284. A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye
Unexpectedly, the Death Guard displays an almost brutal indifference.
Horus looked out of the porthole, and in the distance, the sleek swarms of the Death Guard floated silently, keeping their distance from the Midnight Lord, like wolves far behind the flock.
They took on a well-organized queue, a kind of echo of the Midnight Lord's apparently chaotic ship group.
Remembering the previous scene, Horus exhaled deeply, again.
He tried to sort out some thoughts from the mess, but strong emotions always prevented him from going back to the day, he heard Kotz's screams, he heard Motarion's roar, the smell of blood, screaming the flight attendants fleeing.
Then there was a Midnight Lord, Sevita, whom Horus knew, and there he stood, his armor covered with blood, silent and trembling in front of him.
Horus took another deep breath and lowered his head, he must have lost his temper by then, and the wolf herder could only remember the cries of his brothers, one furious, the other hoarse.
Then Horus's memory shuddered, and then everything fell silent.
The empty hallway was silent again, and Horus could hear the dripping of the cabin's apparatus, and he heard a muffled sound of people falling, or kneeling, bones hitting the ground.
After a short momentβ
The terrifying, long laughter, accompanied by the screams resounded, like the screams of the dead crawling out of their graves.
Horus watched, he looked at the room at the end of the corridor, and sound and fear accompanied by light, spilling from there, spilling over the carpet of the corridor.
He clenched his saber tightly, he was eager to see what was going on, but the high pressure in the air told him that one more step further would make him reach the forbidden zone of life.
He just stood there helplessly, waiting, waitingβ
When the dreaded beast dragged its tail back to the room, the wolf herder rushed out as soon as possible.
He rushed over, he saw blood, he saw the remains of armor scattered all over the place, he saw what he saw.
Horus paused for a moment.
He seemed to understand, no, even sympathize with Russ anymore.
Cannibalism, swords against each other, this. It's unimaginable that the murderous intent burst out of their eyes. No. No. Just a little bit. It's just a little bit! If he's a millisecond late! No, no, no, no!
Even if Horus did not allow his mind to slide down into the abyss, in the dim corner of the wolf god's heart, a possibility was opened.
Before that, this lock was covered by morality, by family affection, by all kinds of justice and light, he never thought about it, and never thought about it.
He still didn't think about it, but he had witnessed that it meant some kind of beginning, a new beginning, and now, even the wolf shepherd himself would not be aware of it.
He's just going to be overwhelmed by the bad status quo.
The Star Whisper for instructions from Terra has been sent, but the transmission of the message and the movement of ships will still take time, and the Wolf Shepherd does not believe that they can receive aid from the Empire in a short period of time.
There is no doubt that Konrad Coetzes, this brother of his, he needs to be judged, or he will be stripped from his legion?
Horus could not decide the severity of the punishment, he only knew that this was not the first time, and that Coates had quarreled with many of his brothers, Dorne, Killiman, Magnus. Did they fight? Or is it just a quarrel and a conflict? Horus didn't know the details.
But this time - it's clear that Coetzes crossed the line.
The Lord of the Night has crossed the line, and Horus doesn't know what the hell Koz is doing, what the hell is he doing? But his actions have thoroughly angered the Lord of Death, and Horus knows that Motarian will make Koz pay.
The wolf wrangler was troubled, he was not a ruthless lion after all, or a Gorgon banshee known only for efficiency and results, and to some extent, he still had the necessary affection for some of his brothers.
As of now, both the Death Guard and the Midnight Lord have communicated with Horus individually - but neither is a Legionnaire.
Garo, the Death Guard, calmly told Horus that due to the personal circumstances of the Legion Commander, the Death Guard could not immediately participate in this joint operation.
At the same time, he wants the Shadowmoon Wolves and the Death Guards to surround the Midnight Lord's ships to [prevent them from acting irrationally again].
This was a reasonable demand, and Horus naturally agreed.
At the other end, Sevita represents the Midnight Lord with a blank face, unilaterally apologizing to the Shadowmoon Wolf and the Death Guard.
He also said that the Legion Commander was not in good shape and was now unable to respond to news from the outside world.
Both sides said they needed time to ease, so Horus was back in the hallway, and there was nothing he could do
The wolf shepherd god began to wait in despair, like a beast trapped in place, constantly spinning in circles.
ββββββββββββββ
The Death Guard fell silent again.
The dimly lit cabin, the silent space, makes you drowsy.
Motarian sat in the dark, his scarred armor, blood still not wiped away.
Without saying a word, he refused any death guards who came forward to try to communicate and treat him.
Motarian sat in the dark for a day and a night, facing the door of the treatment room, Death holding his scythe, silent.
The next day, when the apothecary, who had been treating him all day, opened the door, he saw only the dried blood on his seat, and the Lord of Death himself had long since left.
On the third day, Motarian emerged from the apothecary, breathing heavily and wheezing under the mask of the Lord of Death, unable to see his eyes under the shadow of his hood.
