Chapter 219: The Confused
Crane opened his eyes from the bed, and his spiritual intuition had sketched out the chair next to the side mirror and the smiling Esther sitting on it before he could fully see what was in the room.
Her right elbow rested on the armrest, her head propped up with her hand, and her gentle eyes were hidden in the darkness of the corner.
One lark was slashing at the bird rack in Nouns, making a small clattering noise, while the other lark lay on top of Esther's head, as if "finally home", burying its head in Esther's hair, relaxing wholeheartedly.
Esther waved to Klein, who was sitting up, and stayed in her chair.
Perhaps because of the age difference with Klein's original appearance, she was not used to the appearance of a mature gentleman of "Dawne", and she was also curiously looking at Daun's deep blue eyes at this time.
Crane smiled, "Facelings, they're all more practical than 'Thieves, aren't they?'" Haven't you thought about the right way?"
Esther shook her head repeatedly: "I went to the 'Destiny Hermit Society's *** before, but the entire hall was not even half full, and it was all eaten up by the high-ranking people in the same way. If I'm on the same path as you, it's dangerous for both of us."
Klein smiled and leaned against the head of the bed, "I think normal extraordinary people can't do that."
"You're right, maybe at the level of angels, there is no human ethics that can bind them......" Esther paused, leaning back in her chair with a sad face, "I'm glad we're not on the same path, but 'Mr. Demon is also a 'soothsayer', will you have a conflict?"
I thought about the power of the "Fool" to suppress the same path, and the awe that the "Demon" felt when he first ascended the gray mist.
Crane's expression was casual: "I don't think so, 'The Fool wouldn't allow that to happen in the Tarot Society.'"
Hearing Klein mention the "Fool", Esther also found some comfort in it: "Yes, after all, there are gods watching ......."
The gods are not to be trusted. This sentence inadvertently popped up again.
"What's wrong?" Klein noticed that Esther's eyes were in a trance for a moment.
Esther shook her head again, "It's fine, just a little annoyed."
Noens, who was lying on top of her, seemed to be a little more awake, and then he looked up at Crane and called lazily.
"Huh? It's not morning yet." Klein subconsciously replied.
"How are you two saying hello in the morning?"
Klein's smile was softer, "Nornes is very smart, and he basically understands the most basic simple communication now."
Esther raised her hand, and Nornes obediently landed in her palm and pecked Esther's finger again: "I haven't looked at it for too long, so it's not very happy, and it bit me a lot before."
Nornes pressed Esther's finger harder, causing Esther to chuckle into a low voice, "Okay, okay, it's my fault, but aren't you happy to be with Crane?"
The lark's petite body suddenly inhaled hard, which made its furry chest bulge suddenly.
Klein was far away, and by the time he could see clearly, it was too late, "Wait, don't be here—"
"Boom!"
As Noens roared, Esther felt some invisible impact slamming into her mind.
However, she regained her composure easily, and the force of the impact did not hurt Esther. She looked at the lark in surprise, and then at Crane as he was about to get up from the bed—the quilt had almost slid to the floor, but fortunately, he was still wearing his pajamas.
"Are you alright?" Crane stopped at the edge of the bed, and did not walk directly to Esther in the chair, considering his dress.
Esther pinched Noanns' beak, causing the bird to snort in dissatisfaction, "I'm fine, I've already set up a barrier in your bedroom when I wake up first, and it shouldn't affect the rest of the house...... But it's so scary
Where did you learn your abilities?"
"Well, it's a bit complicated," Klein replied vaguely, "I didn't expect it to emulate a song with occult effects."
Esther let go of Noanns' mouth and said solemnly, "Not next time! It's a dangerous attack, and only the enemy can call it that!"
Nornes immediately craned his neck and nodded aggrievedly, and then he pecked Esther on the thumb unhappily and called twice.
Esther looked at Klein, "It said it was learned from the blue people, who do you know?"
Although a little surprised that Esther could understand the lark's words, Crane answered her question evasively, "When I went to explore an overseas island with the Hanged Man, Nornes hid on me." The song of the hanged man is a little special, and you can see it."
Speaking of this, Crane rubbed his temples with some distress, "I always thought that Nornes was some kind of spiritual creature that took the form of a lark, but I didn't think it still had this kind of power."
Esther poked the lark's head and watched it shrink into a ball of wiltingness, no longer losing her temper: "I've seen a 'Destiny Path's mid-sequence extraordinary' before, and I have dealt with it, because this path is too powerful spirituality to directly attack other people's spirits, and Nornes should have the corresponding ability."
