Chapter 4 Mr. Love, you are not eligible
"Love, Moen, just received an offer from Hogwarts." Love reported his name.
"Where's your parents?" Hagrid looked around and found no one who looked to be Love's parents.
"My dad is very busy and doesn't usually see him, and as for my mom, I haven't seen her since I was born." Love told the truth, but Hagrid was silenced.
To Hagrid's ears, Love was clearly a child who had lost his mother and was then abandoned by his father.
Otherwise, why would a person come to Diagon Alley? Is it reasonable to be exposed to such a big thing in the wizarding world, and to be a parent who doesn't care?
There was a hint of sympathy in Hagrid's eyes as he looked at Love, and he saw his own shadow in Loveβno, Love was worse than he was. Although Hagrid had never seen his mother since he was a child, he was at least accompanied by his father until he was twelve, unlike the child in front of him, who even went to Diagon Alley for the first time in his life.
Contrary to his foul-hearted appearance, Hagrid is actually a kind-hearted man. Looking at Love, who was alone, he suddenly wanted to do something for this child, such as taking him to buy all the necessary supplies.
Diagon Alley is not a completely safe place, you know, Diagon Alley and the mixed Tumbledown Alley are actually connected, and there is no level set by the Ministry of Magic where the two are connected. In other words, as long as the dark wizards in Tumbledown Alley cover their identities a little, they can swagger to Diagon Alley to shop. So Hagrid couldn't let a little kid run around here.
"You didn't know the way when you first came here, did you? Shall I show you around? Hagrid also knew that his appearance was not pleasing, so he asked tentatively.
Love was overjoyed to hear Hagrid say this, and nodded without thinking about it: "That's great, but Mr. Ruber, will this delay your business?" β
"Oh, what can I do, I'm just here...... Wander around, it's you, don't call me Mr. Ruber, just call me Hagrid. With a wave of his hand, Hagrid almost leaked his true purpose for coming to Diagon Alley, but fortunately, the words came to his lips and quickly fooled him.
Hagrid enjoys raising all kinds of magical animals, many of which are not very legal. He came here today to buy some dog food and health care medicine for a three-headed dog he raised, and by the way, to see if he could find some "treasures" from Tumbledown Alley.
Love noticed the change in Hagrid's tone, and he felt that Hagrid had something to hide from him, but he wasn't going to dig any further, because who didn't have a secret?
Perhaps because of his weak heart, Hagrid immediately diverted the topic: "You shouldn't have withdrawn the money yet, right?" Let's go, I'll accompany you to Gringotts. β
After saying that, without Love's words, Hagrid grabbed Love's arm and led him in the direction of Gringotts.
"Gringotts is the bank of the wizarding world, and the only bank that belongs to the elves, and you need to be vigilant when dealing with them, as they are a bunch of insatiable guys." When Hagrid went to Gringotts, he didn't forget to give Love all kinds of basic information about the wizarding world.
Soon, they were in front of a tall and imposing white building.
"This is Gringotts." Hagrid pointed to the building and led Love up the white stone steps to a bronze gate. Standing by the door stood a creature dressed in a scarlet and gold uniform, a head and a half shorter than Love, and looking shrewd and capable. After passing through the bronze door, there is a silver door with a few lines of poetry engraved on it.
"Never think about robbing a bank unless you're crazy." Hagrid said.
Then the two elves led them into a tall marble hall, where a hundred or so elves sat on high stools behind a long row of counters and were busy with their work, some weighing coins on copper scales, some examining precious stones, and some registering something in the ledger.
Hagrid brought Love to an idle elf, knocked on the counter, then took two steps back and left the matter to Love.
"Good morning, I'm a new Hogwarts student and I'm here to exchange money." Love said seriously.
Hearing that Love had come to exchange money, the smile on the elf's face suddenly fell.
"Ah, I'm here for money......" It reluctantly pulled out a slip and handed it to Love, "Fill this out, and I need to see your acceptance letter." β
The half-dead, as if Love owed it a large sum of money, gave Love a sense of familiarity that he had not seen for a long time. He quickly filled out the form, the name and age in front of him were fine, and when he saw the amount of exchange, Love blinked.
Five pounds to exchange for a gold Galleon? That's too profitable, right? When he passed by those shops before, he noticed that the purchasing power of gold galleons was quite strong, far exceeding the purchasing power of pounds, and the focus of his future life was on the wizarding world, so he must exchange as many gold galleons as possible, and the more the better.
So Love, after estimating the amount of pounds he had, filled the list with the words 1,000 Galleons.
After filling out the list, Love sent the list back along with the acceptance letter, and the fairy took the list nonchalantly and glanced at it.
"Are you dreaming?" After seeing the eye-catching thousand on the list, the elf's eyes bulged out, and it angrily threw the list on the counter, angrily telling Love that the pound to the Galleon was a benefit provided by the Ministry of Magic to young wizards from Muggle families, and there were limits and status restrictions. Five pounds to one Galleon, Gringotts is actually losing money, of course, there is a limit, if there is no limit to the exchange, Gringotts would have been run on and bankrupt.
"The annual exchange limit isβ" The elf glanced at Hagrid behind Love, and saw that he was glaring at him with those black beetle-like eyes, before he said stupidly, "Twenty Galleons." β
What Love didn't know was that if Hagrid wasn't there, he would definitely be stabbed by the goblin in front of him. The cunning goblin will never take the initiative to account for the maximum amount of currency that the Ministry of Magic grants to the little wizard of the hemp seed every year, and he can deduct a little bit is a little bit.
"Well," seeing that the way to fortune was blocked, Love could only stop, "then twenty Galleons." β
"Hmm." The fairy nodded, took out a notebook from the counter under him, and carefully checked the information on it. As it watched, its eyes sharpened.
Soon, it closed the notebook and threw Love's slip back along with the acceptance letter.
"You are not eligible for redemption." The fairy said triumphantly, as if it had seen through Love's little trick.
"Why?" Love asked in surprise.
"You're not a wizard from a Muggle family!" The goblin's eyes were full of contempt: You guys, you guys think about getting benefits from Gringotts every day, and now I've caught you!
Ralph:?!
