When the Yangong Temple Resistance Battle took place, it was already the second lunar month of the fifth year of the fall of Luo'an Prefecture.

It's the season of flowers. A new situation emerged in World War II, in which the Japanese army suffered repeated setbacks in the Pacific War, the Soviet army occupied Berlin, and the German army announced its unconditional surrender. Against this background, the Central and Southern Governor's Headquarters sent telegrams to various units operating in enemy-occupied areas or behind enemy lines to look for fighter planes and engage in several battles with the Japanese army that had a relatively large impact, so as to provide a basis for public opinion propaganda and to set the record straight.

The Yangong Temple Resistance Battle was originally organized by Yang Tinghui. Yang Tinghui received information that the Nakamura Wing of the Japanese Army planned to carry out a "sweep" in the middle of this month in the vicinity of Yangong Temple, Jiepaishi, Xianghongdian, and Yingjiachang in the Bump Mountain area. Yang Tinghui then sent someone to contact Liu Hanying and asked for cooperation in the battle.

The enemy situation was conclusive, and the Eighth Route Army took the initiative to shoulder the heavy burden, Liu Hanying felt that it was a little unreasonable for him not to participate in this battle, so he chose the left road and ambushed at Yangong Temple.

The reason why he chose the left side instead of the right side is that Liu Hanying has his own shrewd considerations. According to the spy reports he got from the other line, most of the enemies on the left were the "Imperial Cooperative Army", which was naturally much easier to deal with than the Japanese devils.

When the troops were deployed, Chief of Staff Zuo Wenlu placed the new 79th Regiment, which had just been formed less than three months ago, in the archway, and placed the 246th Regiment of Zhang Jiayu, which was fully organized, in Saishiji, northeast of Yangongmiao.

At the battle meeting, Shi Yunbiao lay in front of the battle map and pondered for half an hour, and when he raised his head again, the one-eyed was a little more gloomy. Shi Yunbiao stood up slowly and said, "Brigade seat, I see that the terrain in this area is gentle and sparsely forested, easy to attack and difficult to defend. The front of the defense is so wide, and the defense is weak. With thousands of Japanese troops and nearly 10,000 puppet troops, we were unable to fight a large ambush, and we were scratching our boots by fighting a small ambush. I mean that it is better to cut off one of his fingers than to hurt his ten fingers, and whether it is possible to negotiate with Mr. Yang Tinghui again, change this way of fighting separately, and concentrate the forces of our department and the Yang department, and most of them will be pressed on the front line of the south building, and attack the Sasaki brigade on the right side of the Japanese army, and strive to completely annihilate it. ”

Before Liu Hanying could say anything, Zuo Wenlu took the words, smiled unnaturally and said, "Captain Shi's idea is indeed outstanding, but the problem is that Mr. Yang Tinghui may not listen to your command." The brigade commander and the deputy brigade commander both mean this, and each has its own responsibilities, so it is better to calculate the accounts clearly. ”

Shi Yunbiao was still muttering in his heart. This was the first time that the new 79th Regiment participated in the war since its expansion, that is to say, the combat life of the new 79th Regiment began from then on. Whether this battle can be fought well will determine the starting level of the team, and to a certain extent, it is destined to the spirit of a unit.

Shi Yunbiao chewed Zuo Wenlu's battle plan from the surface to the inside.

Judging from the momentum and terrain of the enemy, the area around the torii shop may be the first to enter the battle, once the pocket is blocked, it is the only way to escape the enemy, and it is very likely to become the main battlefield of the resistance war, and it should be defended by elite troops. His own children themselves know how many punches and kicks, and there are only six combat companies of his new 79th Regiment, except for the old foundation of the original 79th Brigade, two-thirds of the soldiers are newly recruited, although they practice non-stop day and night, but after all, they lack actual combat experience. And Zhang Jiayu's 246th Regiment is Liu Hanying's housekeeping unit, most of the officers are Liu Hanying's old subordinates, and the firepower is also very sophisticated. The terrain of Saishiji is strange, like a barrier that rises abruptly in the plain, the front is Pingchuan, and the back is also Pingchuan, the shooting range is wide, and the field of vision is also wide, which is convenient for attacking and retreating. Shi Yunbiao, who is familiar with the art of war and is well versed in the pros and cons of the terrain, naturally will not fail to see the bias of this layout.

Despite his righteous indignation, Shi Yunbiao went all out to prepare for the blockade.

Facts that appeared shortly thereafter proved that Shi Yunbiao's estimate of the enemy situation and the battlefield situation was basically correct. After the battle was launched, Shi Yunbiao led his troops to cover the front of the archway shop to Zhuanggang about one kilometer. As Shi Yunbiao himself expected, the wider the defensive front, the weaker the defensive force. The Yoshino Brigade of the Japanese Army supervised more than 800 puppet troops to launch six rounds of attacks on the Shiyunbiao defense line, trying to seize the road and escape. More than half of the troops of the 79th Regiment suffered casualties, and one-third of the officers below the company level were killed or wounded.

Shi Yunbiao asked the special agent company of the regiment headquarters to set up a machine gun behind the position, announcing - "All those who are in the position, including Shi Yunbiao himself, can only advance, not retreat, and those who retreat beyond the white line will be killed." ”

Shi Yunbiao carried a three-foot-long broad knife in his hand, stood at the height of the position, and shouted: "Brothers, there are Japanese devils in front, two devils in the back, cliffs on the left, and Weihe River on the right. The brethren look at me, and if I do not retreat, you will be dead in the way of retreat. ”

Since this is the case, the battalion and company commanders naturally did not dare to be ambiguous, and they all did a good job of explaining the aftermath and preparing to sacrifice their heads in front of the battle.

Due to the tight front, Chen Mohan, who had already reached the second company by this time, offered Shi Yunbiao permission to make a plan and commanded a platoon to feign defeat and retreat, tear a gap, lure the enemy deep into the first line of Tianyukou, and attack it together, dividing and encircling the Yoshino Brigade, which had penetrated deep into the depth of Liu Hanying's defense area, in dozens of mountains, forests and ravines that were inconvenient to deploy. In this way, the 79th Regiment stabilized its position on the whole line.
