Chapter 100: The Runaway Iron Man
S.H.I.E.L.D., Project Pegasus Underground Laboratory.
It was originally used to study the use of the Cosmic Rubik's Cube, but now it is a mess, as if it has suffered a war, there are cracks caused by artillery bombardment everywhere, and there are many strips of burning marks on the ground, and Red knows that this is proof that Ivan Vanko has fought with the Mourning Whip armor embodied in the red light energy.
And Eric, Jane, Darcy and other researchers have been transferred and protected, and Sif should be with them, and now the only ones left here are S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who are cleaning up the mess, and Nick Fury with a gloomy face.
"Long time no see—uh, about six hours?"
Red greeted Nick Fury with a relaxed expression, but the latter only frowned, looking at Red as if he had seen a scourge.
"How did you bastard get in, I remember ordering no one to enter."
"It's Agent Clint Barton, and that Hawkeye uncle was kind enough to help me show me the way, and he said he was glad to finally have an intruder who greeted him seriously instead of knocking him out when he met him."
Hawkeye still knew Red, the poor guy had been knocked unconscious twice in a day, so he simply let him in after seeing Red, and he knew he couldn't stop him anyway.
"Listen, Ivan Vanko is a wanted man, I'm sorry about his capture, but from my standpoint-"
"I'm not here for Ivan, Director Fury, but for Tony Stark."
Red stared at Nick Fury with burning eyes.
"I need you to tell me what Iron Man has done in the past few months."
——
Due to the interference of Red and Ivan, Tony of this world does not seem to have found a new material to replace the palladium element, and is still threatened by palladium poisoning from the Ark reactor.
As mentioned before, now that Ivan has become Red's companion, Red will not interfere in the feud between him and Tony - it doesn't matter if Tony dies of palladium poisoning or Ivan goes to Tony's house to kill.
But the wonderful thing about things is that Ivan didn't do anything.
In other words, Red gently bumped Tony in order to recruit Ivan before, and Iron Man's life trajectory went further and further in the direction of losing control.
First of all, due to the brief contact with Red at the time, as well as Colonel Rod's injury and disability, Tony seems to have a certain amount of mental stimulation and fell into a serious anxiety.
He began to frantically upgrade and produce Iron Man armor with Red as an imaginary enemy, and at the same time, due to the fact that wearing the armor himself would accelerate the spread of palladium poisoning, Tony began to research unmanned armor technology.
The threat of death from palladium poisoning has greatly stimulated his work efficiency.
From Red's point of view, it seems that Tony Stark's psychological problems that should have arisen after the New York War were triggered by himself in advance.
And Nick Fury, who was supposed to find out about this in advance and stop him, was overwhelmed by the information provided by Red about S.H.I.E.L.D. being infiltrated by Hydra, and had no time or extra manpower to take care of this self-defeating playboy.
Pepper also has no time to comfort him because he has just taken over the Stark Industries - and in this world, Pepper and Tony have not actually established a relationship, not even boyfriend and girlfriend.
So, Tony starts to go further and further down the path of madness, and of course, there are two guys who are fueling it in the process.
Eric "The Golden Panther" Cummongo, Thaddeus "The Thunderbolt General" Ross.
The first is Eric Cummongo, who was once a murderous mercenary. Tony Stark wanted more vibranium for the new armor, so he teamed up with Kjelmungo to use his status as the king's nephew to enter Wakanda and secure a vibranium export contract for Tony.
However, Wakanda's investigation, believing that Tony Stark would use vibranium for weapons, decisively rejected their request. But what they don't know is that for Tony, who thinks his days are numbered, this deal is not business-
It's a task that must be done.
The situation began to spiral out of control, starting with the assassination of the old king of Wakanda, T'Chaka, and under the instigation and design of Kelmungo, Wakanda pointed the finger at the United States.
The new Panther T'Challa, who succeeded to the throne, wanted to avoid war and secretly came to the United States to investigate the truth, but his body was found in Stark Industries in New York.
Tony becomes the prime suspect, but he doesn't seem to care about the damage to his reputation, instead generously admitting that T'Challa was killed by an automatic defense weapon during the break-in.
What's more, Tony demonstrated the use of vibranium at the hearing, promising that the vibranium unmanned mechanical armor produced in the future would be delivered to the Wehrmacht.
As a result, General Thaddeus Ross, who had a very poor relationship with Tony, went against the norm, and the famous hawkish general strongly supported Tony Stark's innocence, and bit back, offering to make Wakanda pay for his spying on other countries' military secrets.
Wakanda is not troublesome but certainly not afraid of it, and at the instigation of Kermungo, war between this hidden country and the United States is on the verge of breaking out.
Before the war, both Wakanda and the United States believed that they would never lose, because Wakanda had a technological level that was 100 years ahead of the world, and the United States had the strongest military power in the world on the surface.
However, the war lasted less than three weeks before it ended – Kermungo staged a coup d'état from within, Wakanda was disarmed with high-tech defenses in civil strife, and the fortress was always the easiest to breach from within.
At the same time, Tony Stark used the vibranium materials and Wakanda technology smuggled out by Kermungo to quickly mass-produce a batch of unmanned mechanical armor made of vibranium, smoothing out most of the technological gap with Wakanda.
In the end, Kermungo managed to take advantage of the chaos to seize power in Wakanda and become the new king of Wakanda. And by signing a series of treaties and an armistice with the United States—
The two most important of these are the ability for the United States to garrison the Mechanized Armored Corps, and the Stark Industries to represent the mining and export of vibranium.
After listening to Nick Fury's words, Red held his chin and fell into deep thought, although he had already learned part of the situation from Ivan Vanko, it was still Nick Fury's information that was more comprehensive.
The question is, although it is indeed Tony Stark's style to build the Iron Legion, is it really only the influence of his own incident to make Iron Man, who was already determined to turn the prodigal son back, into an arms dealer again?
Behind the increasingly out-of-control Iron Man, what else is affecting him......
"I warn you, don't act rashly, Red Douglas, it's a kind reminder from me."
Nick Fury stared at Red warily and said in a low voice.
"Listen, if you go to save Ivan Vanko now, you will not only have to face Tony's vibranium army, but you will also become an enemy of Wakanda...... So I'll find a way to negotiate with Tony, and you must not act rashly until then-"
Suddenly, Nick Fury paused, he looked at the calm Red in front of him, and had an ominous premonition in his heart.
Is this man the kind of person who will calmly listen to his own story when his companion is caught?
"Director Nick Fury, it seems that you are not very well-informed."
With a smile on his face, Red gently patted Fury's shoulder and said lightly.
"Just half an hour ago, Tony Stark's inferior version of the Ultron Legion was wiped out—"
"And the new king of Wakanda, Kelmengo, will not be my problem anymore."
