Chapter 59: A Call for Help
In the evening, Alexander knocked on Esther's door, interrupting Esther's musings, and she was hesitating to write to Klein.
Maybe we'll wait until tonight's full moon passes.
Esther opened the door, "What's wrong?" β
Alexander gestured for her to follow, "It's not safe to let you stay here tonight, so I asked Aaron to sort out the room next to the captain's room." β
Esther followed behind Alexander: "Next to the captain's room? β
"Thoma's offer, he seems to wish Aaron was unlucky, but Aaron didn't refuse, you know, his firm ...... of his 'luck'" Alexander chuckled twice, he also thought that the two of them were naΓ―ve about their more serious behavior.
"You should be prepared accordingly, right?"
"Yes, considering the loss of control and the like, I have set up some corresponding containment measures in the next room, at least not so that you will not affect the entire 'Clover'. I have also prepared two incense candles with a sleeping effect, made of extraordinary materials that can soothe spirits. β
Esther nodded, "I see." I probably didn't have any other needs, just spend the night inside. β
Alexander glanced at Esther worriedly, but said nothing.
Thoma stood outside the door of the captain's room, and Aaron leaned against the doorframe, their expressions both looking subtle, but Esther greeted them as she passed by.
Thoma just nodded coldly, and Aaron told Esther with a serious face, "You can shout at me for help, at least I have a spell to force you to fall asleep here." β
Esther didn't think that kind of thing would be useful, she had never been pulled into a dream when she was on a mission in Tingen before, but Asther still smiled at Aaron: "Thank you for your kindness, if that kind of babbling is too painful, I probably won't have a chance to ask you for help." β
Then she didn't say anything more, and walked into the room where Alexander had just opened the door.
"Do you need me to put up a spiritual wall here through the princess?" Alexander asked before closing the door.
"Thank you, don't worry about it yet, I'll tell the 'Clover' directly."
Alexander shook his head: "I forgot about it, then I'll close the door." β
"Okay."
After Alexander left, Esther turned to look at the room, and she couldn't comment on the floor, walls, and ceiling covered in a layer of steel, and she could see a few occult symbols carved into the seams of the iron.
The floor was covered with a layer of coarse wool fabric so that Esther would not make a sound with every step. The room was small, with a soft couch with armrests, a stack of blankets, and a cushion for sitting and meditating.
A few books and two candles were piled up next to the sofa, placed directly on the carpet, apparently prepared for Esther's pastime.
There are no windows in the house, and a horse lamp hangs on the wall to provide a stable source of light.
Esther guessed that this was originally Aaron's place to store things, and it was not as dangerous as the collection room, but the secret compartment in his room could no longer fit it, so he stuffed the more space-intensive ordinary materials or treasure chests here.
Esther sat cross-legged on the couch, a small number of points of light scattered above her head, drifting into the wall, and as the Clover voluntarily raised a green curtain of light in the room, isolating the inside from the outside.
"Then it's time to wait...... Esther sighed, closing her eyes and leaning back on the back of the couch, letting her body sink limply inside.
ββ
The whispering in his ears suddenly became clear, as if the person who was calling for help and Esther were only separated by a wall.
Esther's "spiritual intuition" was suddenly touched, she closed her eyes, and through meditation sketched the image of the light cluster in her mind, and soon, Esther's consciousness sank into a silent darkness, leaving only the incessant cries for help.
Suddenly, something lit up in the darkness, and it would not be accurate to say "brighten", and Esther seemed to have only peeked into the presence of those eyes, and in the blue eyes there were shadows that were cascading like ripples, like overlapping endless doors.
But a bright red curtain stood in front of those eyes, tightly covering them, covering the pair of blue eyes that were extremely indifferent.
Esther could feel herself still sitting on the couch, wrapped in a soft, warm blanket, but her consciousness crossed time and space and any barrier to reach the place where the eyes were.
The voice "Help me, please save me......" still reverberates, and after using Hermes, it was replaced by Guphsak.
So Esther also asked in Gufsak, "Are you calling for help?" β
The voice stopped suddenly, and when he spoke again, there was surprise and curiosity, but Esther could clearly see that there was no emotional fluctuation in those eyes. The other party also replied to her in the Guphosak language:
"Yes, I was calling for help, and finally someone answered me......"
"Who the hell are you?"
