Chapter 62: Prison
February 9, Interstate 85.
Team Glenn is exploring along the road, and they are currently stationed in a makeshift camp at Herschel Farm, where they have searched for dozens of survivors and a lot of supplies for the Umbrella Company for months.
Several nearby towns had been looted by them, and there were almost no resources to use, and now they had to explore further outer.
Glenn was driving a modified pickup truck along the highway slowly, and in his co-pilot, a girl named Judy was carefully examining the map in her hand.
The girl bit a pencil and drew dots on the old map in her hand, and suddenly she pointed to a place on the map and said to Glenn:
"Captain, there are no signs on the map, but I spoke to a survivor in the vicinity who said there was a prison and that his cousin had been held here."
"A prison, maybe there are survivors in it, should we go and see it."
Glenn listened to the probe and looked at the map for a few seconds, but was mischievously bitten on the ear by the girl.
"I'll take a look at the location first, it's not far from us."
The Korean boy shuddered and retracted his neck violently, and a blush appeared on his cheeks as the girl's silver bell-like laughter.
He coughed lightly, pretending to be calm to maintain his majesty as captain, and spoke:
"Judy, Mr. Custer has told us that the search for survivors is our number one priority."
"Since there may be survivors there, and it's not too far away, let's go and take a look."
The girl Judy quickly kissed Glenn on the face, picked up the walkie-talkie, and said in a brisk voice:
"Members of the Glenn team, please note that the captain has determined today's destination, please stay vigilant, follow our car, and stay safe."
Judy spoke three times in a row, and as the other members responded, their motorcade began to set off for a certain prison location according to the map instructions.
An hour later, Glenn's convoy arrived at the desired location.
It is a small prison in the middle of the forest, with a large courtyard surrounded by concrete walls and metal mesh, and the overall scope is not large, and according to its size, it used to hold only a few hundred prisoners at most.
Seeing the zombies wandering aimlessly in the courtyard in the prison, Judy sighed a little depressed, and whispered to Glenn beside her:
"Captain, these zombies have been wandering inside for so long, and no one has cleaned them up, and it seems that it is difficult for the people inside to survive."
"Do we still need to clean up the zombies inside?"
Glenn didn't answer immediately, he took out a telescope from the driver's seat, looked at the prison carefully for a few minutes, suddenly raised his hand and touched Judy's short blond hair, turned to all the team members and said:
"Brothers, this prison is a very good camp, with a natural protective net and concealment, we can use the metal mesh around the prison to easily kill all the zombies inside."
"If we empty the zombies here, we'll have a safe and hidden stronghold, which will make it easier to search for us nearby."
This young man, who has gradually detached himself from childishness, looked back at his more than 20 team members with a firm gaze, and said:
"Our goal at Umbrella is to save humanity and save more survivors, and even if we don't need this prison in the future, this natural camp will definitely bring more safety and protection to future survivors."
"Now, then, let's kill all the monsters inside."
"Take this place back into human hands."
Most of the young team members agreed with the words of the captain Glenn with excitement on their faces, and they were full of energy, and several of the more mature team members sighed in their hearts and met a captain of the second secondary school, while taking the initiative to take on those more dangerous positions.
After months of working together, they have recognized Glenn from the bottom of their hearts as a brave and kind captain.
The number of zombies in the prison is probably more than four hundred, and most of them are scattered in the courtyard outside the cell.
More than 20 heavily armed and battle-hardened security troops, led by Captain Glenn, relied on the metal mesh around the prison to keep the zombies out of the fence.
They used sharp bayonets and silenced pistols in their hands to seduce the zombies on the periphery of the yard little by little, evenly luring these brainless zombies around the metal mesh, using the holes in the metal mesh, using bayonets, and cleanly destroying their brains.
Once they were too dense, Glenn and the others would switch to silencer pistols to perform a quick removal of them.
It turns out that the metal mesh wall is really good for killing these monsters, once they are crowded on the metal mesh, they will turn into fish on the cutting board, and even twelve or thirteen-year-old teenagers and girls can easily take their lives with sharp weapons.
There was no accident, the more than three hundred zombies in the yard were cleaned up quite easily by Glenn and others using this method.
After a short break, Glenn took a few of the most agile team members to inspect all the areas of the prison except for the cells, and lured out all the zombies hiding in various corners.
After two rounds of meticulous cleanup, it didn't take much effort for the Glenn team to occupy all the areas except the cell.
Even if the zombies are mixed with the most threatening zombies of the prison guards in protective suits, in the face of assault rifle attacks, after a few bullets, they are unresistant to turn into real corpses.
Soon only the cells in the whole prison were not cleaned, Judy opened the door of the cell, looked inside, and said with a serious expression:
"Captain, the light in the cell is seriously insufficient, and if we rush in, we will likely be attacked by zombies hiding in the corner."
"We have to solve the lighting problem."
Glenn nodded, and said with a smile on his lips:
"I've thought of it a long time ago, have you forgotten the new invention in the base?"
Under the curious eyes of the team members, he and one of the team members took out an oval metal device with wheels that looked like a turtle from the car, put it in front of the door of the cell, and then took out a remote control device with a computer screen from the car, and said to the team members:
"This is the latest invention of the engineering department's armed robot dog, which is said to have been modified by Professor Amlin with those half-finished armed drones."
"I don't have the ability to fly, so I can only rely on wheels to move on flat ground."
He pointed to the three wheels on the bottom of the dog, and then to the muzzle, stereo, and internal camera on the dog's body.
"It's like a remote-controlled car with a weapon system attached."
"We don't need to go in, we just need to send this mechanical dog in and make a big fuss, and we can lure all the zombies inside."
"This thing has a pure steel shell, a capacity of 300 rounds, and can also use a voice system, a lighting system."
"In terms of combat effectiveness alone, maybe it's a little stronger than us ordinary people."
Glenn rubbed his palms together and said with excitement on his face:
"This is the No. 1 testing machine, and Mr. Custer asked us to test it a few more times and collect experimental data."
"In the future, when you encounter a dangerous place, let this thing take the lead."
"Guard the door of your cell and don't let the zombies escape."
"I'll give it a try, if this thing works."
