Chapter 131: Limited Respect
Nigelles. Blake was listening to the movement downstairs with his ears in his frame.
He had a portrait hanging in a bedroom on the third floor, and today he heard that Kano and Sirius were going back to the old mansion, so he ran back and waited.
Not surprisingly, Walburga howled for a while, and the other portraits in the room were already accustomed.
Then there was a faint sound of conversation coming from downstairs, and it seemed that everything was going on as normal.
Unexpectedly, Volburga howled again, and Nigelus subconsciously covered his ears in the frame.
Let's put it this way, he remembered the air defense sirens that the Germans sounded when they attacked London with airships during World War I.
"You're going to be mad at me! Magical creature hybrids? Absolutely not! Absolutely not! β
Fleur just made up her mind and told Walburga that although she was a pure-blood wizard, she was also a half-blood.
This is not a problem for the more enlightened wizarding families in the UK. Even in France, being able to marry a beautiful baby as a wife is a symbol of a man's charm.
But for a family like Blake, which clings to "tradition" and even Muggle sympathizers have to be expelled from the family tree, it would be a disaster for the last heir of the family to marry a mixed-race baby and come back to have children.
But Kano is not here for advice.
"You've been dead for years, Grandma. Today I'm just here to inform you, and the rest is a matter of the living. Kano's calm voice came from downstairs.
"Alas, Merlin! What kind of iniquity have I created? The eldest son was a bastard, and the younger son died early. The only grandson is going to marry one..."
"I forgot to tell you, I'm still from Gryffindor." Kano held out two fingers, "The Black family is the second, ever." β
Walbu threw himself to the ground in the frame, and the tattered velvet curtains that had been bitten by insects were suddenly closed, and it seemed that he would not want to see anyone for a while.
"Don't go, Grandma." Kano tugged at the curtains, "My father died against Voldemort!" β
Sirius's brow jumped, but he didn't say anything.
"My mother was forced to death by Bellatrix, and I'm going to chop her up sooner or later!"
"The Malfoys are miserable to me, and I have a good relationship with the Weasleys now."
"Voldemort doesn't have a few years to live, and sooner or later I cut off his head and use it as a stool to sit on."
"Grandma, are you talking? Why don't you speak? β
The curtains were closed, and Walburga seemed to be escaping reality, and Sirius struggled to lower his presence, laughing and convulsing.
For the first time, he had seen his stubborn and strong old mother choked like this.
Kano no longer struggled with the autistic Walburga, and took Fleur's hand back to the basement.
"Don't care, I expected it." Kano comforted Fleur, who bowed her head, "My grandmother is a die-hard supporter of Voldemort. β
"Yes, I, as an uncle, agree to this family business." Sirius smiled and patted Kano on the shoulder, "There aren't many good people in the Black family, and there are a few good people in the tapestry on the second floor. β
Fleur sat in her chair, and Kano touched her face with his hand, only to find that she was quietly trembling. He strangely picked up Fleur's face and saw that the girl was full of smiles.
"Huh? What are you laughing at? β
"I did my homework before I came." Fleur gently hugged Kano and leaned her face against him, "I was mentally prepared before I told me my identity as a half-race girl. β
"Your elders won't agree, but I don't know your reaction."
"Now you know?" Kano rubbed her long silver hair angrily, "Are you satisfied?" β
"Quite satisfied."
Fleur buries her face in Kano and lets out a smirk, and Kano retaliates by slapping her face twice.
"I haven't met my father, but I admire his choice. So I'm willing to call him father, recognize Blake's surname, and start the family up in the future. Kano paused, "Therefore, I am willing to respect Walburga." β
"But respect is respect, and no matter what she says, I won't let her turn this place into the repressive psychopathy that it once was."
Sirius leaned against the wall and spoke approvingly, "You're right, I don't even feel free to breathe in this house. β
Fleur stood up: "What will become of this family in the future is my task and yours." Let's get the job done first. β
Kano smiled and took Fleur's hand, and Sirius let out a dry cough.
"Well, I'm leaving?"
"As the current patriarch, I think you should find a wife." Kano said to Sirius.
"Wasn't I removed? Don't leave me alone. And how can a woman have a brother..."
At this point, Sirius's face turned gloomy again, and the three of them walked up to the second floor in silence.
On the wall of the hallway leading to the second floor hangs a row of house-elf heads. It was a tradition of the Black family, where house-elves who couldn't hold their plates would have their heads cut off and glued to the wall, and house-elves regarded this as a great honor.
Kreacher had also mentioned it to Cano several times, and Kano was disgusted with the tradition, feeling like an American collecting Indian scalp.
However, Kano also summed up his experience, and he can't be tough against Kreacher.
"Kreacher, when you die, I'll bury you with my parents."
With just such words, Kreacher fainted with excitement on the spot, and when he woke up, he said that he never wanted to hang on the wall again, and he wanted to follow Master Regulus forever.
Across the hallway is the living room, where intricately embroidered sofas and writing desks made of fine wood, with a fireplace in the corner, glass cabinets on either side, and the Blake family tree on one wall.
But these things are in tatters, the sofa has become a fox nest, the writing desk is deformed and cracked, the glass cabinet is dirty, and something seems to be tossing and making strange noises in it.
The trio opened the cupboard, which was filled with "precious" dark magic items, and Kano found that none of them contained very strong magical powers, but they were all rare objects.
"The old man put them here as a faΓ§ade, and the really high-risk ones are stored in Gringotts." Sirius explained, "No matter how much my parents worship the dark arts, they won't be able to play with a row of skulls in the study, that's pure perversion. β
Kano smiled dryly and nodded, the crystal bottle full of blood in the cabinet, the tweezers that want to pierce people's skin, and the music box that can hypnotize are not harmless "antique ornaments".
It can only be said that everyone's acceptance is really different, even if Sirius is a rebel, and he is not so sensitive to many dark magic items.
Finally, at the very bottom, Cano got the locket that Regulus had taken out of the cave with his life.
