Chapter 63: Epilogue and New Beginning
"Thank you for coming to mourn the lives lost in this unprecedented catastrophe, heroes and mortals, whose lives deserve our greater respect......"
Today, exactly one month after the bloody disaster that shocked the world in Washington, the new president of the Justice League, Black Canary, proposed to hold a public memorial and condolence ceremony.
Batman objected to this but was not accepted, and the Black Canary felt that in such a difficult time, it was necessary to make the populace aware that the League was still protecting them.
And a girl in a long black dress and in a wheelchair, almost outermost of the venue, watched the black canary's speech with a complicated gaze.
โ...... The identity of a hero has different meanings for different people, but one thing remains the same...... They are guardians, symbols of hope and messengers of justice. Even in the face of the most brutal and bloodthirsty demons of all time, they rose to the occasion......"
Why did things get to this point?
For Barbara Gordon, her experience over the past month has been nothing short of a nightmare.
It wasn't that she was in a near death position because she was attacked that night, and her own life was put on the line for Barbara, who was determined to fight criminals.
But when she woke up from a week's coma, she knew that Washington, D.C., had been wiped off the map cleanly, and a whole bunch of superheroes she knew and even friends were killed.
And the murderer who killed them, who is considered the most murderous and evil villain in history, is the young man who made an appointment to spend Chinese New Year's Eve with him that night.
Red Douglas.
At first, Barbara wanted to find out the truth, find out why Red did what he did, or directly find Red's whereabouts and question him. But Batman stops her and tells her that it's over, and that Red Douglas has been sent out of this world by Batman once and for all.
But how could things end so easily - Barbara is not a pessimistic person, but now half of the core members of the Justice League are dead, and several famous superheroes have also died at the same time, Wonder Woman and Superman are missing, and Batman has not been seen in everyone's sight.
The superhero credibility built by the Justice League has collapsed, many people no longer believe that heroes can protect them, and some even believe that the Justice League is responsible for this disaster.
Even as the Black Canary was giving a speech, Barbara could faintly hear the voices of the protests coming from outside the venue.
There was even some commotion in the venue...... Wait, something isn't right.
Barbara immediately sensed that something was wrong with the commotion that had arisen in the venue, at first it was just a few people suddenly going crazy and yelling, but soon more and more people joined them, and these people were acting strangely...... And they all shouted the same slogan in unison.
"Anti-life proves all this right!"
"It's all one! It's all in Darkseid! โ
Barbara heard the words vaguely from afar, but even so, she could feel a faint pain in her head.
But as this continues, the situation seems to be getting more and more chaotic, and just as Barbara is about to go inside the venue to investigate the situation, her wheelchair is pulled by someone.
"Don't go over, Barbara, and don't listen or look at any of their messages."
Barbara breathed a sigh of relief when she heard the low, steady voice as always, and at the same time, a green light crossed the sky, and she saw Green Lantern Hal Jordan reach out and emit an emerald green light from the light ring, enveloping the people who were suddenly out of control.
"I'm sorry, today's memorial service is ending early, so please leave the venue in an orderly manner-"
Barbara turned her head in surprise to look at Batman behind her, who was now Bruce Wayne in a casual suit, to be exact.
"Sure enough, as I expected, they wanted to spread the anti-life equation through this memorial service that was broadcast live to the world, but I have cut off global communications to try to keep the damage to a minimum."
"What the hell is going on?"
"I'll tell you more when I get to the watchtower."
Bruce's face was solemn, and he pushed Barbara's wheelchair out of the chaotic venue.
"Darkseid has started attacking...... We must also be prepared for war. Lose Martian Manhunters, and you're our communications relay, oracle. We've set up a makeshift command center in the watchtower, and all who remain, heroes and villains, superhumans and mortals, must be unitedโ"
"In order to face the ultimate crisis of this world!"
โโ
At the same time, another world, a more distant world beyond the multiverse.
A red meteor streaked across the sky and landed pinpointingly in a giant crater in the middle of the wilderness.
"If you look at the news, it looks like this is it...... Got it. โ
There were already many local people around the huge pit, and they all talked about the man who suddenly appeared in the giant pit from the sky, and watched in disbelief as the man walked towards the depths of the huge pit, but no one dared to step forward to stop him.
I saw that this was a young man with white hair that stood on end, with well-defined muscle lines on his body. But what was even more impressive was his eyes, the whites of which were covered with red blood, and faintly glowed red in the dim night, like wild beasts.
But something was incongruous about the little animal on his shoulder, a little kitten with blue hair, who was lazily lying on his shoulder and seemed a little impatient.
"Meow~"
"You're not right, Lingxing, it's not stealing."
The white-haired man grinned wildly and walked to the bottom of the crater, where a silver-white glimmer of metal sledgehammer was quietly inserted.
"I don't think anyone wants this hammer."
I saw the white-haired man stretch out his hand and hold the handle of the hammer for a moment, the green tendons on his hand seemed to have used all his strength, but the hammer on the ground still did not move.
Seeing this scene, the surrounding onlookers seemed to have known that such a laugh would be made, and a red-necked man who seemed to have drunk a lot of beer seemed to have forgotten what the white-haired man had just flown into the air, and shouted at him from a distance.
"Don't think about it, brother, we've already tried, and even three trucks can't pull this evil thing!"
The white-haired man didn't seem to give up, though, grinning, and then reaching out again to hold the handle of the hammer, but this time as a ring on the middle finger of his right hand shone red, it seemed that some blood-colored liquid began to slide down his palm, covering the entire hammer.
Crackle - boom!
In the midst of the bewildered gazes of the onlookers, the white-haired man raised the hammer aloft as a dazzling blood-colored electric light danced around him.
"It's coming...... I've got to get some souvenirs and then go backโ"
"In this Marvel Cinematic Universe world."
