Chapter Eighty-Seven: A Fair Contest
The galloping arrow looked more like a warning, aiming not at anyone here, but at the ground where Rhaenys was about to take the next step.
"Rhaenys, who allowed you to bring strangers to our island?"
A woman dressed in some kind of animal fur and some improvised fabric, covering only key parts of her body, stepped out of the forest ahead.
She carries a longbow behind her back and a giant axe behind her back, and looks a little similar to Rhaenys, but her stature and height are significantly larger than Rhaenys.
Obviously, this woman, who is highly similar to Rhaenys in every way, is basically the "eldest sister" in her mouth, if nothing else.
"Sister, they're here to help us," Rhaenys, as if she was used to it, turned her head and said, "Everyone, please allow me to introduce you, she is my eldest sister Renina." β
"Nice to meet you," Ryan nodded forward, "My name is Ryan, and they'reβ"
"I don't care what your name is," Renina interrupted in a deep voice, "and the only thing I want from you right now is to get out of this place right away. β
With that, Renena raised her longbow and aimed it at Renyss, "Looks like you've become weak, my sister." Living in Porter Town all year round has made you not only dress and speak more and more like them, but even your personality has become more and more similar. Listen to what you just said, do you want to be like Merlot and the others? Unite the so-called mercenaries! β
"But they're not mercenaries," Rhaenys tried to explain, "theyβ"
"I don't care at all what they've done," Renina tugged at the bowstring, "Now, do as I say!" Get them out of here, and then ask me to forgive you for the wrongs you've made. β
"But, sister, we can't go on like this!" Hearing this, Rhaenys couldn't hold back any longer, only to see her take a step forward without fear, and said loudly, "You know, the recent war between our tribe and Merlot and her tribe has resulted in the death of many sisters, if it continues like this......"
"The Chaos Sea, the kingdom of Tampas, the great god of battle, will always protect these sisters who died in battle," Renina said aloud, "and when they die in battle, they will also be buried there as gods." β
"But that won't help us win this war!" Rhaenys gritted her teeth and plucked up her courage and said, "Tampas, the god of battle, never takes sides, he will-"
"Are you questioning the Great God of Battle!"
Renina angrily pulled the bowstring, and at that moment, Ryan took a step forward.
"I don't think there's anything wrong with what Rhaenys just said."
Tampas, the god of battle, is a chaotic neutral deity.
When faced with war, he has his own set of ways to win.
When there is no benefit, they do not help each other; When there is a benefit, bet on both sides; When there is only one side to choose bet on, who wins Tampas helps whom.
In addition to this, Rhaenys was not only telling the truth, but in fact it was the norm for most of the gods in the continent of Anovara at the moment.
Before the fall of the gods to the mortal world, the main source of power of the gods came from the fact that they had little to do with the believers, so except for the good gods and some neutral gods, most of the gods rarely intervened in the affairs of the main material plane at this stage.
However, Ryan's words obviously angered Renina, who angrily warned Ryan not to meddle and that this was not the place for them to come, while Ryan said that coming to this island was originally part of his plan, and that it was impossible to change his plans casually because of a simple matter.
"Times have changed, Renina, and this is not the time you used to live in isolation on the island for the rest of your life," Ryan wrote with a pretended understatement, "Rhaenys realizes this, and I think her mother has realized thisβbecause if she were standing here now, I think we could speak in a more gentle way now." So why is it that only you don't realize it, or pretend not to see it? β
Renina's face became a little more ugly than just now, and it took a long time before she said one by one: "This island is not as simple as you think, if you want to go back with us, you need to prove your strength to me!" β
"Sister!"
"Listen, Rhaenys," Rhaenina glared at Rhaenys, sternly, "I'm not talking to you. β
"It's all right, Rhaenys, if your sister wants that, just do as she says," Ryan said, "but I don't know how you want me to 'prove' it to you?" β
"Regardless of your other qualities, at least I like your directness, outsider," Renina put away her longbow, "Since you're the so-called 'helper' that my sister hired, and you're a ranger, you might as well prove it to me in the 'ranger' way." β
After speaking, Rhaenys pointed back to the forest behind her, "This is where we usually live, and you should be no stranger to this place as a ranger. β
"Then we'll use 'hunting' as proof," Reina said confidently, "and whoever can hunt more prey in an hour will win." As for the prey, it is limited to 'deer', what do you think? β
"Limiting the type of prey is a great way to test the hunting skills of a 'hunter,'" Ryan laughs, "and I don't know if you have such a custom, but I have a habit when hunting - I don't hunt pregnant and juvenile prey. β
"We don't have such a habit, but since you said it, let's follow your habits," Renina said indifferently, "and you're an outsider, and you're certainly not as familiar with the environment as I am, so if we hunt the same amount in an hour, I will lose." β
Renina is obviously a very pure and well-dressed Amazon female warrior, and out of respect for the other party, Ryan agrees to this condition, saying that he can start at any time, and also offers to ask a question.
How is the time calculated?
"Time? This is easy to do," Renina took an hourglass from her body and tossed it, "This is what I got from a human mercenary after killing him, and it totaled exactly an hour. β