He first found Vaux and gave his orders.
Next, he went to Hades' office.
The previously bustling office was terrifyingly deserted, and Motarian silently glanced at the food Hades had placed on the table, then looked away.
The Lord of Death opened Hades's cabinet with ease, he took out the necessary documents, sat down in Hades' place, and began to change and sign.
Then he pulled out the blank sheet of paper and drafted the document.
Motarian quickly completed his work, though piled up at the feet of the Lord of Death, the pile of papers reaching his knees as high as he was indicative of the sheer volume of the work.
Vaux entered, and the son of Barbaros silently and responsibly put away the papers that Motarian had signed.
Motarian sighed.
He looked up from this position and stared at the huge carpet of makurag, the silly blue blinding and bright.
Motarian skillfully pulled out a faint blue-and-white letter from Hades' treasured paper, the address of which was already written.
He sneered self-deprecatingly, and then began to write letters for his brother Killiman.
Some necessary entrustment some. Stupid hope, but if Hades believes in Gilliman so much, then he can too
"Your Excellency,"
Volks' silence was finally broken,
"Do you really want to do that?"
Motarian's hand as he wrote the letter paused, and a small black dot peeked out at the end of the letter.
You cannot fall. γ
He put it succinctly,
Vaux seemed to shake a little, but it might have been an illusion, as he was still standing firmly in front of Motarian, holding the document that Motarian had signed.
He watched his father quietly and sat down in front of him to work.
Soon, Motarian finished writing.
But he still didn't seem to feel safe, and the Lord of Death pondered for a moment, recalling the brothers he had come into contact with.
Eventually, he picked Horus, and he began to write, conceal, distort, deceive, and reveal his true feelings, all the words that would ensure that the Death Guard would be helped after that.
He completed both letters, at a speed he hadn't even expected.
Now, two letters are neatly laid out on the table, one in blue and one in white and gold.
All right.
Motarian thought, done, can go.
He got up and left without a hint of nostalgia, and Vaux received his instructions and followed him away.
Among them went to the armory, where the warriors that Mortarian had ordered Vaux to prepare were waiting for them, and there were not many of themβ
They don't need a lot of people, just one Motarian, it's enough.
They walked through the dark corridors towards the harbor, where the Fourth Knight was already waiting by the side of the Stoic, the Knight of the Grey Horse, a symbol of death, quietly kneeling on the side of the ship, waiting for his master.
Motarian paused, silently looking ahead, the light of the sea of stars pouring in from the beginning of the corridor, illuminating one side of the darkness and faintly outlining the outline of the armor.
[Gara, get out of here.] γ
He said.
There Garo knelt on one knee, the battle-hardened warrior, he knelt, without a helmet, and his heavy bladeless sword lay flat in front of him.
"Think again, Legionnaire."
Garo lowered his head, and the combat company commander rarely knelt.
[Not anymore,]
Motarian said irritably,
[You are now the acting Legion Commander, Garo, if Hades doesn't wake up, then it's you.] γ
Garo still had his head bowed, not a trace of movement,
"That's not realistic, my lord."
Garo pursed his chapped mouth,
"Please at least consider the unconscious commander, Lord Hades will not be happy to see this."
As soon as Galo's words fell, Motarian let out a dying man's gasp, and he was laughing,
I've thought about it, Garo. γ
He said softly and sarcastically,
Otherwise, now you will see a sea of stars caught in flames. γ
The Lord of Death paused, and continued to speak in a voice that he rarely appeared, almost gentle,
[Garo, you have done a good job, which is why we chose you, you can take on a legion, no matter what the legion shapes you. γ
[I appreciate that, I appreciate you very much, Garo. γ
Now, get out of here, Garo. γ
The Lord of Death watched with satisfaction as Garo moved, and the veteran stood up and picked up the heavy sword lying on the groundβ
Then he raised his sword,
Facing Motarian.
"Forgive me for being disrespectful, father."
This was the first time Garo had called Father Motarian.
The Lord of Death laughed, the laughter under the gas mask hoarse and low,
[Courage enough, Garo, I appreciate that.] γ
What do you want? In addition to stopping me, I commend you for your courage. γ
Garo spoke calmly,
"Can you be a qualified legion commander?"
Motarian's laughter instantly cooled, and he stared at Garo deadly, his breathing sharper and sharper,
And Garo still stared calmly at his genetic father, the sword in his hand trembling in the slightest.
But Motarian finally looked away from him.
[I will, I will.] γ
The Lord of Death whispered, and then his voice turned high again,
[Volks.] γ
He said.
Vaux stepped out of Motarian's side and raised his scythe.
The first company commander's combat skills were not as good as those of the combat company commander, and in the past years of Vaux, his mastery of combat skills has been accompanied by Galo's beatings.
Until now, Vaux has not defeated Garo in the real sense of the word.
In the entire Death Guard, except for the original body, there is only one person who can defeat Garo.
