Illidan is the twin brother of Malfurion Furywind, and like his older brother, the brothers grew up with the priestess Tyrande Yufeng thousands of years before the War of the Ancients.

Unlike his brother Malfurion, Illidan had no patience for learning the Druids, even though both brothers studied under the demigod Cenarius.

Cenarius decided that Illidan's current condition was not suitable for direct contact with the mysteries of nature, so he no longer taught him directly, but suggested that he learn from Malfurion.

Illidan was frustrated and humiliated by this decision, and for the first time he felt the pressure from his brother.

Eventually, Illidan decided to focus on the Arcane Magic, which was the mainstream of the Night Elves at the time, and achieved very good results.
