Chapter 69: Kidnapping
At Kevira's reminder, Leon had an idea to deal with Woodbury and the Governor.
Early the next morning, he left Glenn and Daryl to continue to strengthen the prison's defenses, and he drove with Cadilla and Peggy's siblings, and followed the instructions on the map for several hours to the vicinity of Woodbury Town.
This is a typical American tourist town, a fusion of European and American architectural styles, mainly low-rise villas, loose houses, sparsely populated, not too many high-rise apartments, the whole town, churches, hospitals, squares, parks, everything, beautiful environment, lush vegetation, is indeed a good place for ordinary people to live.
Leon and the others parked their cars on the edge of the town and quickly emptied a private villa with a yard with cold weapons.
With the help of Peggy and Sherman's military reconnaissance drones, they spent more than ten minutes in the southwest corner of the town and discovered the so-called Camp Woodbury.
It is a gated community formed by blocking off both ends of the street with large trucks, tires, planks and other debris.
Through the camera of the reconnaissance drone, Leon saw that most of the survivors in the streets were still like before the disaster, some were basking in the sun, some were tidying up the flowers and plants, some were gathering together and chatting happily, and even one or two elderly people in wheelchairs, and children running happily on the street.
Such a scene made Leon and the others feel speechless for a while, and now it seems that this so-called Woodbury camp is actually a waste.
Their survivors were protected in this closed community, and food, weapons, and security were all relied upon by an armed team led by Governor Philip.
The rest of the remaining members are of little real significance, and they are even living the same idle life as they did before the disaster, neither thinking about expanding their territory and building safer shelters, nor thinking about storing more supplies and producing food for the future.
Like a flock of canaries in a cage, bewitched by the rhetoric of Governor Philips, living in lies, believing that they are now very safe and very free.
They didn't know that if they encountered some slightly more powerful marauders, everything here would be destroyed, and they would become slaves or playthings, or more corpses.
After observing for ten minutes and figuring out what was actually going on in Woodbury, Leon quickly lost interest.
Sherman, who was strong and honest, scratched his head and whispered to his sister:
"Sister, are those people inside living too leisurely, they seem to have forgotten that it is the end of the world, and I also saw some women pruning flowers and plants, is there any point in doing this now?"
Peggy stole a glance at Leon, a blush crept up on her face, she glared at her brother, snorted and said:
"Stupid, everyone here has been raised as a waste."
"Not everyone can have the long-term vision and big ideals that Mr. Custer does."
"After a few years, all the existing materials are consumed or rotten, and these humans, who have neither combat power nor access to food, will either die or become marauders."
"They may have a good life for a few days in the short term."
"But in the end, they will be greeted with a tragic end."
Hearing the whispers of the two, Leon walked over with a smile on his face, touched Peggy's smooth and silky blonde hair, and said to the strong Sherman:
"Sherman, you have a talent for manipulating machines, and after a while I will select some young people to form a special drone combat team."
"I want you, as the captain, to help me train them, and this will become a powerful force in our umbrella company."
Sherman touched his head a little innocently, glanced at his sister, and was secretly glared at by the girl, and he replied in a humble voice:
"No problem, Mr. Custer, I'll do it all to you."
Leon nodded, thought for a moment and said:
"I heard that you want to learn how to fly a helicopter, right?"
The boy nodded quickly.
"No problem, that's a good thing."
He pointed to Kevila, who had long been leaning on a sofa and looking lazily, and said:
"When you have free time, you can go to Ms. Kevila for advice, and she will teach you how to fly a helicopter."
"You'll be the second pilot of our umbrella company."
Hearing this, Kevela glanced up at Leon, did not object to it, and continued to look at himself.
Sherman's eyes lit up, he had long wanted to learn how to drive these big guys, and the strong boy said with some embarrassment:
"Mr. Custer, I'd like to learn how to drive a tank from Colonel William, can I?"
A gentle smile appeared on Leon's face, and he grabbed Peggy, who wanted to teach his brother a lesson, and said:
"Hehe, no problem, I'm a person who pays a lot of attention to talent."
"Sherman, you have such talents, I will support you, and your talents will bring greater value to the umbrella company."
He turned his head and whispered to Peggy:
"Peggy, I'll transfer Daryl's team over, so I'll ask you to keep an eye on Woodbury's condition for me."
"Don't let them notice the anomaly, and let me know if they go out in a small group."
"We're going to keep up and catch their fighters."
"With the state of this camp, if you lose those armed men, they will become a flock of lambs to the slaughter."
"I think that would reduce the indifferent killings."
Peggy clenched her little fist and nodded in reassurance:
"Don't worry, boss, I will complete the task you assigned, and I will definitely keep an eye on them."
Leon nodded with satisfaction, he actually admired this smart and strong little girl, not only a top student of the Polytechnic University, but also very obedient, brave and kind to endure hardships, strong work ability, and proficient in the control and cracking of electronic products, like his younger brother, he is a good employee who reassures the boss.
Time passed quickly, perhaps because they had come at the wrong time, and Woodbury did not send any team to explore the outside world for the whole day.
Darryl's team arrived near the town in the afternoon and camped in a hidden forest on Leon's orders.
They lurked silently until the next morning, when Peggy found Leon with a faint look under her eyes, and told him with a little excitement that Camp Woodbury had finally sent a 12-man four-car exploration team heading south along the edge of the town.
Moreover, the man named the Doge, who paid special attention to Leon, was not in the convoy.
Leon was overjoyed to hear the news, and he touched Peggy's little head rewardingly, and found a bag of high-end chocolates from his pocket and gave it to the girl.
Then he left the villa with everyone, and notified the Daryl team to join them, through the reconnaissance drone in the sky, quietly tracking the exploration team, all the way forward.
Finally, an hour later, in a plain more than a dozen kilometers away from Woodbury, the team approached.
