267. Temptation
For the first time, Hades felt the goodness of Macado.
In the face of a man who did not understand psionic powers, but believed in the Empire, the name of Master of the Silent Retreat that Machado threw at him came in handy for the first time.
Machado, you're not a bad person!
Hades blinked and spoke, hoping to speak with Gilliman alone.
Killiman, of course, agreed to this request, and in the countless alternate plans of the Lord of Macurag, this was naturally the case.
Soon, the Ultramarines led the death guards who had followed Hades to the side room to wait.
Hades watched as the people walked away, pondering what was next.
First of all, he couldn't say the key words, and Hades didn't want to repeat the original move of killing the Death Guard in the ditch with one word, although it might have allowed him to stay in the Ultramarine.
Second, he could not persuade him, and he could not convince Gilliman completely in the absence of absolute evidence.
He could have walked away, but Hades was afraid that the wound would continue to contaminate the Ultramarines, which was not what Hades wanted to see.
Hades plans to warn Killiman first, and then prepare to go to Abstu to see what is going on, and if this planet is really that evil, then he will show Killiman a subspace specialty.
Now that the people were gone, Killeman sat across from Hades, sweeping away his previous impassionedness, and with a somewhat curious smile, hoping to learn what the representative of the Fourteenth Legion had suddenly asked to talk to.
Hades said slowly,
"Do you know why I'm here, my lord?"
Killiman was briefly silent for a moment, and Hades knew that the supercomputer's computing power was full,
"In the detection of the Empire, this planet is highly civilized, and a legion cannot recover him very well."
Killeman smiled, as if to ease the embarrassment that followed,
"But if you're referring to why you're here, I think it's my brother, and still won't want to meet with me."
Sort of. That's right, Hades thought.
But Hades didn't let him think that way! Hades had a serious expression and spoke,
"Lord Killiman, your speculation is correct, but it is much more than thatβthe Empire has appointed me Lord of the Silent Order, and this is the function I will assume in the cooperation between the two legions."
Killeman looked slightly startled,
"The Sisters of Silence will also participate in this reconquest?"
During the Great Expedition, if you encounter some special psionic species, the Sisters of Silence will fight with the Legion.
But what Hades wondered was why Killiman would equate him with the Silent Sister!
Hades continued to be serious on the surface,
"If necessary, they will naturally join in this reconquest, Arbustu still needs to be assessed, and the Empire will not relax its vigilance against psionic species at any time."
Kiliman got the card, he was thinking, and then he cautiously threw out his question,
"The people here do use psionic powers, but they have sworn not to use them again, and after I read the truth of the Empire, the queen of Absdu smashed the largest altar in the kingdom with her own hands, and took the oath with her people."
"The army was disbanded, pamphlets propagating the truth of the empire were distributed, and they were indeed actively trying to integrate into the empire."
Hades looked at Killiman,
"Master Killiman, forgive my offense, but. . . What type of army is their army, the army they have disbanded? β
"A small number of companies equipped with heavy vehicles, a large number of light infantry, and an air force that can cover the entire royal capital."
"So."
Hades said slowly,
"With such an army, does the empire need to send two legions?"
Killiman's eyes instantly sharpened, he did think about this problem, but after many reconnaissance by the Ultramarines, they did not find any other hidden troops, and Queen Abstu's explanation for this was-
They are a rebuilt civilization whose previous civilization was lost in civil strife, but that civilization has brought them a relatively stable star field, and Arbus has survived.
After seeing enough evidence, Killeman accepted the explanation.
Killiman opened his mouth, ready to explain to Hades, but Hades spoke first,
"You may not be familiar with psionics, they are good at rhetoric, deception, and concealment, but they are not their real army at all."
"But we didn't find any other troops," Killiman said solemnly, "and the Ultramarines carefully checked every nook and cranny and there were no other suspicious presences. β
"My lord, don't think about the tactics of the psionics with the usual thinking of a legion, they won't be able to win on the same terms as we do."
"Wizards don't need equipment that can be detected, a book, a piece of sacrificial bones, they can burst out with maximum combat power."
Hades said slowly,
"Maybe you should let me try it out, I and the Death Guards are still good at dealing with psykers."
Killeman nodded, in the face of Hades's well-founded request, he naturally couldn't refuse, after all, Hades's admonition was reasonable, and the words of the Lord of the Silent Retreat did arouse Robert Killiman's certain concern,
But Killiman changed his tone again,
"Okay, but I have my requirements too."
"We are now in the critical period of peace negotiations, and without absolute evidence, you must not act to disrupt the lives of civilians, and you must not kill innocents indiscriminately - this is a civilization with a good attitude, even if there are a small number of rebels among them, that is a variable that can be expected."
Killiman had his own agenda, the Lord of Maculag was well aware that his brothers were not very human, and that some prejudice would lead them to do terrible things, and he had already witnessed the atrocities of the Midnight Lords.
He did not allow his brothers, because of some prejudices and clues, to bring unbearable disasters to a civilization.
He accepts and supports reasonable, righteous behavior, and likewise will not allow atrocities.
Hades stood up calmly and saluted,
"Alright, Master Killiman, allow me to consult further with our Legion Commander, but until then, please keep your army vigilant as necessary."
"In the face of psionics, no matter how vigilant you are, you can't be too vigilant."
Then he departed, striding out of the golden parlor.
The dimly lit command room of the Endurance.
Hades silently gave orders, checking the map sent by the Ultramarines, while Motarian spun around, occasionally letting out an expletive.
"This is a realm ruled by psykers! Killiman, doesn't he know what that means?! β
"Calm down, Motarian, we need to do another reconnaissance before we can make a conclusion."
Hades spoke slowly,
"Look where this civilization is rotten, so that the death guards can bestow death on them."
"From the time they sly negotiated peace, I knew that this planet was worth an extinction order!"
"Well, you're a little too extreme, but we'll know later whether this civilization is worth the extreme."
Hades suddenly spoke,
"By the way, Motarian, if you go back to Killiman to negotiate with you, don't be so extreme, or the death guards will not be able to act at that time."
"He doesn't really understand the horrors of psionics, words can't describe them, and he still hopes to treat humans equally."
Hades muttered quietly, though it wasn't bad.
Motarian let out a mocking laugh,
"I will! If a lie could get me to cut off the heads of wizards, I'd be better at playing with language than any wizard! β
Hades clapped his hands and looked at the appointment list, okay,
"Killiman asks us not to alarm the people there too much, and there is no need for the Zero Company to be exposed in one reconnaissance mission, this operation, with a part of the Seventh Company, a part of the Soulless, and me, is enough."
"I'll go too."
Hades glanced at Motarian helplessly,
"Then we'll have to trouble Garo and Vaux for the Legion again."
"That was one of their duties."
