Chapter 6: Western Express

During the two days that the pioneers were guarding, John was tied up so tightly that there was no way to escape. Joshua set up camp in the Great Valley, and every day sent a man out hunting on the Black Pearl, and it must be said that their marksmanship was among the best, and each time they returned with a full load, John wondered where they had learned the skill of riding and shooting.

On the third day, it was some time since the sun had set, but the people who had gone out hunting had not returned, which was somewhat unexpected.

"What's going on? Did Andrew have an accident? Joshua stood on the top of the hill and muttered to herself.

Ten minutes later, just as Joshua Finger was about to send his men to look for him, the red-haired, blue-eyed man named Andrew led Black Pearl along the path up the mountain.

"Train...... Train... That place—Wallace Station," Andrew said hesitantly, his excitement palpable.

"There's a rich man who moved and chartered the whole train, and at this time it's loading, dozens of boxes, and I bet there's a lot of gold coins in there!"

"Andrew, are you right?" After getting Andrew's affirmation, Joshua lit a cigarette and said slowly: "Brothers, our food is almost finished, and now there is one more moth here, but God still favors us, the train under the mountain is a gift, from Cuba to here, I don't think you have experienced such a painful thing as robbing the train, I hope the laws of America can't control the people of England!"

Joshua pulled out a map, drew in circles on it, and then drew a sinuous line with his fingertips, and the final punch was finalized.

"That's it!" He spat out the cigarette in his mouth, looking full of confidence.

Then, Joshua ordered his men to untie John, and John thought he was going to let him go, thinking that the crying and miserable pleading for the past few days had worked, and Joshua walked straight over and pointed John's rifle at John's head.

Seeing John's desperate expression, the uncle laughed, handed the rifle to John, and gave him another bottle of Kentucky Bourbon.

"I wanted to scare you, drink some wine and strengthen your courage, but after robbing the train this time, you and us are grasshoppers on a rope."

John hesitantly took the gun and the wine, thinking that his sin was far worse than robbing the train, and decided to flee at the right time.

The pioneers walked upstream along the Dakota River, changed direction at a river confluence, and groped their way along the Creek, and when they saw lights not far away, Joshua ordered them to stop.

"Moniso, Harlan, you two lurk on the Wallace platform, and as soon as the train is gone, you rob the platform man, and the rich gentleman is sure to give him a lot of good. The rest of the people went with me to grab the train on the hill in front of me, and did what I was told, and I didn't want to make too much of a fuss. ”

As Joshua said, the road ahead of Wallace Station was a cliff, with dense larches on one side of the tracks for easy concealment, and bare rocks on the other. This part of the railroad tracks has a large bend to Ambarino State, and Joshua has a shrewd plan to seize the train on the border between the two states, where the police are unable to enforce the law due to the ownership of the executive power.

"Dude, I think we should think of something to stop the train." Andrew whispered beside Joshua.

Joshua nodded, holding his head in his hand and pondering for a moment, staring at the railroad tracks with stunned eyes. He couldn't be playing with the idea of tearing down the railroad tracks, was he? John thought.

About ten minutes later, the sound of a train's whistle sounded at Wallace Station, and then the crowd began to hear the sound of deflated people as white smoke slowly rose above the locomotive.

"Shut your mouths, don't we still have a little lamb? He promised him that he would make a meritorious service!" Joshua turned his head, his eyes full of malice.

Before John could escape, the pioneers pounced on him with ropes, and several men worked together to throw John onto the railroad tracks, much to John's surprise.

"John, behave well, the brothers are hungry, and besides, the train driver is not stupid enough to take a human life."

The whistle was getting closer and closer, and the rails began to shake violently, and even the sleepers trembled like seizures, and the sand, rock, birds, and beasts around him bounced like they fled, and John's body was shaken to the core.

John closed his eyes and waited for death to come, his heart could not be calmed at all, he felt the white spotlight of the locomotive hit his eyelids mercilessly, as if heaven was approaching him step by step.

As expected, the train began to slow down, and the sound of the metal wheels rubbing against the rails was so intense that no one wanted to hear it a second time.

Finally, the bucket of the train stopped steadily in front of John, like thousands of horses on the precipice, and the next second, everything was silent.

Seeing that the train stopped, Joshua led the crowd out of the grass to board the train, and engaged in a fierce battle with the conductor and the rich man's personal bodyguard.

John was still tied up in front of the locomotive, but he didn't want to participate in this battle, he thought that it would be better not to have such a "meritorious service" again, hoping that the group of miscellaneous people would not be addicted to robbing the train.

Time passed amid invective and wailing, maybe half an hour had passed? An hour? No one could tell but hear the savage celebration that the pioneers had won, enjoying the harvest after the slaughter.

Behind John, from the direction of Valentine, the sound of the horse team was heard.

"Valentine Patrol, lay down your weapons!"

Ten minutes later, the Valentine patrol defeated the pioneers by virtue of their numerical superiority, but Joshua and a few other remnants of the army fled with some belongings.

"These men are so bold as to rob Mr. Hauser's train, but luckily the mayor informed us in time to escort us, right, Brother Williams."

"Yes, but these outlaws have been killed, and there is not a single one left alive to interrogate."

"Yo, isn't this one? Who tied it up for us? It's yours, Williams, I don't want my precious Alden horse to carry this heavy thing. ”

"Okay, Brother Solm, don't ask for credit in front of the bearded man when the time comes." The officer, Williams, jumped up in front of John from his horse and poked John as he lay on the ground with the spurs on his riding boots.

"Alright, take him back and hand him over to the bearded man, and send one or two to inform the other trains, everyone will call it a day early, and I promised to spend the night with Margaret."
