More than 360 years ago, Xu Xiake, a famous traveler in the Ming Dynasty, once went to Wanfeng Forest and exclaimed: "There are so many peaks in the world, but only here are the peaks into forests." According to the morphology of the peak forest, it is divided into five types: array peak forest, sword peak forest, group dragon peak forest, Luohan peak forest, and stacked hat peak forest. Each type has its own characteristics, which are both independent and complement other types of peaks and forests to form a majestic and vast landscape. Wanfeng Forest Tourist Scenic Area has successively won the titles of "National Key Scenic Area" and "China's Most Beautiful Five Peak Forests".

When you go to Wanfeng Forest, you can't fail to see the sinkhole, just like a big flying saucer landing on the earth and smashing a pit. There is no accurate data on how many sinkholes there are in the peak forest, among which the sinkholes such as Yugulu, Yangping, Hanging Well Dam, and Fa Li are the most typical. The Yugulu sinkhole, which is 40 kilometers northeast of Xingyi City, is called the first of the sinkholes discovered in China by geological experts. The bottom is flat, trumpet-shaped, with a height difference of 600 meters, surrounded by strange peaks.

The houses of the 126 families living around the bottom of the pit and some of the tools for production and life are made of stone, such as stone foundations, stone walls, stone benches, stone roads, and stone tools. There is a spring in the east of the sinkhole, which not only meets the drinking needs of people and livestock in the pit village, but also irrigates nearly 20 hectares of paddy fields; There is a sinkhole on the west side, which removes the domestic water.

There are two very peculiar springs in the peak forest around Pogang. In the dense forest of ancient trees and red beans (acacia beans) between Kinxiu Peak and Samurai Peak, the locals call it "Divine Water", "Strange Water", and "Flower Water", and some people jokingly call it "Male Spring" and "Female Spring". The two springs each flow out of a crack in the natural stone, and the two waters are communicated by a "husband and wife tape". The female spring gushes every 4-6 minutes, the water surface rises by 3-5 cm, and then it meets the male spring and flows forward for a few minutes.

When the female fountain descends, the male fountain flows backwards to the female fountain for a few minutes. The two springs seem to be husband and wife, natural and tacit, interdependent, intimate, and very interesting. The water is as clear as a mirror, and the seasons do not change much.

Next to the village of Rubbing Rock, which is separated from the "geyser" by a mountain, there is a "Sun Spring". The spring water flows from the horizontal rocks in the middle of the hillside in an east-west direction, and is sweet and delicious.

Every spring and autumn, especially in the dry spring, when the sun rises and shines near the well, a large spring water flows out, which can be used by more than 20 households to drink. In the evening, when the sun sets and the well is not dry, the spring water stops, and by dawn the next day, the mud where the water comes out has dried up and cracked. After the sun rises in the east, it begins a second cycle.

According to the local people, the use of "Sun Spring" water to make tofu and boiled wine is more than the output of ordinary well water, and the mystery needs to be studied and explained by experts.

The plants that grow in the Manfeng Forest are also very special. Lush Xingyi cycads can be seen at an altitude of about 800-1200 meters along the Nanpan River and Maling River, such as Putong, Yangping, Jingkou, Qili, Canggeng, Wushe, and Crooked Dye.

It is a new species of cycad discovered in 1981, the pinnate compound leaves are cool to the legendary "phoenix tail", the female flowers that bloom at the top of the stem are stacked into a flat lotus shape, which looks like a peony flower from a distance, and is headed by the local people as "mountain pineapple", "anchovy" or "Guanyin lotus" and so on.

Cycads are one of the oldest seed plants on the earth, which is of great significance for the study of the origin and evolution of seed plants, the genera and species of seed plants, and the evolution of paleoclimate.
