Chapter 132: The First Strategic Jet Bomber Rolls Off the Lines
The design plan of the Sea Tiger-class destroyer has been approved by the leaders of the Eighth Route Army, so the shipyard design center will carry out a detailed design according to this overall design plan, and then start construction!
The shipyard of the Eighth Route Army is now slowly getting started, and the aircraft factory is very mature, and the scale is getting bigger and bigger, because the orders of the Allies are constantly increasing, and the planes delivered are also more and more, faster and faster, and the US dollars are constantly in the pocket, solving most of the funding problems for the Eighth Route Army.
This month, there is an important model that is about to make a sensation in the world to usher in the first prototype off the assembly line, which is the world's first jet strategic bomber, the Kunpeng No. 3 strategic bomber!
It can be said that the Kunpeng III strategic bomber, its level of performance, has been ahead of this era for at least ten years, because it is a real strategic bomber, and it is jet-engined!
From Kunpeng No. 2 to Kunpeng No. 3, the technical cross-domain is also very large, because Kunpeng No. 2 is still a turboprop engine, with a take-off weight of only more than 60 tons, a bomb load of 12 tons, and a range of more than 8,000 kilometers.
But now the Kunpeng No. 3 strategic bomber, its take-off weight has doubled to 130 tons, which is a real big guy, and its bomb load has also doubled to 20 tons, and its range has exceeded 10,000 kilometers, reaching a distance of 13,000 kilometers.
You must know that in Duan Peng's previous life, the world's first four-engine jet strategic bomber was the Soviet Union's Myasishev M4 strategic bomber.
In 1947, the Soviet Union still only copied the B29 from the Tu-4 bomber, after all, this kind of bomber is outdated, it is still a piston engine, slow speed, small bomb load, long range is not far enough, at the same time the United States and Britain have developed jet bombers.
At that time, in the Soviet Union, the opinions of the aircraft design masters were also different, and the design masters led by Tupolev were still skeptical of jet bombers, because the fuel consumption of jet engines at this time was very high, and they believed that turboprop engines should be used, because this is more fuel-efficient and the range can be longer.
However, one of Tupolev's disciples, Myasishev, believed that a jet strategic bomber should be developed, so he submitted the first design plan for a jet strategic bomber in 1951, which was 44 meters long, had a wingspan of 50 meters, adopted a conventional layout, and was equipped with four turbojet engines, with a maximum take-off weight of 130 tons and a bomb load of 20 tons.
In June 1951, the tactical indicators were recognized by the Soviet Air Force, with a range of 12,000 kilometers and a maximum bomb load of 24 tons.
The engines were determined to use four Mikulin AM3A turbojet engines, which had a thrust of 6.2 tons, and the construction of prototypes began in 1952, and a few months later, the first prototype completed its first flight in January 1953.
The results of the test flight of this prototype proved that it was capable of carrying five tons of bombs and flying 10,700 kilometers, which is close to meeting the requirements.
However, in later improvements, it was found that the structure of the fuselage was overweight and relatively serious, and in fact, the range was only 9,500 kilometers when the bomb was loaded with five tons.
And without air refueling, it is impossible to bomb any city in the United States and then return home.
However, because the Tu-95 strategic bomber crashed during a test flight, the Soviet top brass still decided to mass-produce the M4 strategic bomber.
Later, the M4 strategic bomber was equipped with a better engine, with a thrust of 9.5 tons and lower fuel consumption, so that the range could reach 10,500 kilometers when carrying five tons of bombs.
At the same time, aerial refueling was also developed, so that after a single aerial refueling, the M4 bomber was able to reach a range of 15,000 kilometers.
Of course, to achieve a higher range, it is better to use fuel-efficient turbofan engines, especially turbofan engines with large bypass ratios, but in the fifties there was no such technology in the USSR.
But now, the world's first jet strategic bomber is the Kunpeng No. 3 strategic bomber designed by Duan Peng, and now it is finally going off the assembly line, and Duan Peng is also very excited.
The leaders of the Eighth Route Army had to come to participate in the off-line ceremony, because they naturally wanted to take a look at such an important aircraft, and the other was the representatives of the Allies, who were big customers of this kind of strategic bomber, and the number of orders reached 500.
At this time, in a huge building of the Third Aircraft Factory of the Eighth Route Army, a giant plane that was still yellow-skinned had already put on a big red flower and was ready to roll off the assembly line, and it was the Kunpeng No. 3 jet strategic bomber.
This strategic bomber has a conventional layout, with a single wing on the upper wing, and advanced turbofan engines are hung under the wings, a total of four engines, and two under one wing.
This bomber is really too big, its wingspan and fuselage length are more than the Giant Bird II strategic transport aircraft.
At nine o'clock in the morning, the leading guests entered the off-line ceremony one after another, and when they saw the Kunpeng No. 3 strategic bomber, they were all excited, because this bomber is indeed beyond imagination, which is a huge leap in the history of human aviation.
With such an advanced jet strategic bomber, it will be possible to carry out a large-scale strategic bombing of the little devils and Germany, and under normal circumstances, it is possible to hang 25 tons of bombs and set off, because such a large range is completely unnecessary, and when it is fully loaded, there is still a range of 10,000 kilometers, and it can be dispatched 5,000 kilometers away, and the bombs can be thrown away.
Because this jet bomber does not need to worry about enemy aircraft intercepting at all, nor does it need to consider the problem of anti-aircraft fire, its bombing altitude reaches 12,000 kilometers and the speed is 900 kilometers per hour, and no enemy fighter can intercept it.
This is the world's first strategic bomber, so the leaders are very happy.
The off-line ceremony began in a solemn atmosphere, with the leaders of the Eighth Route Army making important speeches on the spot, followed by speeches by representatives of the allied forces.
Finally, the leading guests cut the ribbon for the new aircraft, and then everyone stood in front of this huge strategic bomber for a group photo.
The huge strategic bomber made the leading guests impatient to enter its cockpit to experience it.
This strategic bomber completely eliminated the tail gunner's cabin, and only one Gatling gun in the front and rear was used for defense, which was a remote-controlled cannon, so there was no need for the gunner to be there.
The huge magazine is also of great interest to the leaders, there are two magazines for this strategic bomber, one in front and one in the back, and at this time, of course, it is still a box-shaped magazine.