Crane sat back on the edge of the bed, "But it hasn't been shown before, do you have what it takes?"
"I didn't, something went wrong with my spirituality, and my connection with Zoya was artificially blocked." Noticing Klein's nervous eyes, Esther smiled at him, "As you think, I'm afraid he did it. This result is not good or bad for me, at least I am a demigod now, and I have some small means."
Klein was silent for a moment, but then came up with his thoughts, "Why don't you try to ask 'Mr. Fool' for help?"
"I can't always rely on, 'Mr. Fool, it's not good to disturb Him like that.'" Esther's smile lightened, and she raised her hand in mid-air to signal Nornes to fly back to the monopod.
But the real thought in her heart was the uneasiness of the gods, and the seeds of doubt took root like weeds, and they could not be burned.
Reluctantly, Nornes spread his wings, but instead of flying to the bird's nest occupied by another lark, he landed back on top of Esther's head, lying between her hair.
Esther looked at Klein, "You told Leonard that in your dream, did you have the idea of introducing him to 'Mr. Fool?'" He's always been an official 'night watchman'."
"'Mr. Fool won't mind, I'm very aware of that.'" Crane smiled as well, and he adjusted his sitting position against the head of the bed, "I've heard something from Him about Zoya, so if you want to ask Him for help, you'll be able to ask for it."
There seemed to be a lie in Klein's words, which made Esther quiet for a while. She didn't ask, she didn't look at Klein, but looked out the floor-to-ceiling window at the night.
Klein didn't rush, just waited for her to make a choice in her thinking.
Esther shook her head for the third time, but didn't say anything, but got up from her chair and held the Noones above her head in her hand, "I think it's time for me to go, it's almost dawn when we talk any longer."
Esther put the lark back on the monopod and waved at Klein, "Anyway, you have to pay more attention to safety, I always feel that you have some very attractive special aura about you. If there's anything I can do to help, write to me, and I'll give you feedback on the situation of the 'Hermit of Destiny' to Mr. Fool at the next Tarot meeting."
"Something special?"
Esther finally pinched Noanns' mouth, "I can't tell, maybe it's because of the 'Fool's Favor?'"
Nornes stood in its usual position and chirped a few times as it tried to rub its head against Esther's hand, but Esther didn't give it a chance.
"Esther, what are you worried about?" Klein asked.
Esther's expression was gentle, and she reached into her satchel and fumbled for a moment, "I'm questioning, Crane, questioning everything. A lot has happened in recent times, and I'm starting to wonder what is pulling me in the direction of everything that is outside of common sense......
Why her? And why Klein?
Before Klein could ask again, Esther had already flicked her wrist, and suddenly something was thrown directly at her, and Klein reacted quickly and raised his hand to catch it.
A silver Night Emblem lay in the palm of his hand, with a little warm.
Crane looked up again and saw Esther's somewhat sad and dazed eyes, though the gentle smile on her face didn't change much: "Tuck under the pillow and wait for the dream to come...... You can try to use that Night Emblem to communicate with our seniors."
With the "Joker's" ability to control his expression, Crane's pupils twitched slightly: "What do you mean—"
"Yes, it's not just you, me, and Russell the Great in this world, and if my guess is right, we have seniors who have gone further. However, even in the very high position, he has not been able to find a way back, but at least it will give you a channel to learn from the goddess."
Klein was silent for a moment, Esther didn't know where Russell had gone, but Klein knew that Russell had also approached the god throne of the "Black Emperor", and it was even possible that he had not completely died and was still in a hidden mausoleum.
He slowly clenched the emblem in his hand, the edge pressed against his fingertips, and there was a hidden pain.
The goddess of the night?
With a grip on Esther, the satchel on her shoulder disappeared, "Glad to see you're all right."
Klein sighed, "But you don't look very good, did you come across something I can't help you with?"
"I'm a 'thief, maybe I'm deliberately trying to trick you into sympathy?'" Esther blinked, and seemed to have returned to normal, as if she was not the one who was sad for a moment just now, "If the doubts in my heart are answered, I will share them with you again."
"I'll wait for that day."
"I went back to Tingen the other day. Seriously, haven't you ever thought about going back and checking it out? I remember you still have relatives, when you were Klein Moretti."
Esther finished laughing, and before Klein could reply, she waved her hand, and her body turned into a cloud of bird-like light that fell on the physical lark.
The lark clenched his paws and left the bedroom.
Noons chirped in the direction of the window, as if a hasty goodbye.
