Chapter 100: The Insight of Xia Liqiong (2)
Ancient medicine was not developed, if someone was infected with Gu poison, it was usually treated with two methods: one was to take herbal medicine,
Zhou Li called this herb Jiacao (see Shu's note), one is to pray to the gods, ask the gods to send down medicine, the historical records have "Qin Degong as a shrine, four gates of the dog yi, in order to prevent the Gu disaster." (See Feng Zen Book).
The Book of the Later Han Dynasty says: In the midsummer month, a beige rope was used to connect the meat vegetables and the mimu together to extinguish the Gu poison, and a peach tree was hung on the gate to ward off evil spirits (see Etiquette Chronicles). The Compendium of Materia Medica cites the ancient prescription for curing strange poisons, which is to collect many poisonous insects to make Gu on May 5 every year, and this kind of Gu is mainly used to treat evil sores, but later someone used this kind of Gu to harm people.
At noon on the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, the folk also have the behavior of "gathering five poisons" and drinking realgar wine and rubbing realgar wine on the neck, which is intended to prevent sores. Pills for curing Gu In the countryside of Liyang County, Jiangsu Province, there were often people who fell for Gu in the early years. There is a monk in the local Zhulin Temple who can cure the nameless poison, and makes a pill to treat Gu poison, and the price of a pill is a silk horse, which cures many Gu patients.
The Gu chaos of the Sui Palace, the court of the Sui Dynasty also had an invisible Gu chaos. Sui Dynasty general Dugu Hui's home, there is a girl named Xu Ani, has the habit of worshipping cat ghosts, every night in the middle of the night, she secretly gets up, prepares offerings and burns incense to worship the cat ghosts, (the child belongs to the mouse, the child worships the cat, implying that the rat sacrifices the cat), the more she worships, the more spiritual, the cat ghost often moves other people's belongings to her.
When Dugu Wai was not an official, he was idle at home and had a habit of drinking, and his wife refused to give money to buy wine, so Dugu Wai had to ask Xu Ani for wine. Arnie replied, "There is no money to buy alcohol." Dugu said: "Why don't you ask the cat ghost to go to Yue Gong's house to get money to buy wine?" Ani had to pray secretly, and in less than an hour, the money for buying wine was delivered, and Dugu Yu kept asking Ani to take money from the cat ghost to buy wine.
After Dugu became an official because of his relatives, one day he said to Xu Ani in the garden: "You called the cat ghost to say to Queen Dugu (Dugu's half-sister): My family has no money, please ask the queen to give me money often." Ani prayed to the cat ghost according to his words, and the cat ghost really went to the Sui Palace and fetched things from Queen Dugu.
Xu Ani once arranged a table in an empty room in the palace, and placed a pot of fragrant porridge and a spoon on the table, and knocked the porridge basin with the spoon and said, "Miss Mao, come and eat porridge." But you can't live in the palace. She prostrated herself and prayed, and after a long time her face turned pale, and her limbs seemed to be led by a ghost, and she said, "The cat ghost has arrived." This matter was referred to Emperor Wen of Sui (589-604); Emperor Wen said: This is a kind of monster, ordered Xu Ani to be driven away, and soon Dugu Hui was executed, and his younger brother begged Emperor Wen to remove the official as a concubine, and the cat ghost also disappeared (see Sui Shu Dugu Hui Biography).
In the Song Dynasty, the people who controlled the release of Gu and the people who released Gu to harm others often spread to the imperial court in criminal cases. In the eighth year of Song Renzong's Qingli (1048 AD), Renzong looked through the criminal case of the imperial court on Fujian Road (Province) one day, and found that people often let Gu harm people, and Renzong was very sad. Again in criminal cases. Renzong informed the close officials that Lin Shiyuan's prescription for curing Gu could be handed over to the imperial physician in the palace for review, and together with the secret prescription for curing Gu collected by the imperial doctors, it would be compiled into a compilation, printed as a special book, distributed to various roads, and forwarded to the people in various places for use (see Volume 49 of the Renewal of the Zhitong Jian).
The Song Dynasty was very strict with the management of people who had a history of releasing Gu and raising Gu. In the second year of Taizu Qiande (964 AD), he ordered that 326 families of Gu cultivators in Yongzhou (Lingling County, Hunan Province) be moved to the local poor countryside and that they were not allowed to enter the city (ibid., vol. 4). In addition to the different types of Gu pills that occurred in the Ming Dynasty, there was also a certain period of time. If a person who is in the Gu poison is in a certain period of time, the Gu poison will attack, and after the attack, there is an antidote that can be lifted, and if it exceeds a certain period, there is no cure.
