Chapter 54: God's Damnation
Lake Geneva, also known as Lake LΓ©man, is the largest of the Alpine lakes.
The lake is surrounded by people, cities, towns, hotels. The noise was unacceptable to Lodia, but it was one of the closest lakes to the water source of the snowy mountains.
In Lotia's experience, the water here should be the purest it can be, but it's more filthy than she could have imagined.
Along the way, she also had a general understanding of the humans in this world, and the people in this world needed to rely on tools to activate extremely weak elemental forces, and individual strength was negligible.
She had also thought about diving underground, where the water might be purer.
But Lotia doesn't like the Dark Lands.
Lotia quietly observes everything on the shores of Lake Geneva, and perhaps, with the help of water, can drive away these humans.
Day 1.
People living on both sides of Lake Geneva have noticed that the previously gentle river has become a little faster, with waves crashing against the drivers, some of which have even crossed the embankments and spread onto the streets.
"My dear, Lake Geneva has been rejuvenated to its former glory." On the shore, a woman grabbed the man's arm and smiled, "I remember when we came to settle here, the elevation of the lake dropped and the elevation of the lake was always scattered on the school side. Now that the lake is rejuvenated, I would like to see yours too. β
Guy, a geologist at the University of Zhivar, looked helpless, and it seemed that he needed to get some emergency blue pills to revive his strength today.
But
Guy looked at the rushing river, and for professional reasons, his ominous premonition grew worse.
"Honey, I'll have to make a phone call and ask, Lake Geneva isn't in a normal state right now."
The woman's eyes narrowed slightly.
Guy raised his hands, "I'm not in any way hinting at anything, just from a scientific point of view, and you know, I recently joined a research group on the geology and paleontology of Lake Geneva. β
The woman was no longer holding Guy, and Guy hurriedly said:
"Lake Geneva was hit by a great flood before the sixth century AD, which overflowed the walls and took away churches, livestock, and people's wealth and lives."
The woman's face became serious, "My dear, do you mean that we may face a great flood at any time?" β
"No, no, I need to call and ask, maybe it's because of a small collapse of snow somewhere in the Alps to speed up the flow of Lake Geneva."
Guy pulled out his phone and turned to dial the number.
Day 2.
The water had overflowed the levee and encroached towards the houses on both sides of the bank.
Seminar Room of the Geology and Paleontological Research Group, University of Geneva.
Guy pressed his hands on the sides of the table, propping up his upper body, his eyes sweeping over his colleagues.
"No evidence?! How can it be! "Today, the currents of Lake Geneva are more volatile, but we have no evidence of a snow-covered collapse or a collapse of boulders on both sides of the lake," said Guy.
Could it be that some Lake Geneva monster is stirring up the storm?! β
The young scholar sitting on the side scratched his head, "We asked the government to mobilize satellites to investigate the area, scope, and scale of avalanches that may exist in the past two days, as well as landslides or boulders on both sides of the shore.
But with 224 square miles of Lake Geneva and two countries, it is impossible for us to accomplish so much in one day. β
"In any case, let's give the government a warning. Personally, I prefer an avalanche on a small scale, and if there is a landslide on both sides of the mountain, the current cannot be gradual. β
Day 3.
The governments of Switzerland and France have warned residents on both sides of Lake Geneva that major flooding could occur at any time, and they are advised to pack up their belongings and move to safety.
At this time, the geology and paleontological research team of the University of Geneva was already sitting at a meeting of dignitaries from both countries to attend the flood disaster.
Facing the comer, Guy stood in front of the projection and talked eloquently.
We have already found fragments of some huge rocks near the site where the Rhine torrent poured into Lake Geneva around 563 AD, which means that the flood of the sixth century AD could be repeated in our place at any time. We found a large amount of residual sediment at the bottom of the lake. We are convinced that this was caused by the 'lake tsunami' caused by the fall of the rocks.
The rocky soil in this area is six miles long and three miles wide. Once the boulder falls into the lake, it may trigger a huge wave of 20~40 feet."
A dignitary raised his hand to interrupt Guy's speech.
"Professor Gay, we all know the example you have given, but it does not apply to Lake Geneva today, and our scientists in France have found that the flow of water in Lake Geneva has increased dramatically, but not in the slightest increase in the flow of water at the mouth of the sea, and it is only stirred within the confines of Lake Geneva.
The example you are talking about is that a small area was flooded, but now the problem is that the entire shore of Lake Geneva is being disturbed. At the same time, we did not find boulder avalanches, landslides, mountain avalanches or anything like that. At this point, can you give me any good explanation? β
Guy shook his head helplessly, "We don't understand at all, according to our exploration, there is a rather strange 'circulating current' in the center of the lake, which is constantly moving around Lake Geneva, stirring the lake on the shore, and as time goes on, the speed of the current becomes faster and more violent.
If you had to give an explanation, all I could say was a lake monster or an alien that made a lot of noise in the 224-square-mile lake. β
Suddenly, Guy noticed that the two dignitaries in France looked at each other, as if they had thought of something, and hurriedly got up to leave.
Guy hurriedly motioned for his assistant to come up with his eyes, and he trotted over from behind the stage and followed the two dignitaries with serious faces.
"Gentlemen"
Guy was about to speak, but one of the men motioned to shut up.
"If your observations are true, the next step of the study can be shifted from Lake Geneva to how to get the people on both sides of the bank to move voluntarily."
"But sir."
"Okay, you don't need to meddle in the following matters, and you can't meddle either." The man said, "Thank you very much, Professor Guy, for giving us ideas. β
Guy was at a loss, what the hell was going on?
He quickly recalled, his body suddenly frozen, 'There can't really be lake monsters and aliens in this world, right?' β
Day 4.
Lake Geneva has completely rioted, and the water rushes over the houses on both sides, and the lake in the center is more than ten meters lower than the two banks!
Experts sitting on helicopters collect samples for on-site testing.
After more than ten minutes, the people on the side anxiously asked, "How is it?" β
"The air and water contain a large amount of the mysterious elemental power of the Pure Land of the Night."
"That is." The expert swallowed his saliva with difficulty, and after seeing the collapse of the aircraft carrier battle group, he looked down at the rioting Lake Geneva, and said in a trembling voice: "Mystery has come again, this is God's curse."