But Vaux was not afraid, the man who used to follow Hades every day, or Garo as a recruit, had already honed his sharpness in the death guard.
"Disrespectful, Garo-senpai."
Sparks of scythe and heavy sword clashed in the darkness, and Garo let out an angry roar.
Garrow was entangled in Vaux, and Motarian and his party were unhindered, and they boarded the ship, quietly listening to the roar of the engines.
Motarian opens the comms.
ββββββββββββ
Horus receives an urgent communication from the Death Guard.
The wolf shepherd, who had not had a good rest for several days, hurriedly turned on the communication, and Motarian's pale face instantly appeared from the stinging radio waves.
"Are you alright, my brother?"
Motarian's gaze shifted to the side dryly, and he did not answer Horus's question, but spoke to himself,
"I need to go to the Nightfall to fix some. Personal vendettas. β
Horus was visibly stuck,
"Now? We can wait for the people of the Empire to arrive, and they will make a proper decision for this unfortunate event. β
"I swear to you that Conrad Coz will be punished."
Horus accentuated his tone, and he stretched out his two hands, trying to convince Motarian,
"Konrad Coz, he's going to be punished as he deserves, he's going to be punished severely, you don't have to go in person. Go talk to him. β
Motarian shook his head,
"To the criminals,"
He said softly,
"The cruelest and most horrific punishment must come from the victim's closest relatives and best friends."
"He has sinned, and I am his punishment."
Motarian stared at Horus, saying the craziest things, but there was a calm dead silence in his eyes,
"I'm going to let him taste despair, taste pain, taste . Fear. β
"I want him to feel the pain he has caused me a thousand times more and return it to him."
Calmly, like the words spoken by a corpse, the words sounded hoarsely, speaking the eternal truth in human historyβ
"A tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye."
Horus's anxious voice rang out from the airwaves,
"But how do you get there? The Midnight Lord's ship group is still on alert, and they won't allow it-"
"I've arrived."
Motarian said calmly.
Horus's eyes widened suddenly, and he looked at the Bird Servant, and a small dot marked as "Death Guard" appeared in the [Midnight Lord] cluster.
"Horus, my brother, this is just a notice."
Motarian said,
"If the Midnight Lord's fleet tries to escape, or forcibly jumps the Nightfall, help me keep them under control, and the Death Guard will assist you."
"And,"
Motari settled,
"Horus, you are a good man, you are the first brother I have warmly welcomed since I entered this empire, but because of me. I'm sorry. β
"In you, for the first time, I saw the possibility of brotherhood."
"It's none of your fault, you did your best to help us, but-"
"There are always people who don't need salvation."
Communication was forcibly cut off, and Horus collapsed in his chair with a total of weakness.
He silently covered his eyes.
[Don't blame yourself.] Motarian's last words still rang in his ears.
ββββββββββ
Mortarian grimaced and silently boarded the Nightfall.
The measly few Midnight Lords stood in front of the harbor to welcome, or rather warn them.
Motarian could recognize that it was the Black Guard.
"Hello, sir."
Sevita stood in front of him, his helmet with it, the wings of the night bat spread high beside his helmet.
"If you'd like to speak with Master Coetzes, I'll show you the way."
[Now lead the way.] γ
Motarian said,
[Don't play tricks, little bat. γ
[Keep quiet, and then my wrath, the wrath of the Death Guard, will not befall anyone else. γ
He said loudly, making sure the hidden ones could be heard.
The Midnight Lords could naturally detect that the Fourth Knight was already filled with explosives, enough explosives.
As long as it is detonated at a key point, it can take away the entire amount of explosives of the Queen of Glory.
The special model and engine of the Fourth Knight also ensure that it can accelerate to the extreme in a short period of time, which is the knight who smashed through the main nest of Garaspa.
Sevita calmly led him into the dark hallway,
"We sincerely hope that you will just talk to your father, my lord, and this is also the will of our father."
"The Nightfall has been loaded with enough explosives, and the lead is my father's life."
Motarian chuckled,
[But if you let me in, little bat, it means that you think I can't beat him.] γ
Sevita did not answer Motarian.
The smell of blood grew stronger, and the darkness followed them, and Motarian felt the malice in the darkness.
Cowards, all cowards.
Only the weak will hide in the darkness, and by the darkness they will not dare to stand up and expose themselves to the enemy.
They stopped in a dark, empty hall, and Motarian could see the massive instruments of torture placed haphazardly, the faint light shining on the metal spikes.
There was a hissing sound in the darkness,
Mortarian calmly reached for the alien pistol Dark Lantern at his waist.
Sevita spoke without humility or arrogance,
"My lord, I'm stillβ"
The next moment, the fiery and bright light of the dark lamp pierced through Sevita's chest.
The bright light illuminated Sevita's incredulous figure, and the desperate expression on Koz's faceβ
Motarian burst out laughing.
It's gone today! It's a three-in-one chapter! Today it's more 8k!
