Chapter 37: What I See in the Mirror
It was an unused classroom, with many desks and chairs stacked on the wall, showing a large black shadow, and a wastepaper basket was upside down on the floor.
The entire classroom is completely abandoned because it has not been used for a long time.
On the opposite side of the classroom there is a very imposing mirror that reaches up to the ceiling.
Under the mirror's ornate gold frame, two claw-shaped feet support the mirror.
At the top of the mirror is engraved a line of small letters:
"Eris Stella Ohru Ait-Ubi Kafru Ait-Ang Wochs
(Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi)γ β
It took Hallie several times to finish reading the words.
After all, the witch is a master at playing with magic mirrors. Harley is well aware that many magic mirrors have special effects by making victims read certain words.
After reading this line, Harley frowned.
She didn't feel the danger from the mirror, so she decided to study it.
Hallie stood in front of the mirror, ready to swap positions with a wand that was out of the mirror's radius.
Harley then looked in the mirror. She froze.
Harley saw herself in the mirror with a statue at her feet, a statue of an evil god.
The statue was the Primordial Witch.
"What does that mean?" Harley quickly deciphered the message conveyed in the mirror,
"A mirror reflects the future?
I have my feet on the primordial witch, have I usurped her authority and mastered the power of the realm of calamity?
I...... Am I becoming a god in the future? β
In shock, Hallie's spirituality instantly fluctuated violently, and she automatically withdrew from her invisibility state.
But Harley didn't care, but frowned, thinking about the message in the mirror.
"That's not right." Harley thought to herself,
"The Primordial Witch is not in this world, how can I have the opportunity to kill him?
And if this mirror really knows the future, how can it know about the existence of the primordial witch?
But this is indeed what I desire, and I also want to become a god and destroy the witch sect that has been chasing me, and kill the evil gods they serve.
Wait a minute, it's something I crave! β
Hallie involuntarily read out the last sentence:
"That's right, this mirror reflects what I desire! It's the longing of my heart! β
At the same time, Harley quickly mobilized her spirit and closed her consciousness from being probed by external forces.
Sure enough, after Hallie closed her mind, the image in the mirror disappeared.
The room burst into applause.
"It was a surprise to me, Harry." An old voice rang out.
The spirituality in Harry's body was instantly active, and she could switch and wand at any time, but she hadn't acted directly, but looked in the mirror.
After Hallie closed her mind, the mirror literally became an ordinary mirror.
So Harley could clearly see from the smooth mirror that an old man was showing up little by little.
The old man was the headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Albus Dumbledore.
"Good evening, Professor Dumbledore." Harley immediately turned around and bowed slightly.
"Good evening, Harley." Professor Dumbledore whispered, "It's not a good time to say hello, though.
If I'm not mistaken, you should be in your warm bed in the Gryffindor Tower girls' dormitory right now, instead of accompanying me, an old man, in the cold wind in an abandoned classroom. β
"I'm sorry, Professor Dumbledore." Harry's brain was racing, and she guessed that she had probably hacked into the library when an unknown defense system alerted Headmaster Dumbledore.
Then, based on this situation, there is a high probability that the principal has found himself taking the book from the forbidden book area, and is monitoring his every move behind him.
But all this is uncertain.
Therefore, Harley simply apologized directly, while not saying what she apologized for.
In case the principal does not have all the evidence of his violation, wouldn't it be a loss if he admits more?
"There's nothing to be sorry about, Gryffindor students don't travel at night, can they still be called Gryffindors?" Dumbledore smiled and walked over to the mirror,
"I was also a Gryffindor houser, and I went on a lot of night trips. Luckily, though, I never got caught by my dean.
After all, I'm still a bit talented, and I've barely learned the illusion spell that makes me invisible. β
Harley didn't answer, just stood aside, her eyes drooping, looking at the ground.
Dumbledore didn't say anything more, but changed the subject:
"Harley, I'm curious, how did you tell that this mirror reflected what your heart longed for?
What exactly do you see? I wonder if you can share it with me, an old man? β
Harley certainly couldn't say that she saw the image of herself stepping on the primordial witch and holding up the kingdom of God.
She hesitated slightly, and said in a small voice, "I...... I saw my deceased parents. β
Professor Dumbledore was silent, and his hand stroking the mirror stopped.
After a few seconds of silence, Professor Dumbledore nodded, "Yes, I saw my dead parents."
What a sad thing to do. So you deduce that this mirror reflects what your heart desires most? β
"Yes, Professor Dumbledore." Harley replied in a whisper, with unconcealed sadness in her voice.
"Very sensible reasoning." Professor Dumbledore nodded,
"This mirror is called the Mirror of Eris. I'm sure you also saw that line on the mirror.
If you read it upside down, you will see, 'What I show is not your mirror image, but the desire of your heart'.
οΌI show not your face but your hearts desireοΌγ
As the saying goes, you can see in this mirror the deepest and strongest desires of our hearts......"
Dumbledore whispered information about the mirror, adding:
"I'm so happy, Hallie. You have a strong will, and the first time you come into contact with this mirror, you get rid of its temptation. β
Harley nodded silently, suddenly raised her head, and asked in a curious voice, "Professor Dumbledore, may I ask what you saw when you looked in the mirror?" β
"Me?" Professor Dumbledore chuckled softly, "I saw myself holding a pair of thick woollen stockings. β
Wool socks? Harley looked skeptical. However, Professor Dumbledore did not explain, but stood up.
"Harley, I think it's time for you to go back to your dorm. I'm going to rest too, because I'm going to move this mirror somewhere else tomorrow. β
"Okay, Professor." Harley replied obediently, and quickly left the room.
Professor Dumbledore didn't leave immediately, but looked around solemnly, drawing his wand and tapping it a few times.
Dumbledore left the place after making sure that the classroom was completely enveloped in magic and that no one would break into the room and do anything that might break the mirror.
