Chapter 125: Coswayne's Duties
The Indomitable Truth.
Since the departure of the Luojia, the ship has returned to its usual silence and calm, except that in their spare time, some of the Whisperer warriors who remained on the stand by the Indomitable Truth still whispered about the matter, discussing each other's understandings and opinions. Obviously, even if the conflict between the two legions did not break out on the spot, it still left some not very good effects.
The same goes for the Dark Angels. After the conflict was over, they were all more or less aware of Johnson's orders, and although the officers in the high positions of the regiment did not say much about the matter, some of the young Astartes still had doubts in their minds that the muzzles of the shotguns in the hands of these Caliban boys had never been raised towards any friendly soldier during their not-so-long service.
For those who had never participated in the brutal Battle of Randan, attacking friendly forces was incomprehensible - especially the imposition of an extermination order on the home planet of a genetic protogen.
So much so that a young paladin had serious concerns about the matter.
"You look confused, Coswayne."
The old voice interrupted Coswayne's thoughts, and he looked at the old warrior who had appeared at the door at some point, even though the latter was not wearing power armor, but the generous Caliban robes could not hide the solemn temperament of the superior person, and the burly figure was not inferior to that of any young Astarte, and even more faintly exuded a dangerous aura.
ββ¦ Guru. β
The moment he saw the other party, Coswayne immediately knelt down and saluted, because the old man in front of him was none other than the great teacher who had taught him, Aracios.
And Arachos just waved his hand, as a knight who had been through countless battles, he didn't care too much about the etiquette in the Caliban.
"Cut out unnecessary red tape, Akau."
"You should be aware of the rumors in the Legion lately, and you should also be aware of my lord's resolute choice."
"You're in doubt, young warrior. I see confusion in your eyes. β
As he spoke, Aracios slowly sat down beside Coswayne, and he studied the young knight's expression, as if trying to find something on it.
"Gossip never penetrates the will of my Lord, Great Teacher."
And in the face of this old knight who seems to be old but is actually extremely powerful, Coswayne always maintains respect.
Not just because he was the Great Mentor who had taught him, but because Arachos was very old, and as a close attendant of the Genetic Primordial, he possessed many secrets that no ordinary dark angel knew.
"Oh?"
Hearing this, Arachos continued to ask with a little curiosity:
"Now that you and I know that gossip has never been a problem in the Legion, what are you still worried about? My baby. β
ββ¦β¦β
Coswayne was silent for a moment, then spoke slowly.
"I'm thinking... Whether our Lord's plan is worth the price. β
"Destroying the Whisperer's home planet would seriously deteriorate the relationship between the two legions, which would not be a helping thing to get the truth about the Iron Man incident."
In the past few days, Coswayne's eyes have been confronted with the original guards of the Whisperers, and the young warrior's ideals that have been held to are a little confusing in the angry roar of the Lord of the Seventeenth Legionβas a dark angel, Coswayne certainly understands that the reliability of the plan is beyond doubt, and no one knows if the second Iron Man Rebellion will be rekindled, and no one can afford the terrible effects of putting this dangerous being back into the galaxy.
If the First Legion's guess is correct, then they are facing an Iron Man civilization with unlimited potential, and although it is still in a new state and unreasonably weak, even if there is only a 1 in 10,000 chance of being reborn as the Iron Man Rebellion of the past, Coswayne feels that it should be completely destroyed.
The First Legion has never been hesitant to use the seal of the Extermination Order against any unimaginable potential threat, and even though trillions of lives would be buried under a few inches of fire, it would be better than allowing it to explode and destroy thousands of planets.
Ever since their genetic prototype took over the authority of destruction entrusted by the Lord of Humanity, there has not been a day that these most elite warriors in the Great Expedition have not been on a journey of destruction, and each of the Dark Angels has killed as many aliens as they have indirectly killed, and every urgent subspace journey of the Indomitable Truth symbolizes that a world that was once full of hope but hidden danger is about to turn into meaningless scorched earth.
Coswayne had witnessed countless disasters and tragedies so much that the young Caliban fighter was far more mature than the Astartes who had been drafted into the army, and although his two active hearts were called indispensable vitality of the legion by the genetic protogen, like many veterans of the Dark Angels, his heart had begun to be occupied by an indescribable numbness.
In particular, the dilemma they now face - if nothing else, after a few standard days of Terra, a culpable genogen and his home planet will be reduced to meaningless interstellar dust by the cruel orders of the lion.
Unlike the brutal Battle of Randan, or all the unremembered brutality of the First Legion, the Seventeenth Legion of the Empire will forever remember the shame of the destruction of its home planet, and regard the First Legion as a brutal executioner, and may even make the spark of rebellion manifest in this event.
Astarte's extraordinarily developed brain could deduce most of the events that might happen from now on in just a moment, and Coswayne could imagine the scenes of some of the Speakers betraying the Empire because of this event, constantly chasing and killing the Dark Angels, lingering in his mind for a long time.
Beside him, Arachos, was a young warrior who had earned the respect of all the Legion, but was now reserved and cautious.
In his eyes, the liveliness and sincerity that once belonged to Coswayne were gradually dissipating, gradually being replaced by a familiar numbness.
It was expected, but it wasn't good.
Arachows' brow furrowed slightly.
Because Coswayne's job is not to be a veteran of them who have long been numb to anything.
He had to be a close attendant who could advise the lion.