The voice was silent for two seconds before responding, "You can call me 'Mr. Gate,' ma'am." β
Esther silently recited the name, but did not find any clues in her memory, she could only continue to ask, "Why are you calling for help?" β
"I've been trapped here, in the midst of this endless storm and darkness, I've been trapped so long that I've almost forgotten what the outside world is like."
Esther suddenly had the impression that it was very early in the morning, when she had seen two of Russell's diaries from the old Neil in Tingen. Russell writes on it that he once found a "poor fellow trapped in a storm and lost in the depths of darkness", and only with his cry every full moon can he get a little closer to the real world!
This is the poor man who was trapped? But where is he? The storm and darkness sounded at first glance, which made Esther suspect that the other party's location might be the God's Forsaken Land, but the strange crimson in front of the eyes made Esther subconsciously deny this speculation.
No, he must be somewhere else.
"Mr. Men, over the years, I should not be the only one who has responded to your call for help, right?" Esther only had a guess that, with Russell the Great's uninhibited personality, he could not have given up communicating with this strange "Mr. Door" after only one contact.
This time, the voice was silent for a little longer, and he let out a sad sigh: "Alas...... As you said, but no one succeeded in rescuing me, and in the end they all left me alone to continue calling for help. β
Esther thought for a few seconds and asked him, "But where are you trapped?" β
"I don't know, I've been banished by their power, I've been away from my hometown for too long, I want to go back, I want to go back to the world I know."
His voice was anxious and mournful, and no one would think it was all false just to hear such a voice full of pain.
But Esther could see those cold and unforgiving eyes, surrounded by crimson, in her perception.
The voice pleaded again, as if hearing Esther's slightly soft-hearted tone: "Please, I need to return to my family, I don't know how many years have passed since I was expelled, but I know that my family is still there, I should still have family members alive, I must go back and see them......"
Esther was silent.
The voice had no choice but to change the direction of the pleading: "I can exchange everything with you, the secrets of history that I know, the treasures of the Tudor Empire, the many lost relics of the spirit world, and even the truth of the occult and the extraordinary world!" β
Esther's breath stagnated, and she instantly raised the other party's danger level to the true god level in her heart.
This knowledge is enough to destroy anyone. The more secretive the occult knowledge, the stronger the damage caused to ordinary people, and most of the extraordinary people who have gone through formal learning know this, where did this person get the confidence to think that she is enough to withstand these things?
"I'm nowhere near enough to understand this, Mr. Men, you seem to have some misunderstanding about me."
The voice chuckled twice and replied, "No, I'm pretty sure you're good enough to accept these things, and you're already able to communicate with me so peacefully, aren't you?" I can perceive something special about you, young lady. β
Before Esther could speak, he continued: "If you want, I will even instruct you how to break free from your bondage, but only if you free me, and I can only help you if I return to the real world. β
"What's the name of that family you're talking about? Maybe I can go see how they're doing for you. Esther said this, trying to change the subject, ignoring the other party's conditions, not wanting to pay attention to his deliberate temptation.
"I can't tell you! If you're going to murder them, there's no way I can protect them. All you have to do is free me, please, I will be able to give you a reward far beyond your imagination, I know what you desire! β
Esther didn't care about the "desire" that was too emphasized in the other party's words, and her "spiritual intuition" suddenly swayed, and a sudden inspiration rushed to her mind. It was the last name that Miss "The Magician" had heard from the Tarot Society, and Esther asked it casually:
"Is it the Abrahamic family?"
As she asked, the red curtain that had obscured her eyes twisted for a moment.
What kind of eyes were that, the overlapping eyes of the phantom door were filled with extremely complex emotions, revealing madness and pain, and despair and mourning, far more real than those previous words of distress.
Esther's feelings were almost connected to the other, her heart clenched in the broken eyes, and her breathing was even rapid.
This time, the voice was even more frantic than the previous uninterrupted cry for help, and each voice was full of remorse: "Don't save me!" Don't try to save me! Never save meβ"
The voice stopped abruptly.
Esther couldn't help but call softly, "Mr. Abraham? β
In her perception, the crimson light suddenly brightened, and the light veil that shrouded her blue eyes shrouded it again, covering it layer by layer.
"Don't save me......"
The conversation ended with a slight murmur at the end.
Everything in Esther's perception vanished, the crimson curtain, the eyes of the overlapping doors, and the simultaneous sound of distress and rejection.
Esther opened her eyes, the dizzying sense of dislocation still lingering, and she simply collapsed on the couch and quietly recalled the previous conversation.
As the night of the full moon passed, the whisper of a negative effect that was enough to destroy many people came to an end.
