Chapter 207: A Celebrity Appears

Is the Buddha a god?

Is this a difficult question to answer?

Needless to say? Definitely! A random passer-by on the street knows that the Buddha is a god, otherwise so many people go to worship the Buddha every day? If it's not a god, what do people worship?

But why did the abbot of Daxingshan Temple frown, as if he was in boundless confusion?

The Buddha is a god, this is the opinion of ordinary people. If a person who really cultivates Buddhism also thinks that the Buddha is a god, he has not yet started. The old abbot is a profound person in Buddhism, and of course he knows that the Buddha is not a god, and Buddhism is a method of cultivation.

If the opposite side is Daomen to argue the Tao at this time, then the old abbot has 10,000 answers to deal with.

But not now, not because he is facing Prime Minister Du Ruhui, but in front of everyone, almost the people of the whole city have come. The people are ignorant and ignorant, and when they tell them what the Dharma is, they don't have the patience to listen carefully. I don't think about it, and I don't have the mood to theorize.

This is Du Ruhui's cleverness. Du Ruhui once argued with Xiao Rui that the Buddha is not a god, but just a mortal who has achieved cultivation, and he is a sage and wise man who has passed down the Dharma that can be practiced. But not the omniscient and omnipotent God who controls everything.

At this time, his question is definitely a heart-wrenching argument.

Because Buddhism needs the Buddha to be a god and an idol to be worshipped and believed. Otherwise, how do you explain the peace incense of Daxingshan Temple? How to explain the incense money of various Buddhist temples?

People come to the temple to burn incense and worship the Buddha, but not to learn the Dharma, who is not to seek the blessing of the gods, either to get rid of illness and disaster, or to ask for children and wealth. If you weren't an immortal, you wouldn't be able to do these things, mortals like me, I worship you? What do you think? I'll spit on you.

So at this moment, the old abbot did not dare to tell the truth, did not dare to admit that the Buddha was not a god.

But if he said that the Buddha was a god, Du Ruhui would definitely have arrangements later. Everything about the Buddha needs to be justified by the practice of the Dharma, and the problem is that the practice of the Dharma is not about cultivating the gods, but about guiding one's own state of practice. There has never been evidence that the Buddha is a god.

There is a classic allusion in the Buddhist scriptures: the Buddha pointed to the moon. It means that my Buddha told you that the moon was there and showed you the direction. But the ignorant people all looked at the Buddha's fingers, but not at the moon. Buddhist scriptures and Buddhas are the same, Buddhist scriptures and Dharma are like fingers pointing to the moon, and the Buddha is the moon. All the sutras and Dharma are all guiding the direction of practice, not telling you what a Buddha is.

So why do the people firmly believe that the Buddha is God? The propaganda of Buddhism? That's right, the propaganda of Buddhism. There is no evidence that the Buddha is a god, but there is no evidence that the Buddha is not a god! Such propaganda is not needed by the Buddha, but by the needs of Buddhism, Buddhist temples, and survival.

The Buddha only needs one or two disciples to practice the Dharma, or throw out three or two true scriptures for someone to read. But it didn't say that it was necessary to build high-rise temples and clay sculptures with golden bodies. These are all made by ignorant people who do not practice the Dharma enough, not by the Buddha.

In fact, the Buddha has many magical powers, far beyond the comprehension of ordinary people, isn't this a god in the eyes of mortals? Therefore, Buddhism will use these magical powers to corroborate, so the people will believe it and worship it.

Is it worshipping the gods? No, in fact, it is a person who worships great supernatural powers, worships someone who is stronger than himself. If there is such a person, a great supernatural person who is much stronger than himself, and a person who can do many things that ordinary people can't do, in the hearts of the people, such a person is the word of God, then it can be regarded as worshipping the gods.

But they forgot that these great supernatural beings were also cultivated step by step by mortals, and their essence was still human, not other races.

As the Buddhist scriptures say: Why deceive yourself? This is self-sufficient.

Wang Sheng, the king of Xinxue, also said: The way of the sage, my nature is self-sufficient, and I do not seek anything else.

The path of cultivation and the path of success are all in one's own heart, in oneself, everyone has awareness, but how many can really awaken their own awareness? Most people are ignorant, no, should I say lazy. All my life shouting: How nice would it be to have a savior to save yourself?

Some people chant Buddha, some people ask for heaven, some people ask for the land of mountain gods, and some people ask for the national government, in fact, they all mean the same thing, that is, they hope that someone can be the master of their house and solve difficulties.

But they were wrong from the beginning and forgot one thing, that is, only they can be their own masters. Expecting others to save you all day long, what are you doing yourself? Why not save yourself?

There is a slogan in later generations, the people are the masters of the country, and they will stand up from now on! How long has it been since you stood up? It seems to be on his knees again.

Why? Looking up at the society, we are still shouting that the country is the master for me, and the government will help us avenge our grievances, punish corrupt officials, and punish profiteers......

Doesn't it mean that the people are the masters of the country? So who is the master of this country?

Everybody will say: O people!

So who are you?

I? I am an ordinary person, a powerless and weakest common man.

Hehe...... You see, even he has forgotten that he is the people.

So, history is always strikingly similar, what refers to things like deer for horses, camels for horses, teahouses, Kong Yiji, emperors' new clothes, and so on, and what about the 21st century? Isn't it still happening everywhere? Maybe the world has never changed.

In the next 100 or hundreds of years, if there is any more 100-year humiliation or the like, it is not surprising at all, and those who kneel down deserve to be bullied.

Back to business: A question is asked? So how do you keep the monastery? Is the old abbot old and confused? I have been standing silent, and I haven't seen that the people around me have started to point fingers?

Then a young monk suddenly stood up and said loudly: "Of course the Buddha is a god!" ”

The old abbot turned around and shouted, "Xuanzang, step aside!" ”

Xuanzang? Is that Xuanzang? Xiao Rui looked at the young monk curiously, with a thin body, bright eyes, and a handsome face, could he really meet a celebrity?

Xiao Rui waved his hand and played the circle, "Master, since this master wants to speak, let him speak, Ben Hou also wants to see what the future generation of Daxingshan Temple will be." Could it be that the master is not confident in the apprentices he teaches? Or are you not confident in the Dharma preached by Daheungzenji Temple? ”

The old abbot explained: "Xuanzang is not a disciple of the old monk, he is a wandering monk from Wutai Mountain, who used to practice in the Dazong Temple, and only came to the Daxingshan Temple the day before yesterday. ”

Xiao Rui smiled: "It doesn't matter, as long as you are a disciple of Buddhism, you are qualified to answer questions on behalf of Buddhism." Master Xuanzang, can you explain to everyone, is the Buddha a god? ”

The old abbot was stopped, Xuanzang was strong, but he couldn't bear the bullying of Buddhism to this point, and he was confident that with his own level of debate, he would definitely not find fault with answering this question.

Slowly walked to the middle, put his palms together and saluted everyone around, and then Xuanzang said loudly: "The Buddha is a god, and he once made forty-eight great vows with a compassionate heart, vowing to spend all the sufferings in the world and create a supreme Pure Land Buddha country. ”

Du Ruhui nodded, seemingly agreeing with his answer, and Xuanzang was secretly happy in his heart.

But in the next second, Du Ruhui once again threw out a question: "Since the Buddha is a god, that is to say, when the world encounters calamities and sufferings, can they ask the Buddha for protection?" ”

Xuanzang blurted out, "Of course! ”

"Xuanzang, shut up!" The old abbot was no longer calm, and hurriedly stopped.
