started to ask everyone to stock up on food and make weapons." Abby scratched her long hair, "He said that Mars was shining, and war might not be far away." ”

Kano knew in his heart that the centaurs' predictions of the general situation had always been accurate.

"But the evening is the day of our centaur discussion, and we can have a big meal after the discussion." Abby gave a look of yearning.

In the end, Abby took Kano and the little unicorn down to the river to fish, and Kano made a wooden spear and pulled up his trouser leg to tie the fish. Abby has been holding all kinds of dried fruits and trying to feed the little unicorn.

In the evening, Kano strung seven or eight large fish with a twig and carried them in his hands, and returned to the centaur camp.

A huge campfire had been set up in a clearing, and the horses came and went, carrying dried fruit, water, and the game they had caught today.

The elder sat on a table, his eyes half-closed and napping. Seeing Kano returning, he beckoned him to sit next to him.

As night fell, the horses came out of their houses. This time, even the children participated, and Kano appeared in front of all the centaurs.

"This is Canopus. Blake, son of the oak tree. Yesterday he was in the woods, rescuing a dying unicorn. The Elder introduced Kano as he spoke.

"Today's meeting is about the upcoming Wizarding Wars, and Canopus will be in attendance, so let's start talking."

As the elders announced the start of the meeting, the adult ponies quickly split into three teams. The first of the three teams standing were none other than Bane, Ronan and Ferencze.

"They represent three different opinions, and whoever supports them, stands behind them."

Abby whispers and Kano bites her ear, and the horses are literally voting with their feet.

"Fellow citizens! Our bows and arrows are practiced to protect our homeland, not to serve as shields for wizards! I'm against getting involved in the wizarding wars, so let them fight on their own. ”

Bane is surrounded by powerful young centaurs, but they are not willing to get involved in wizarding wars at all, and tend to form a fortress to protect themselves.

At the same time, they also have a lot of grievances against wizards. After all, few wizards communicate with centaurs on an equal footing, and they generally see centaurs as a type of magical creature.

After Bane's speech, Ferenze stepped forward, and behind him there were a number of older centaurs, quiet but exuding a presence that could not be ignored.

"I think we should be limited in our involvement in the wizarding wars." Ferenze threw out his opinion first.

"This wizarding war is likely to be started by a mysterious person. His attitude towards the inhuman race is well known, and once he wins, it is impossible for us to be in a safe corner. ”

"But our people can't afford to wear and tear on the battlefield. So I propose to send a small team of centaurs to join Dumbledore's side in the war. ”

"These centaurs may all be sacrificed, and to show my determination, I am willing to be the captain of this team."

Although Ferenze looks fantastical, his proposal is realistic. He saw the team of centaurs sent out, including himself, as a sacrifice.

He believed that Dumbledore's side would win, and that their sacrifice would create a more comfortable environment for the centaurs after the battle.

His speech caused some commotion, and several centaurs walked into his group from Bane's group.

Ronan was the last to speak.

"Fellow citizens, I am usually in charge of the internal affairs of the tribe. I don't know if you have noticed it, but the prey in the Forbidden Forest is decreasing. ”

Many of the centaurs in Bane's team looked thoughtful.

"Everybody knows what that is. The eight-eyed spider population has grown rapidly in recent years, with rabbits, deer, foxes, and even wolves on their diets. ”

"Since we couldn't find the spiders' nests for a while, this year, we exchanged some food with Dumbledore with extra herbs and fruits."

"But once the wizards are in a mess, what are we going to do? It's not a matter of eating less. ”

Ronan concluded, "Food is the most important commodity for the tribe, and for this reason, I think we should find a way to hasten the end of the Wizarding Wars. ”

The horses talked a lot, because it was not a matter of attitude, but a matter of life and death for the tribe.

"Alright, that's it."

The elder spoke, and the horses fell silent.

"Kano, what do you think?"

All the centaurs instantly focused their eyes on Kano.
