Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Narrow Dormant Chamber
Black, absolute black, it's a space where no light source exists, so dark that you can't see anything.
But then, suddenly, a faint pale blue-yellow light lit up in something resembling a metal coffin erected on the side of the pitch-black environment.
Cao Ge woke up from his deep sleep, slowly opened his eyes, frowned and was extremely tired, and then followed by weakness all over his body, his brain was like a crash, and he was actually suspended in a small iron box nearly two meters long.
There was a dim yellow light in the box, and some iron racks and hoses that he didn't know what they did.
Cao Ge stretched out his right hand tiredly, took off the oxygen mask on his face indiscriminately, and began to struggle, he didn't know what was happening, his head hurt so much that it was difficult to think simply.
Cao Ge gasped, there was a piece of transparent glass on the metal iron sheet in front of him, and it was dark outside.
Cao Ge struggled and pressed the button on the device that put him in the air.
With a "bang", the whole person fell from the air and collapsed on the cold iron sheet.
At this moment, there was a "click", the hatch opened automatically, and Cao Ge fell out without paying attention.
"Bang dang!"
Cao Ge crawled out of the hibernation chamber on all fours and limply.
He was weak, his surroundings were dark, and Cao Ge was slumped to the ground, and he had no idea why he was here.
He looked down at himself, his body was slimy, and his skin was like a thick layer of transparent wet glue, which was very uncomfortable.
Cao Ge pulled out the needle inserted in his arm, tore off the almost dry wet glue on his skin, and then stood up tremblingly.
The scene in front of him was so unfamiliar, he glanced back at the iron box that resembled a sleeping pod.
How did he get here?
"Ah~"
Cao Ge's head suddenly ached violently, and Cao Ge hugged his head with his hand and screamed, as if it was about to explode.
The sensation lasted until a quarter of an hour later, when the pain in my head subsided.
Cao Ge staggered to a metal table, looking at the dense buttons and LCD screens on it, frowning and a little confused.
There was a thick layer of dust on the metal table, almost half a centimeter thick, and that's when he realized that the air was full of musty smells.
Cao Ge opened the sliding chair in front of the table and sat down, blowing into the metal tabletop, and suddenly the dust flew up.
"cough~cough~cough~"
Cao Ge kept coughing, and without waiting to see the font on the button, he got up and walked to other places.
In the dim light, Cao Ge walked to a tin box that looked like a wardrobe.
The tin box was very tall, almost three meters high, and there were some illegible stickers on the surface of the cold tin sheet.
Cao Ge opened the iron cabinet, which was a private storage space, with a few black uniform-like clothes hanging out, and some daily necessities, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and the like.
Cao Ge flipped through it and found a few unfamiliar photos.
But after thinking about it, he didn't have the slightest impression, so Cao Ge put it down.
Cao Ge took off his clothes and put them on himself, then sat down on a pullable stool in the closet.
"Why am I here?"
This was the thought in Cao Ge's mind, and he raised his head to look at the iron box that resembled a sleeping pod not far away.
He only remembered that his name was Cao Ge, and he didn't know anything else.
This basement-like space caused him a great sense of depression, surrounded by walls made of steel, dim, except for the light in the sleeping pod, everything else was dark, and only the things around the dormancy pod could be vaguely seen.
After sitting for a while, Cao Ge returned to the hibernation pod.
The metal hatch cover of the hibernation pod has the number and personnel information affixed to it.
"Colonel Walker." Cao Ge said.
"Walker?"
Cao Ge glanced at the empty sleeping pod, he was a little panicked.
"How could it be Walker? My name is Cao Ge. ”
"It should be Cao Ge." Cao Ge said in a panic.
"Ah~"
The brain began to ache again, and Cao Ge squatted down with his head in his hands and screamed in pain.
He clearly remembered that his name was Cao Ge, how could it be that it was Walker.
What the hell is going on, how did he wake up in this place.
The place is extremely quiet, even absolutely silent, without a single sound, as if it were thousands of meters underground.
It's so quiet that if he doesn't take the initiative to make some noise, his ears won't be able to stand the kind of quiet.
………………
In the pitch-black space, Cao Ge sat on a metal slide chair.
It had been a long time since the hibernation pod had malfunctioned and the lights inside had gone out, but Cao Ge still didn't remember why he was here.
In the past period, Cao Ge has traveled to every corner of this space.
He found nothing that would help him judge his surroundings other than seeing a circular hatch that couldn't be opened.
All he knew was that he was in a small steel box, and he didn't know anything about where it was or what it was for.
The dense buttons and LCD screens on the metal table in front of him made him think that he might be in the console of some large laboratory.
Cao Ge held up the glow stick he found in the cabinet where he stored supplies, and carefully looked at the button on the top of the countertop.
Cao Ge tried, but the buttons on it were all out of order, and he didn't know if they were broken or locked.
However, looking at the dust accumulated before, this "computer" should have been here for a long time and no one has used it.
Just like this steel box, there was no one but himself, and Cao Ge didn't see any trace of the activities of the living.
There is only one possibility, the traces have disappeared, this place has really not been visited for a long time, and the unit of this time is probably measured in "years".
Cao Ge may have been alone here for many years.
Cao Ge couldn't get out, no matter how he knocked on the steel plate and the round iron door, the knocking sound was followed by the same dead silence.
Cao Ge was a little scared, and he felt as if he had been buried alive in the ground.
There was a sense of powerlessness, no matter how much he shouted and banged on the wall, there was no response, not even a decent echo.
What the hell was he was in that was a thought in Cao Ge's mind right now, and why he woke up in the hibernation pod of a man named Walker.
Why is he the only one here, and where has everyone else gone?
Is he amnesia?
Is his real name Cao Ge? Or Walker?
He wondered if he had participated in a secret experiment.
Cao Ge felt that he couldn't sit still, he had to move and find a way to save himself, because according to the degree of desolation of this space, he was afraid that no one would come to save him until he died.
And he can't go back to hibernation now, and he won't live for a few days with the food and water in his private locker that he doesn't know if it's expired.
Therefore, there will not be a lot of time left for him to save himself, and even if he does not starve to death for a while, the quiet and dark environment here will be driven crazy in a few days.
Man is a social animal, and a person cannot stay long in absolute silence and darkness.
Cao Ge began to toss the metal console in front of him, constantly searching under the table.
Cao Ge didn't believe that something as important could not have a second backup system.
The button that turned on must be hidden in some invisible corner, and all Cao Ge needed to do was find this switch, and restore the power to this cabin first, if nothing else.
