Chapter 10: Flickering in progress
The room, locked with iron locks, was already covered in dust, one side of the wall had been blackened by flames, and half of the ceiling had been crumbled by a devastating explosion.
The three of them looked around and saw that some of the furniture such as the study chairs, bookcases, and stone beds were charred or exploded, and the most striking thing was the charred black iron box at the foot of a bed.
Treasure Chest!
Rock Breaker Werther's eyes lit up, and he subconsciously walked in the direction of the treasure chest.
However, before he could take a second step, an unusually powerful burst of negative energy from the front of the bed, and then, an illusory spirit floated up from under the floor and stopped in front of the gray dwarf wanderer, its scarlet eyes full of burning rage.
Then, a muffled voice of suppressed anger rang in the ears of the three Wrens:
"Your presence offends me, and your lives will be taken away! Living, my treasure belongs only to me, and you should not come and deprive it! ”
Undead, Bound Spirits!
Seeing the spirit in front of him, which barely maintained his human form, Wren frowned slightly.
The Binding Spirit is an ethereal creature created by evil and darkness.
They hate all living creatures, and they hate the light that nourishes living creatures. Despite being made of darkness, the Bound Spirits take some human form.
The lowest challenge level of the Soul Binding is also level 5, which is not at all something that the current trio can fight against.
If you want to kill this bound spirit, at least one of the three will have to answer here.
Wren was even more glad that the binder had not yet mutated into a level 11 Fearful Broach. Otherwise, the three of them will be killed by the other party in seconds, and their souls will be torn out of their bodies by the other party, and they will become ghosts controlled by the other party, and they will not be able to live forever.
However, seeing this bound spirit standing in front of the gray dwarf wanderer, roaring to protect the iron box behind him, Wren suddenly understood that this bound spirit barely belonged to the type that could still communicate.
Occasionally, some newly born binders may retain memories of their time as mortals in the form of Shadow Echoes. These memories allow the Bound Spirit to unconsciously guard the most important objects of their lives, or to suppress their anger at the living when they think of old friendships or loves.
Obviously, that iron box was an extremely important thing to this bound spirit.
Not only Wren, but also the well-informed Rock Crusher Thorin, who is the captain of the slave catcher, also discovered this.
He pulled his brother behind him and said in a deep voice:
"Powerful undead, we have no intention of offending you, let alone robbing your treasures."
Even though he had the Netherworld Weapon against the Undead Treasure in his hand, the Grey Dwarf warrior still didn't dare to act rashly.
The aura on this bound spirit was extremely powerful, far from being comparable to the ghouls and skeletons they had encountered along the way.
Their brothers' most important task was to search for the fellow who had fled into the depths of the mines, not to hunt for treasure, and there was no point in expending their limited strength on this powerful bound spirit.
"Well, you're not here to kill Memmesk and rob me of my treasure?"
"No, Mr. Memesk, we have absolutely no intention of attacking your treasure idea!"
Rock Crusher Thorin swore and said righteously, and Wren on the side also nodded quickly.
"Mr. Momeske, who is as weak as us, how dare you fight the mind of a treasure as strong as yours? Do you say? ”
It's not because you don't dare, it's just because you can't beat it for the time being.
Wren said as he complained frantically in his heart.
Looking at the treasure chest behind the bound spirit Memesk, Rock Breaker Werther was quite unwilling.
That's something that is valued by a powerful undead creature, and there must be a lot of value in it!
It's just that when he wanted to speak, he was stopped by his brother with a stern look.
As the elder brother, Rock Breaker Thorin knew better than anyone how greedy his brother was.
The scarlet eyes of the bound spirit glanced at the three of them, and after a while, they seemed to agree with Wren's statement, and then said slowly:
"Mortals, the great mage Memmesk has given you a chance to pay a tribute to a magical item to prove that you are not here to covet my treasure in exchange for your wretched souls."
At the same time, rows of small characters were brushed out of Wren's field of vision.
"The charm test was successful."
"The negotiation was successful."
"You have successfully lobbied the Bound Spirit of Memmeske to give up the idea of attacking you for the time being."
"Your negotiation skills have been increased by 1 point, and your bluffing skills have been increased by 4 points."
This is really a fool......
Wren blinked his eyes and silently took two steps back.
What does this kind of thing have to do with him as a poor soldier? Even if it was going to bleed, it should be these two gray dwarves.
When the Rock Breaker brothers heard this, their faces suddenly turned as black as coal.
But people are under the eaves, they have to bow their heads, and if they don't want to be ghosts, then they can only obediently pay for their lives.
Eventually, Rock Breaker Thorin pulled out a scroll from his dimensional pouch and placed it in front of Memesk.
Before becoming a Binding Spirit, Memesk was a powerful mage who was able to value magical items, even now as an undead.
He didn't have to open the scroll, he just glanced at it and could tell what it was.
"Magic Missile Scroll, nice stuff!"
Putting away the scroll, the scarlet in Memesk's eyes weakened a lot. Obviously, he was satisfied with the tribute of the three of them.
After a flickering of his eyes, he slowly lowered his height and floated in front of the three of them, saying:
"For your sake, I am willing to give you a small task, to kill my enemies, and you can share a part of my knowledge and take a part of the coins or the equivalent of gems."
When Rock Breaker Werther heard this, his eyes lit up, and he took the lead before his brother could speak:
"Dear Mr. Memmeske, we are at your service!"
Rock Crusher Thorin frowned, glanced at his brother, and did not speak, because he knew that it was too late to say anything, so he could only wait and see what the mission of this undead was.
Seeing that the group of uninvited adventurers agreed, Memmesk nodded with satisfaction.
"Good. Your mission is simple, take out the otherworldly creature hiding in the spell factory, and the reward will be yours. Remember, mortals, I, the great Memmeske, are able to sense the existence of life around them, and don't try to cheat on rewards! Great as I am, and not so much patience! ”
A low roar emanated from the mouth of the Bound Spirit.
This is an order, but also a threat.
And Wren and the Rock Breaker brothers have no choice.
Spell Factory?
"Mr. Mage, you're saying that there's a fork in the road that leads to the Spell Factory, not the mines?"
Rock Crusher Thorin asked cautiously, suppressing the excitement in his heart.
The Binding Spirit's voice grew impatient.
"Yes, Spell Factory. The Vandalin Mine was mined by humans and dwarves, and it was the residence of the mages who came to visit and inspect the pit, and the main road through the underground river in the middle led to the depths of the pit, and the last path led to the spell factory. It's a place where natural magical powers are used to augment dwarven armaments and gnome items, and the otherworldly creatures summoned by the creatures of the wilderness are entrenched in the factory. Your mission is very simple, it is to destroy it and reclaim the Spell Factory! ”
After listening to Memesk's brief introduction, Rock Crusher Thorin only felt that his heart was about to jump out.
Oh my God, Spell Factory!
He just came to the surface once, and he could meet such a good thing, could it be that the lucky lady was taking care of him?
Exhaling slightly, Rock Breaker Thorin nodded fiercely.
"Master Mage, don't worry, we will wipe out that otherworldly creature!"
With that, he turned around and walked out of the room first.
Wren and Rock Breaker Werther hurried to follow.
