Chapter 62: The End of the Semester

In the quiet of the room, Carl watched Professor Carlo's every move more intently.

To his surprise, Professor Carlo did not get angry in the face of his doubts, but showed a smile of understanding.

"Wonderful, quite a wonderful view." Professor Carlo applauded lightly, "Carl, your thirst for power will always be what I appreciate the most, and this is what makes you different from those students. โ€

"You know exactly what you need, but you don't understand the harm of eagerness. Learning magic is a long-term process, and you need time to digest and understand, rather than just push it forward. โ€

After listening to Professor Carlo's tirade, Carr realized that Professor Carlo was still avoiding questions.

Carl knew he couldn't let Professor Carlo fool him around at this time, and he needed to show his attitude.

"I don't understand, Professor." "The first year is coming to an end, and I haven't encountered any obstacles in this year's study, whether it's you, Flitwick, or Professor McGonagall, or even Snape, I'll learn what you've taught me with ease." โ€

"I think I've fully digested and understood what I've learned so far, much more than a first-year student. So what's the downside to eagerness? โ€

The office fell silent again.

Carl stared at Professor Carlo, as he watched the professor he had challenged lightly tapped the edge of the coffee cup on his desk, his face expressionless.

It didn't take long for Professor Carlo to finally speak.

"This involves a very difficult theory of magic, and it's hard for me to articulate it in a few words."

"But Carl, believe me, don't be so anxious, what you are facing is not a defect in talent, but the time it takes to develop. Magic requires not only the emotions of the soul, but also the strength of the body. โ€

"Actually, many pure-blood families are also teaching their descendants according to this theory - Carl, I don't know if you have noticed this phenomenon: your classmates, those pure-blood classmates, when they entered the school, basically did not master magic?"

Professor Carlo said solemnly, "Do you think their family doesn't want to start learning magic earlier?" โ€

He stood up, "Anyway, I'll continue to teach you about the theory of the dark arts next school year, and as for spells, you can wait until your third year to learn from Quirrell - don't tell me you can't do it." โ€

"And what about Voldemort's secret?" Carl asked, "Will you tell me next semester?" โ€

"I'll tell you before I leave school." In the face of Carl's insistence, Professor Carlo finally made some compromises.

Their conversation ended in such an unpleasant atmosphere.

On Saturday, Carl received a gift from Quirrell - a second-hand set of Standard Spells.

This is a Hogwarts benefit for underprivileged students, and most of them are donations left by students when they graduate.

Unlike books in the library, they can be taken out of the castle but returned to the school at the end of the semester.

This time Quirrell's mentality had adjusted well, and they had been in class all day, not only reviewing the spells they had learned before, but also starting to learn some offensive spells.

Quirrell seems to have used Carl's teaching as a rehearsal for future lessons, and after adjusting his mindset, he quickly becomes an excellent teacher - except for the occasional stutter due to nervousness and emotion.

He was an excellent graduate of Hogwarts in his own right, which is why he was able to stay in school, and he studied with Professor Carlo for a long time, and his theoretical knowledge was very solid.

So he easily combined these spells with theories and explained them in a way that was eye-opening and inspiring to Carl, and finally decided not to change the way Quirrell taught.

In addition to Professor Caro and Quirrell's lectures, Carl also searched the library.

During his last encounter with Karkaroff, Karl finally realized that the library wasn't exactly what he thought it was.

Previously, he understood magic as a tool in the world of ordinary peopleโ€”machines for production, machines for repairs, and of course weapons for damage.

Before, he blindly looked for weapons that could hurt people, but he didn't realize that it wasn't necessarily weapons that hurt people.

Of course, this is just an example, but it would be more accurate for Carl to finally understand the value of this library.

Books that seem unpopular and don't seem so useful are the best way for wizards to get to the full picture.

In addition to the vast amount of knowledge, those bizarre spells are a treasure in their own right.

With these things, wizards can face all kinds of circumstances, and all they need is a wand.

The only pity is that the magic here is still too ordinary, and it is all simple daily magic like the Hair Growth Charm, the Bone Charm and the Flying Charm.

A lot of hard magic is only a few introductions.

For example, the weather spell that Carl was very interested in. There are only a few simple ways to create small-scale weather indoors, snow, rain, sunshine, fog, and only a few words about thunderstorms, tornadoes, hail, and so on that Carl is really interested in.

On the contrary, the anti-mantra of this mantra, "Cloud Mantra Withdrawal", is clearly introduced.

Before the week of final exams, Carl focused his main attention on learning these spells, but he didn't give up on his nightly catch.

Using the Living Spot Map to seduce Filch to catch people has become one of the twins and Lee Jordan's favorite activities, the only trouble being that they can't learn the Transfiguration Charm.

They did put a lot of thought into this useful spell, but so far they could only say that they had a clue.

As a result of their activism, Filch was even more successful, with Slytherin being hit hard, and Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff being attacked at Karl's suggestion, who insisted that Slytherin not be caught entirely.

"If we do that, only a fool would not think that someone is behind this."

If it weren't for the fact that the score didn't allow it, Carl would even have planned to grab a few Gryffindors to better confuse the public.

However, such a trick eventually failed.

In the final month of the semester, when the difference between Slytherin and Gryffindor was only thirty points, they seemed to have a group meeting within themselves.

Since then, no Slytherin has appeared in any other Hogwarts position. In the dead of night, there are always two names sitting in the doorway near the Slytherin common room on the map of the living spots, and everyone else is honestly crouching in their dorms.

Fred and George made a special inquiry and eventually confirmed that the names were Slytherin seventh graders.

All of them come from pure-blood families and have great promises, and they don't care about the final graduation exams. But he was very concerned about Slytherin's upcoming five-in-a-row title.

So they not only warned all the students in the common room, but also lined up a shift to watch over possible disobedient students.

Their hard work has been duly rewarded.

At the end-of-year dinner, the Slytherin flag flew high.

This outcome was expected after Gryffindor's Quidditch team lost, but with Filch's madness in April and May, everyone had some unrealistic illusions.

"We're a little late." Lee Jordan sighed, he looked at the cheerfulness over there, a little unwilling, "Carl, you should have told us a long time ago." โ€

"I need to confirm something, and I need to prepare something." Carl also has some regrets about the final outcome. "If nothing else, without the Illusion Charm, our plan won't work."

"Okay, don't talk about such a depressing thing, isn't there still next year?" Fred held up the pumpkin juice in his hand, "Let's talk about summer vacation." โ€
