Section 35.The troubles of happiness
There is no specific posture for meditation.
Standing, sitting, or lying down, as long as it lasts.
Annan chose to sit at first, but after three days of jolting, he felt like he was standing on a shaky deck. And with lying down, it's really easy to fall asleep by meditating when you're tired.
Annan gave up staring at the cobwebs in the corners of the ceiling, and his first meditation ended in failure.
A mixture of cobwebs, money, and secret societies, he had an indescribable dream.
A spider in an apron hung from the ceiling and landed on Annan's chest.
"Little Annan, you live here alone, you have to get rid of bad habits." The spider said softly, tugging at the sheet to cover the leaking feet.
The spider crawled along the mountain-like sheets to the edge of the bed, pulled out the threads of its abdomen, stuck to the edges, and fell between the shoes. After a while, the scattered shoes moved little by little, slowly merging together.
"The spider is old and has no strength to take care of you......"
The panting spider poked its head out of the shoe, then picked out three copper coins from its apron and carefully placed them on the side of the shoe, "This is the spider stolen from a drunkard, don't dislike the lack of money, don't worry about the spider, the spider doesn't eat much......"
Annan, who was watching everything from a third-person perspective, saw that the "self" asleep on the bed slowly woke up.
"Myself" found the spider next to the shoe, startled, muttered where the insect came from, grabbed the shoe, and slapped towards the spider who was showing relief and gentleness-
"No!"
So Annan woke up at dawn.
Soon, the door was slammed, and Tasia, who heard the shouting, was outside the door.
"I'm fine."
Annan sat up, put on his shoes that were scattered under the bed, and opened the door.
Tasia bowed her head into the room, followed by Soruman Copperbeard.
Closing the door, Soruman Copperbeard said to take Annan somewhere in a moment.
"Where are you going?"
The dwarf pointed to his pocket. Annan pulled out the note with the address written on it.
"But Mr. Fast said to go to the address if he is in trouble."
"He didn't say he couldn't look for it if he wasn't in trouble." The female dwarf added weight to Annan, who was still hesitating, "That guy is a warlock. ”
"Okay, I'll get dressed."
Soruman Copperbeard and Tasia, who had searched the room, went out. Annan put on his coat, and when his raised head poked out of the collar, he saw a short-legged spider lying in the dusty cobwebs on the ceiling.
Annan's dark eyes narrowed.
……
A few minutes later, Annan came downstairs. Some of the guests were eating breakfast.
Soruman Copperbeard sat at the table and beckoned to him, with Tasia beside him.
"How's our warlock meditating?"
"Nothing can be perceived......"
This made Annan not in a good mood, and it was difficult to enter a meditative state without the assistance of magical materials...... And the book says that only ancient shamans used such a backward way of meditation.
"I can lend you another amount." When he learned that Annan needed magic materials, Soruman Copperbeard said generously.
Annan accepted Soruman Copperbeard's kindness, and he should be able to repay the money soon.
After breakfast, Andrew Luna asked the men to bring the carriage and by the way acted as a groom to take them to the address on the note.
"Although Luna. It's a deserter...... But he will never betray us. Soruman Copperbeard explained, telling the man, "Let's go to the street where magic materials are sold first. ”
Annan sat in the carriage and found Tasia leaning against the wall, her head bowed and napping.
"You didn't rest, okay?"
"The tavern is noisy."
On the left of Annan's room was Soluman Copperbeard and on the right was Tasia, who helped Annam block out the sound of war in the tavern.
This reminded Annan of the girl in heavy makeup who was lying on the guardrail and greeting him when he went out, claiming to have one-tenth of the elven blood. Annan could tell at a glance that she was talking nonsense - the power of 2 could not be divided into 10.
The carriage drove on the brick road, Tasia was napping, Soruman Copperbeard was counting the money, and Annan was looking out at the streetscape.
As the carriage drove into a long street of unique and strange buildings, Annan saw merchants in gray robes symbolizing the status of wizards' apprentices, peddled strange and exotic goods, magical auras and wonderful runes, carriages with the same family crest, and mercenary groups standing on street corners shouting mages.
Annan felt like Harry Potter breaking into Diagon Alley.
Although both parents died, they did not inherit the inheritance.
The man parked the carriage in front of a magic material shop, and Annan tried to dress himself up as a well-informed person, but the glance that swept around the materials betrayed him.
The clerk didn't think Annan was a lucky civilian because he was wearing a linen coat, and politely asked him what he needed.
"Eagle feathers, fluorescent grass, the naturally faded teeth of the gnolls, the dew that condenses at dawn......"
Annan recited the cheapest materials needed for meditation rituals. The magic materials needed for advanced and advanced meditation rituals are often the mane of a unicorn or the tears of an underage elf...... These sound expensive and precious.
The clerk recorded the materials Annan said, and then calculated the price: "16 gold and 60 silver coins." ”
"16 silver and 60 copper coins?"
"16 gold and 60 silver coins." The clerk said helplessly, "Is the basic meditation ritual right?" That's a month's worth of servings. ”
Now, Annan has a deeper idea of "the caster's expenses".
"Are they fresh?" Tasia asked.
The clerk ignored her, but Annan asked again before saying, "It's all in the best before date." ”
"I'll pay for it, boy."
The beautiful and generous Soruman Copperbeard said in her melodious voice, and took out her heavy purse,
Armed with the magic materials, they continued to the address on the note.
Tasia became much more silent because of the ignorance - the atmosphere of Breez seemed relatively inclusive, and no one pointed a finger at Tasia's appearance, but it was only an illusion.
Humanity's rejection of aliens is deep-rooted.
Coming to the address on the note, a simple wooden house with a sloping roof emerges.
Soruman Copperbeard jumped out of the carriage excitedly, smashed open the door, and shouted to the stunned bearded man:
"Bastard! Don't try to hide from me anymore! ”
Annan blinked, realizing if he was being used as an excuse?
Fortunately, the female dwarf did not forget herself, and asked the warlock to give Annan a warlock codex to record her experience.
Annan accepted his experience, got into the carriage with interest, and returned to the Morrowind Tavern.
Meditation requires a quiet atmosphere. So Annan did not waste expensive magical materials and still insisted on ancient and traditional meditation.
He slept soundly.
……
Early the next morning, Annan took a glass jar containing a short-legged spider and followed Soruman Copperbeard and Tasia back into a carriage and headed to Wincht Manor.
On the way, Annan also prepared gifts for Aunt Susan's family.
The gates of the manor opened, and a carriage slowly drove out, merging and leaving the city.
Annan looked back at Breeze City, wondering if the next time he came back, would he already have a new identity?