Ming Yingzong orthodoxy (AD 1436-1449), Wujiang County, Jiangsu Province businessman Zhou Li from a young age in foreign business, one year to Guangxi Province Si'en Mansion, accidentally met a middle-aged widow surnamed Chen, after the matchmaker said together, Zhou Li agreed to enter the Chen family as a husband, since then he settled in the local area, soon gave birth to a son, time flies, a flash is more than 20 years, his son is also 16 years old. After people reach middle age, when they think of what happened when they were young, they will also have the idea of returning to their roots, his wife couldn't persuade him, so he had to let him go, and asked his son to go back to his hometown in Wujiang with his father to take a look, Chen put a Gu to Zhou Li, and secretly told his son: "Your father is willing to come back, so he will solve the Gu for him." Zhou Li's father and son returned to their hometown of Wujiang, less than a year later, Zhou Li's Gu attack, he had to drink a bucket of water every day, his stomach was as big as a bucket, and his son said to his father: "Dad! Let's go back to Guangxi! "I miss your mother too, but I can't walk because of this strange disease!" "Dad, I'll cure your disease." "You're not a doctor, how can you heal?" His son followed the method his mother taught him to cure his father's Gu disease, and Zhou Li vomited a live crucian carp in his stomach, and this crucian carp was the Gu that his wife had given him.
The legendary grass ghost woman has red eyes, just like suffering from pink eye, and it is said that there is always a lot of eye feces in the corners of her eyes, which sounds like some very dirty women, and people dare not approach. Because of such a dirty woman, who wants to approach her? So it's mysterious. The grass ghost woman is all women, passed down from generation to generation, from ancient times to today, and can only be heard, and it is impossible to see it again. Some people say that this is when the matriarchal society dissolved, it was handed down by the witches of the time, as a mysterious and unpredictable technique to maintain women's love, dignity and even life, which sounds very reasonable, but what the truth looks like, who knows?
Witches should have been very powerful in that era, so where did their magic skills come from? At that time, people's understanding of the natural world, the medicines and animals to be used by the grass ghost women of the future generations, was it as clever as the legend?
As men hunt more and more, the matrilineal society has disintegrated, and men take their prey to neighboring villages or other tribes to raise second wives, what can the wife of the family do? I had to borrow the witch's spell and pass it down from generation to generation, and it was as much as I could, which was regarded as a last struggle for monogamy. As for the later evolution of the grass ghost into a different kind of witchcraft, it is a genetic mutation in the process of development.
When I was a child, I often heard people say that there is a kind of "sticky medicine" in the countryside, which is used by women, and if it is put on any man, the man will be desperate for the woman who puts the medicine all his life. It is also said that there is a mysterious place in this "sticky medicine", which can be controlled by women, and the range of men's travel is stipulated. There are also gentler ones, who are out of the five miles, and they especially think about this woman who put the medicine, and immediately rush back until they see this woman. The miracle of this medicine raises the female status of the weaker party in love to the level of God, which inevitably reminds people of what modern people say about husbands: husbands and husbands are husbands within one zhang, and they can't control beyond one zhang. A zhang away, about the outside of the house, when the man comes out of the room, he is not his own man. Modern urban women, if there is a "sticky drug" to help, how many second wives will be reduced in the villa?
The method of applying Gu is mostly to put it in food. Gu girl Shi Gu is mostly placed in meals, "Chiya": "Gu Cheng is put in the food first, and the flavor increases a hundred times", and it is mostly placed on the first piece of food. Some of the lower Gu are the worms themselves, some are the feces of the worms, and some are saliva foam. Sometimes Gu can also be applied without food.
Chancre Gu, also known as "putting eggs", "putting chancre", and "putting bees", is popular among the folk in Guangdong and Guangxi. The preparation method is to catch centipedes, small snakes, worms, ants, poisonous bees, cicadas, earthworms, etc. during the Dragon Boat Festival and add hair, dry them and grind them into powder, and enshrine them in front of the statue of the plague god. Loach Gu is to soak loaches with Gu powder and bamboo leaves to eat with people and poison them. As for the stone Gu and the slice Gu, they are all made of Gu medicine, and they are harmed by putting them in the middle of the road, and it is said that they can enter the human body and cause evil diseases.
These are the legends about Gu that Xia Liqiong knows!
